The good: Nested layer sets; allows text editing on a path; tons of ways to correct colors; enhanced 16-bit operation.
The bad: Filter Gallery doesn't work in 16-bit mode or with all filters; XML requires too much work.
The bottom line: Photoshop CS remains the choice for professional image editing, and it's worth the upgrade, although some new features could be better implemented.

The best graphics software out there
by AllyBoushka on July 28, 2005
Pros: If you can dream it, you can do it
Cons: Big learning curve
Summary: This is definately worth the time and effort to learn the program. But if you're looking for a really easy photo editing program this is not for you.

I am a professional Photoshop user and I have not found any improvements in CS over 7
They deleted the 3D transform filter (which was beggarly but was better than nothing)
Hopefully some day they will add an envelope function, but don't hold your breath, it took AI over a decade.2 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Serious business tool...?
by TCinNevada on January 17, 2008
Pros: Lots of features, large projects
Cons: Way over priced, . Activation is buggy. Real fast computers take a long time to load. Shouldn't need to have every feature resident in memory

Summary: The lady of the house is an artist. After buying a new Mac she found that there was few alternatives available for the Mac. Always heard Photoshop was the best so I made the mistake of paying the very long dollar for the CS bundle. After Installing it wouldn't Verify. Took a phone call to use the program that I paid to use. Fast forward, she has a deadline and installs her new graphic tablet which has a Photoshop add on. Suddenly CS won't verify, Internet is down, she missed her deadline. Cost more than CS is worth...Serious business tool? I think not..As much as this white elephant cost it should have a multi computer licence. Last Adobe I will Buy. A good product made into a poor tool by a bad Idea.

Cons: Few to none

Good, but overpriced
by sfgfan10 on May 28, 2005
Pros: Wide Variety of Tools
Cons: Overpriced, most of the tools aren't needed
Summary: Great for editing photos, but most of the tools that come with cs aren't needed (grass-shaped brushes, for example) and just drive up the cost.

Summary: I have the feeling that Adobe didn't want Photoshop 8.0 because the CS version they regarded the new version as a new software that can be sold for around $600, but if it's an upgrade they can't get away with such a high price tag.
I am very disappointed in Adobe's marketing strategy.
Am I wrong in my assesment?

Not Paint Shop Pro 8
Pros: Can't think of any for this particular version!
Cons: Virtually the same as previous versions! Paintshop pro has the same features and more for a lot less money and is easier to use!

Nothing else compares
Pros: PS is still the standard. I've used Paint Shop Pro and Gimp, and PS beats them hands down. My wife is a teacher, so I got Adobe Creative Suite with an educator's discount ($400 for the entire suite vs. $1300). As for the activation, it hasn't been a pr
Cons: Well, I have a 2.5GHz machine with 1GB of RAM. That works pretty well, though another GB of RAM would be nice.
