Jabra Cruiser price range: $54.99

The good: The Jabra Cruiser is a sleek and easy-to-use unit with good quality for hands-free calls and the capability to stream audio using A2DP. Built-in FM transmission further expands the flexibility of the unit by adding the capability to use external speakers.
The bad: Audio quality for music isn't really good enough for extended listening. Voice-announced caller ID doesn't speak callers' names, only phone numbers.
The bottom line: The Jabra Cruiser is easily recommendable based on its call quality alone, but the addition of FM transmission and stereo audio streaming push it close to the top of our list.

Hands free calling and wireless music all in one !!!
by 00siris on December 11, 2009
Pros: You can pair two devices for simultaneous performance, has self it's own speaker and an option to "broadcast" audio over the air, can program your choice station, can control the music from the devic for true hands free experience.
Cons: Sometimes will disconnect from the car radio mode by itself, output volume is just a tad weak, pairing mode is not so intuitive.

Summary: When I got my new car, it didn't come Bluetooth enabled so that I could handle my cell phone calls through my car's speaker system. I considered getting an after market system installed but I learned that you had to get a "Bluetooth Ready" unit, then buy the "Bluetooth adapter", and then finally have it instatlled (for a price). There are, of course units that are truly Bluetooth enabled but they are very expensive even before the installation costs. THAT'S A GOOD THING!
Its a good thing because I was turned off to the Bluetooth car system until I came across the Jabra Cruiser which offered the same thing the installed unit would do and so much more at a much much cheaper price.
The Cruiser, of course, pairs with my cell phone and handles all my calls through my car speakers. The sound is very clear and the radio frequency output has little static that is so often a big annoyance for lesser quality models. I can change my frequency by merely pressing the the up or down buttons on the unit without ever taking my eyes off the road.
What's also good about this device is that I don't have to make my calls over the air. Should I choose, I can handle my calls from the unit's speakers and have my car radio playing low in the background (or not at all). So if there's no radio present, the unit will still work.
But that's not all. My cell phone has an 8 gig media card filled with some of my favorite MP3s. I can play those through the Cruiser and hear them on my car radio. WOW WOW WOW I must say, however, the volume, although clear, is just a bit lower than the car's radio volume. I'll even listen to Pandora (internet radio) from my phone and hear the songs through my car.
It also allows you to control your cell phone's playing to pause, replay, skip forward and backward, from the Cruiser. This way, you don't have to pick up your cell phone to look at it to control the music. You just press a button on the Crusier and it will do it. On the cell (pending on the brand and model), it can also access many of your cell phone's functions. For example, to access my cell phone's "Voice Dialing" feature, all I do is press and hold the Jabra's speaker button.
The Jabra Cruiser is also totally portable. I'm so glad I didn't pay all that money to get a radio installed in my car because if I did, I wouldn't have been able to simply take my unit with me and have the same experience in any car. Not only that!
Any stereo in the house can also pick up the signal so you can enjoy your music/phone calls where ever you go within range (which is not to shabby). WARNING - over the air is not secure at all so if your call is considered private at all, you will not want to "broadcast" it.
Other stuff :::
The Cruiser also conveniently offer voice instructions where it "tells" you what to do.
It offers dual mics for greater quality and being able to use 2 devices simultaneously.
And it's talk time is an impressive 10 hours (although I wasn't able to verify this.
On the negative side, instructions out the box are a bit ambivalent and the unit has a tendency to power off of radio mode mode every once in a while which is an easy fix but nontheless annoying.
This unit is well worth the price point.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I had a Jabra SP700 and I liked it so much I tried to get another one, but I ended up getting the Jabra Cruiser model instead. Glad I did, because the FM signal is stronger, and it has three extra buttons to control music playback on the unit (so you don't have to reach for the phone to skip tracks, etc.) The Cruiser also has a power switch (which I didn't think was needed). If you plan to play music, get the Cruiser. If you just want the speaker phone, the SP700 is a great value.
The Cruiser has a great, clean-looking design and is very simple to use. All main functions are done by pressing the body. One quick tap to answer or end a call. Press for one second to activate your phone's voice command mode. It turns off automatically when you walk away and forget to turn it off, so the battery seems to last forever. (I'm still going on the initial charge.) Press for five seconds to initate pairing mode with your phone (only need to do once, and very simple). A voice annouces each mode change. It really can't get any easier than that. The only complicated command is to change the language. That requires some sort of three-fingered vulcan nerve pinch, but I like the nice British lady (she seems very polite), so I haven't bothered to figure that one out.
The call sound is very clear on both ends, and full duplex so no cut-outs. What more could you ask for? Well, how about music. If you live in an area where the FM band is full, you might not get good clean sound in FM mode. The FM power is intentionally weak to avoid others listening in on your call. But since I always assume that someone can listen in, I would rather have enough FM power to overcome weak co-channel interference. The Cruiser has enough power to do this. The music playback mode works as advertised, and FM mode on your car speakers sounds great. The built-in speaker not up to the task for music.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Horrible!!
by classicaviator on April 22, 2011
Pros: None that I can think of.
Cons: Range is very low, and it keeps shutting itself off randomly. The volume auto-control makes it impossible to get good quality music sound out of the car speakers, and the people on the phone get annoyed that I am either too quiet or too loud.
Summary: At first seemed to work okay, but very soon it started to get more obvious that this thing is a piece of junk. First of - the sound is terrible. ...
Summary: At first seemed to work okay, but very soon it started to get more obvious that this thing is a piece of junk. First of - the sound is terrible. My older Bluetooth wireless adapter from China works much better, and it cost less money. Secondly, the unit seems to shut itself off for now reason either in the middle of a phone conversation, or in the middle of a song. Sometimes it will play for hours no problem, sometimes it shuts off every 5 minutes. I would not recommend Jabra to anyone. Stay away!

