Answer to Dell Dilemma
by rooneydm on March 18, 2005
Pros: WiFi, Bluetooth, voice recorder, mp3 player, easy to use, good battery life
Cons: Needs SD card, Goofy looking faux camera on the back

Summary: I have been researching PDA's for about 8 months. Didn't want all the fancy stuff, but I did want windows and WiFi. The only answer under 400$ was a Dell. After using Dell's crappy computers in the Military, that was not an option. Dell sucks. Enter HP. Got the 3115 for 270$ from MP Superstore (Delivered to Okinawa in 12 Days!). Had it synched with my computer in 30 minutes! I had not set up my wireless network yet, but turned on the WiFi on the PDA just to play...and it picked up my neighbors network through cinderblock walls! Walked outside and found 2 more networks to surf on! The HP directions are pretty good, and they include a ?How Do I...?? book that answers a lot of questions that HP customer service gets. The HP website is great too, upgraded to a newer version of the PDA software. Took no time and worked perfectly. Really upset the wife when I changed the channel on the TV with it. If I had to complain about anything, it?s working with the Nevo Software that does remote controls, but that is an option that I wasn?t even expecting. This model is the same design as the higher quality models, so there is a plastic design outcropping on the back where the camera goes on the others. Looks kind of chintzy, but once again small potatoes. Otherwise, this little thing pretty much does everything. Anyone want a laptop?

not a typical PDA
Pros: WiFi is excellent. Media centre is slick but pretty useless unless you want to change chanels on the tv at the airport lounge. Excel and word aren't used much but it's great for keeping track of contacts on the go.
Cons: the stylus keyboard is slow and the ROM upgrade seemed to screw it up a bit. the battery can be heavily taxed while surfing. BUT! i have been surfing with it for 50 minutes (on it right now) and the battery is at 86%. you will or should buy a 128MB SD C

Works Great, Download Patch ASAP
Pros: Once I downloaded the patch from the website, this unit worked great. I've had it about a week and we are already inseparable. The remote control function is great and was easy to set up. Windows CE is much better than palm and syncs perfectly with the ma
Cons: When I first bought this product and set it up I kept getting emails returned from my mail servers with the error "invalid mail recipients." HP tech help had no idea what the issue was and claimed to have never heard of the problem even though an internet

Defective Screen Waranty too Short

Summary: You expect higher quality, and a longer lasting product when you spend $300 on a PDA. I have had this product for about 112 days and the lower left corner of my screen has disappeared when the backlight is on. I can see the lower left corner when I turn off the backlight, but then it is too dark to read. I have primarily used the Calendar and MP3 player, and I have always been careful handling it, and keept it in its case when not in use. It has not suffered a great fall or been misused in any way. When I contact HP about the issue, this was their response "We regret to inform you, that HP iPAQ rx3115 is no longer covered under
warranty. The warranty period lapsed on 2005-03-15. We can still send out a
box to pick the unit in for service. However, the cost of service will be
billable to you. An HP representative will be contacting you regarding the
details of the repair cost. The cost will be approximately $207.01." Do Not Wast Your Money! Read the other poor reviews - they have had the same problem too!8 out of 10 users found this user opinion helpful.

amazing pda, it has many features, and is still up to date with most of the current pda's

Summary: I am a student, ive had this pda for over 6 months. Recently i thought it broke because it wouldnt turn on, turns out the battery was dead. haha. It is a very good pda, it has everything i expected it would and more. I have had only minor problems with the software i installed on it (not from hp, just games and stuff i "bought").
Recently the psp came out, i think that this pda is as good, if not better then the psp. it does everything the psp does (exept play psp games), and it has a enourmous amount of programs you can "buy" for it. I think its better the the psp becuse it is smaller and the displays are about the same size. The games for it like tomb raider and age of empires have graphics as good as the psp's. The pda gives you the following features the psp doesn't: clalander, mobile media, msn messenger, internet explorer (i think psp has explorer though), remote control software, contacts, camera, and gps upgrade capability.
The screen is really nice on this pda, in my opinion this ipaq is better then the ipod, sure the ipod may hold a bagillion songs but with my 1 giiggabyte sd card i can hold more music then i will listen to in a day anyways.
Ths major downside with this pda is that the battery it comes with sucks alot. it is a 900mHa battery, playing music with the screen turned off i can only get about 4 hours of listening time. I want to get the ipaq 2900mha battery (3 x better, would give me about 12 hours of listening time) but i live in canada and hp.ca doesnt sell it, (only the united states hp.com does).
Conclusion: if your thinking about getting a pda, look into hp, buy this one!, you can't go wrong (thats what a 30 day money back guarentee is for) I was very satisfied with this ipaq and would recommend it other buyers aswell.7 out of 9 users found this user opinion helpful.

Very nice PDA, but no cradle?
Pros: Very nice for the $$$. Excellent features, WiFi works easily and perfectly. BT is nice if you have BT phone/car. Calendar is simple and useful. Spend an extra $100 and pick up a 1GB SD Card, it makes this a great package.
Cons: *** No cradle, very dissapointing. Video playback w/ some WMVs is a bit choppy. I'm still not over the non-cradle thing...

Good intentions, bad delivery
by ekbalam on July 22, 2005

Summary: I'm a business professional with a taste for the digital age of music. So the thought of being able to take my work with me on my PDA and have digital media at my finger tips was appealing.
Thus, my wife bought me the HP Ipaq 3115 for my birthday on July 7th. All was great for a while. I dropped about $200 more bucks on a new planner and accessories for my PDA.
July 15th, all is well, but it starts running a little showly when I access the programs menu.
July 20th, starts becoming not responsive for long periods of time when accessing Excel files and Word Documents.
July 22, screen ceases to respond to the stylus.
Thank God my wife bought this at Sam's with their 3-year warranty. I may wind up with the same defective crapper, but at least I can get my money's worth for 3 more years.4 out of 7 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great product for the value!
Pros: Many great features including iPAQ Mobile Media which is a program on it where you can download music, pictures, files and videos from your computer onto the iPAQ and play them on it. You must have a wi-fi network to do that, though. The wi-fi works great
Cons: Needs more memory. I would recommend an 256 mb, or higher SD card. You can store a lot more music and the iPAQ will run better if you do that. Only other thing that sticks out in my mind is that it gets stuck or frozen at times when you tell it to do to m

Excellent Value for 318.00 (at Sam's)
Pros: Integrated WIFI works and Bluetooth. The 3115 performs all the functionality of a PIM and some light PC/Laptop work. GREAT for the business traveler stuck in a cramped plane seat.
Cons: Sleeve Case is useless, be ready to upgrade. A dock would be preferable, but can be purchased after market.
