  Solid choice to extend the lifespan of aging PC

  Summary: Very happy with this card and the diverse functions it provides. No lock up problems of any kind in my case, very solid. Installed the AGP version in a Dell 4400 along with a Northwood 2.8 P4 upgrade. Will keep me going until I can afford to build a ASUS,AMD FX, ATI crossfire system.

  Might be OK if the TV didn't constantly lock up my pc.

  I have a reasonably high end pc with an Asus P4C800 deluxe motherboard. From what I've been able to find by searching the 'net is that ALL the models of AIW cards with high-end Asus mobo's have a problem with random audio/video lock ups that require resetting the system. ATI, Asus and Microsoft say "It's not our problem".
  I had the same problem with my AIW 9700 and hoped that _this_ $600 Cdn card would work - NOT.
  Definitely the last ATI product I will ever purchase . . . and I've owned several of their top of the line cards over the years.

  I installed the newest set of drivers/instructions the other day. appeared to be ok.
  now I can't rename files with windows explorer without explorer.exe crashing my 'puter.
  The card may be dandy but you are paying a lot of money for features that DON'T WORK depending on your system.
  Check ebay as this piece of &*$^ is going away.

  I was hoping that AMD would make a difference with the drivers . . . NOT.
  I had everything working with a 5.? version of the Catalyst drivers - then had a brain cramp and deleted the MM centre by mistake on the weekend.
  So I downloaded all the *(^&&%$^& software to update to the newest drivers.
  Of course you need monopolysoft .net framework - and they provided a link. Unfortunately they didn't mention that the newest Catalyst drivers require version 2+ and you have to scroll down the page to find it. You'll find out about that when you try to install anything.
  Total time WASTED to uninstall/install the new drivers in what you would think could be a simple single download - 3 hours. Nice way to waste a Sunday afternoon.

  I had a brain cramp this weekend and uninstalled my version of 5.? MMC in error. Instead of restoring an old backup, I thought I'd try the newest drivers (sucker for punishment?).
  I downloaded the newest software _and_ printed the instructions.
  Got all the software and made sure that I had all the new files. Of course the monopolysoft .net framework had to be installed first - they even provided a link. Unfortunately, they don't mention ANYWHERE until you start to install the ATI software that you need .net framework 2+ . The link they provide has version 1.1 (which used to work) at the top of the page - NO mention of what version you need until you start the installation.
  Dandy. After almost 3 hours I had it sorted out - and surprisingly it works . . . so far.
  You'd think that they should be able to supply a single download that would remove/install the proggies that you need.
  Once again, absolutely the LAST ATI branded product I will ever purchase.
