The good: The Nike+ SportWatch GPS is very easy to use and has an attractive design. The watch has good battery life, and the Web component is a great resource for tracking workouts and getting training tips.
The bad: It's expensive. We had some initial problems with GPS, and positioning wasn't always accurate.
The bottom line: For runners looking to keep track of their workouts, the Nike+ SportWatch GPS offers a very attractive and simple solution, but it's on the pricier side.

Summary: First off, I'd classify myself as a fairly avid runner, running between 30 & 50 miles a week (5 runs), so I use this watch A LOT. The reason I appreciate it as much as I do is because I've used a few other products over the last 5 years, and their accuracy has been really frustrating to say the least.
I began with the Nike+ system 5 years ago when it was just a shoe pod, a dongle and your Ipod Nano. While it was a great idea, I would run distances as short as 3 miles and have this thing off as many 5 tenths, which is a TON. As smart phone popularity increased, I started using a few different GPS tracking apps on my phone and while they were very accurrate most of the time, again, at least once a week they would be off by even more than my old Nike+. Also, always being forced to carry a smartphone when I've already got my water bottles, gels, and everything else bothers me.
All of these things led me to try the Nike+ GPS watch, 1 because it has the GPS tracking that had proved so accurrate on MOST of my runs w/ the smartphone, 2, it had the footpod which would kick in if I was running somewhere w/o a strong GPS signal, and 3, it was watch, small and compact.
(Side note, you don't have to calibrate the foot pod like you used to w/ the old Nike+ system, as long as you are running w/ the foot pod and GPS turned on, it will calibrate it for you)
So, every day, since day 1, I've thrown on my shoes, walked around to activate the foot pod, then stayed staionary until the gps linked, ran 5-10 miles, walked back inside my house, plugged the watch directly into the computer, let it update my GPS information and download my workout, and to this day, it's never failed me.
FYI before your first use, make sure you download the newest software from the NikePlus website, and make sure you have your NikePlus account set up already. Once everything is installed, configured and linked, plug your watch in to get the latest GPS settings and watch software, then go for your first run, you won't be dissappointed.
Oh yeah, the negative things, I do like voice feedback instead of having to check my watch all the time, but, it's not that big of a deal, and, as far as the batteries are concerned, I'm a little bummed that it won't last for an entire Ultra....oh well2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Works as advertised!
by rank1983 on November 17, 2011
Pros: Smaller than other GPS watches. Looks like other sports watches so you can wear it when not running. Large easy to read display so there is no focusing in on it when running.
Cons: Battery life?

Summary: I was leary of purchasing due to a handful of negative reviews. I'm pleased with it after a couple runs (2 5milers) I used my old gps app on my phone to track the first run and they were very close. I think a lot of people don't take into account the 2.5% any gps claims to be off. No gps will be 100% accurate. This watch is very easy to use, plain and simple. I don't use a heart sensor so I can't speak about it. I'm happy I got it however I'm not sold on the battery life but hard to tell off the gauge how much as been used in a day.

Basic Runners GPS Watch with some flare!
by AdCaeser on May 16, 2011
Pros: Good fit for running and wearing all day. The TomTom GPS pickup was both quick and accurate. No rough edges or rash points for those long runs. As all of the basic feature runners should expect from a GPS watch. Seemed to be right on the mark for accuracy
Cons: Minimal feature control, similar to the Nike SportsBand you are stuck with the preset menus and order that Nike has built into the watch. They do allow you to remove some data windows, like Calories, Pace, Elapsed, or Distance, but reorder didn't seem to

