The good: Shader Model 3.0 and high dynamic range lighting support; fastest DirectX 9 performance; Avivo video decoding.
The bad: Lags on OpenGL-based games, such as Doom 3; dual graphics card support depends on a special CrossFire Edition card with a murky release date.
The bottom line: ATI's second-best 3D card brings all of the requisite features to the 3D gaming table, but its specialized performance makes it less compelling.
Pros: Great-standardized chipset that gives you a very level and versatile starting point for just about any type of use.
Cons: It is a bit pricey, and can be difficult to use if you are new to the AIW game.

Summary: I am extremely happy with the AIW X1800 XL. First and foremost it has preformed top notch with gaming and entertainment apps. ATI’s new approach with bundling in ADOBE software has also paid off. It was one of the reasons I upgraded from my AIW 9800 pro. My biggest disappointment would have to be the buggy drivers and the ATI media apps that could have easily been integrated into one program and tucked away into one small icon for my desktop. If you want drivers that really work I recommend using a third party such as Omega drivers. They have lots of tweaks that have only enhanced the X1800 features.
