Summary: This card is solid, I don't know what the other reviewers are thinking! I have 512 kingston memory and a gigabyte mother board and it runs like a dream. I never lag on any game and when I buy a new game I just crank teh graphics up all the way with no problem! Far Cry made me cream my pants and HL2 knocked me oput cold. The hardware also helps with RTS games like Dawn o' War to produce thousands of models at no lag and amazing quality.

Summary: Reading some of the reviews, it's obvious there a some people so emotionally attached to Nvidia and it's GeForce 6600 GT cards, they won't give ATI credit, when credit is due. You get the idea these geeks are in love with the Nvidia girl on the box? For once I like to read a honest review from Nvidia geek. The CNET test bench figures don'tlie and the ATI X800 and X850 series cards are just amazing. ATI has always made quality graphics cards and have been in the business for years, so it's really nice to see them on top. This is one exceptional card, which gives you brilliant graphics, colors that burst on the screen are brilliant, and it's perfect for any PC gamer. I am very pleased with the one I got from Newegg.com. I would recommend it to anyone running XP. It works great with my P4 3.2Ghz machine with 1gb of PC3200 Ram. I have only a 350 power supply, but it runs this card great..compared that to
the Nvidia 6800 GT cards, which require a 480 power supply!
All and all, you cannot go wrong with this X800 Pro or you can step-up to the X800 XTP, which is the best card on the market.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

when I bought the thing it was a great card.
by mongeau on May 15, 2011
Pros: This card served me well for 3 years. Till UT3 came out. A new build brought me a nvidia 8800gt.. what a mistake the most over rated card I've owned. went to an ati 3870x2 and now a 4870x2..
Cons: I ended up tossing it in the trash since agp went the way of the dodo.

Summary: i am not going to bother with the full revew as iam sure it has been covered i just feel the urge to put right incorrect details in cnets most recent review this card will play all games as said up to around early-mid 2007 at the highest quality possible (if the rest of your pc is good enough)
and i want to make it perfectly clear that (as cnet said)
"This card is capable of running Windows Vista, without any of the new major features, and is suitable for Vista Home Basic."
is complete rubbish and i have to ask what system was used or what ?**/? did the testing ( no intention to be rude) i use my x800pro on vista and i find it works better using the new graphical features of aero and to further that point i now use windows 7 and if i dont use the new graphical features the computer is very sluggish and it works like a dream with all of the new features put into both vista and windows 7
this is a fantastic card period......... -
Still a relevant card, even in late 2007

Summary: I custom built my pc back in 2005 and I made this my graphics card choice. I had been let down by NVIDIA in the past, and I wanted to try my luck with a Radeon. I was not disappointed. I have the PCI XPress version of the 800XT Platinum, and the old girl is still going strong, of course with DX10 games hitting the market, I will be upgrading, but I plan on sticking with ATI in the future, I could not be happier with this card!

Summary: Having owned this card for a year, it still rocks the new games. Using the built in Counter-strike source video test, I get an average of 120 fps. In game, I get around 60 - 70 fps with spikes around 120 - 125 fps. For comparison, my machine is running: AMD 3200+ 64 bit at 2200 mhz, one gig patriot dual DDR, ASUS A8N-E mother board. The only other card to look at, is one with 512 megs of memory. For video cards that have 256 megs of memory, this one is a good choice.