Summary: I would say for the overall casual runner, or entry level runner this is a great watch and will accomplish all of the tasks you need it too, while remaining stylish, comfortable, and functional enough to wear as your everyday watch. With the $199 price point it beats the entire field of GPS watches on price.
Nike decision to include the Nike+ foot pod also makes this watch very functional for all of those treadmill runners as well as runners who are metropolis bound. As someone who travels often to major cities, there is nothing more frustrating then walking out of my hotel in NYC, Chicago, Houston, etc surrounded by highrises and having to walk around for 5 minutes with my wrist in the sky to triangulate the satellites. Now I wasn't able to "test" the switch-over capability or see how the NIke+ website handled that conversion, but according to Nike it happens pretty seamless.
Speaking of the Nike+ website, I have never been a huge fan, but also don't have too much to complain about. I think it is more of a feel issue with NIke+ website, a little too much Flash and a little too little function. Again, for the basic average runner that just wants to track/journal your runs, have social network interaction, and watch your progress as you go along, Nike has setup a good system for you. If you want more function you are stuck needing to use a service like Training Peaks. However, a really nice middle road would be using the site DailyMile.com. This is a social network site exclusive for fitness. And a big perk here would be the ability to connect your Nike+ account to your DailyMile.com account and automatically sync you runs! Unfortunately though it will only Sync your Stats, as of right now it does not send over the GPS data so you will have to draw your route using DailyMile.com tool.
In conclusion, if you are looking for a stylish everyday watch that you can use for both your training and everyday wear the Nike SportsWatch GPS might be a good fit for you. It is definitely comparable to the Garmin Forerunner 210 and below. The lack of custom screens and tracking in my opinion places it just below the Garmin Forerunner 410 (if you are in need of custom tracking).
I do not think it is fair to attempt to compare the Nike SportsWatch to the Timex Global Trainer or the Garmin 310XT. The price point or class of watch it not comparable. Both of these are much larger, have the capability to track multiple sports (Swim, Run, & Bike) and were designed with the elite runner/triathlete in mind. Also, both the 310XT and the Global Trainer have a much higher price point1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I am on my second watch in three months and now this one is going bad. The first one wouldn't connect to my home computer so they sent me a replacement as the support did not know how to resolve the issue. When the replacement did not connect either I resigned myself to having to sync my runs at work. Now after having the second watch for a month the screen flashes. So three months and two failed watches. Just want to return it now and save for a Garmin.

Awesome product, has reinvigorated my love for Nike+
by Emmy85 on May 2, 2013
Pros: So minimal. I've always got it on me ready to go for a run or as a stopwatch.
Can scroll through all my stats as I'm running.
Syncs quickly and easily
Battery lasts a long time if you just plug it in for a couple minutes after each runCons: If you don't sync it regularly you can experience trouble linking up to the satellite before starting your run. When I sync regularly it takes only a few seconds to be ready to run.
Summary: Love this watch, well worth it. It's really helpful to look at when you're trying to run new personal bests. Your history and records are on the watch ...

DO NOT BUY, won't last a year, $200 disposable product.
by scottcotter on February 18, 2013
Pros: looks cool, easy to use, performs as described, for 6-9 months.
Cons: after a little over a year of use, battery will not get past 45 minutes (for long distance runner, this is useless). Even the watch will not hold a charge throughout a full day. Nike told me to buy a new one on the web site.
Summary: disposable $200 product from Nike. Do not buy this product. Do some searches, you'll find others who are also disappointed that their unit was rendered useless shortly after the ...

Summary: I bought this watch when it was at the $200 price point and loved it from the start. It was a big upgrade over the footpod. I had heard from other users of the product that they had problems syncing their runs to the computer, but I didn't have any trouble. But after a little over a year of running and only 800 miles of use it finally stopped syncing to the computer. I talked to Nike support and they only offered a new one at $165. FOR A GPS WATCH COSTING $200 IT BETTER LAST MORE THAN 800 MILES OF USE! On top of this, the software was constantly having bugs and was hit or miss as to whether it would load up. Do not buy this watch unless you have budgeted to buy a new one every single year. It will not last. Since mine stopped working I have found that this same problem has happened with 75% of the users I know. Some were lucky enough for it to happen during the 1 year warranty. I was not. I would daresay those who gave this watch a good rating would not being doing the same now if they came back to give an update on the watch.

Great...when it works
by dondada73 on October 3, 2012
Pros: stylish, no frills, easy read outs
Cons: Connect software is pretty bad. Everytime they issue an "update", there's a good chance your watch is going to stop working with your computer. About a 50% failure rate. Getting a GPS signal seems to have worsended in the time i've owned this too...

Summary: This watch is a good concept. The watch itself is pretty decent as far as functions etc, it's the software that s*cks. Clearly Nike needs to hire some new (or competent) QA engineers. The "updates" usually cause problems about half the time (workouts won't upload, computer no longer recognizes watch, etc) Of course their stock answer is "reinstall the software". Really? How about you fix the bugs before releasing it? enough of this "consumer = beta tester and if we get enough complaints we'll patch it" nonsense...
Nike just replaced this watch for me yesterday. it was 7 days out of warranty. The fact that they offered ZERO resistance to me asking for a replacement (with NO receipt) further illustrates that they are aware of the mediocrity of this watch...and the salesperson at Niketown who processed my exchange confirmed this. "We're getting lots of these back"...
Updated on Oct 5, 2012
I'll probably switch to Garmin once this second Sportwatch inevitably stops working...