1. looks - nice thin, stylish black. But smooth plastic is a fingerprint magnet.
2. loud speaker - you'll have no trouble hearing it. But quality of the sound is just so-so.
3. good mic - callers on the other end have no trouble hearing you, no need to raise voice
Bad:
1. no support - check the jabra web site yourself and you'll see.
2. no phone support possible - outside japan, china, australia, singapore. NONE in USA.
3. it doesn't work: mine had failure of the on/off switch and the FM transmitter - right out of the box. upgrading the firmware did not fix it.
4. construction if flimsy - I doubt this would last more than a couple of months. If you drop it, I'm pretty sure it will break right open and shatter. The cheap plastic does not inspire confidence.
Bottom line: I don't recommend to anyone. And after this experience, would never buy Jabra again. You need a company with USA support or at least email tech support. Also look for something that doesn't look like a plastic halloween replica. -
Great for the money
by biginvstr2 on October 19, 2010
Pros: Fm Transmitter rocks, links up easily, sound quality through speakers is great
Cons: It turns off the fm transmitter everytime I turn the car off. It is not a huge deal just have to hit the button everytime.

I'm a cruiser newbie and love it so far.
by roadjungle on September 20, 2010
Pros: I'm having a hard time finding low or bad sound quality through my phone because it was never my intention to use the Jabra Cruiser for music. I may be getting older but I'm happy with my radio and CD player for music.
Cons: I had to play and find the button on the unit that connects to the car speakers and clearly states the radio station. Could not find that in the instructions I skimmed through.
Summary: I will update after a few months of use. Just glad I found that left button to utilize the FM car speakers. The guy at Costco didn't even know ...
Summary: I will update after a few months of use. Just glad I found that left button to utilize the FM car speakers. The guy at Costco didn't even know he had that feature and owned it since it hit the store. Glad I could help. I have been told my sound quality is wonderful and it is great on my end.
So my only con so far would be is that it took me 5 minutes of find he on/off switch for the radio. Now my Chevy Impala hands free Blue-tooth works as well or better then dads 65,000 Lexus. Still working on the voice control or maybe I need to dial utilizing my phone, not sure yet. -
Not compatible with the iPhone 4
by tconnally on September 4, 2010
Pros: Well constructed. Fairly decent FM.
Cons: The iPhones "limited AVRCP and PBAP" does not function with this unit. Therefore call answering with the phonebook name is not functional nor are the units back and forward music play buttons.

Summary: Jabra on their website claims compatibility with the iPhone 4. However the iPhone4 and some other phones have "limited AVRCP and PBAP"The Jabra CRUISER does support AVRCP (to change music tracks) and PBAP (for Caller ID), as long as your phone has the necessary Bluetooth profiles. These features are highly phone-dependant and will not work if your phone does not support them. For caller ID, the CRUISER uses the PBAP or phone book access profile, and if your phone is not compatible with this, it will only announce the caller's phone number and not the name.

Music Connection Very Poor
by hytekmfg on April 9, 2010
Pros: When it works, it is a great little device. Along with a Moto Droid and a Verizon Car Dash holder, I now have a hands-free multimedia station, GPS and phone, allowing me to dispense with my XM radio and GPS.
Cons: FM transmitter for music works about 50% of the time.
Very static reception sometimes. Antennae needs improvement.Summary: The bluetooth connection for media (music) works about 50% of the time. It's very, very frustrating trying to reconnect over and over again to get a good connection. I ...
Summary: The bluetooth connection for media (music) works about 50% of the time. It's very, very frustrating trying to reconnect over and over again to get a good connection. I have to also switch frequencies often to minimize static, unless I wish to keep my hand over the Jabra Cruiser which seems to extend the FM transmitter capabilities. I can see more careless motorists getting into accidents trying to get their media to play correctly while they're driving.

Not worth the money
by mauisean on March 10, 2010
Pros: very good sound quality, connects with device very easily
Cons: Absolutely the worst I have ever used for voice command recognition
Summary: Don't buy it if you use the voice command menu. If just for sound quality alone, the dual microphones are great.

Cons: Multiuse/Multipoint seems to not actually be built into this product despite the feature being listed on the box.
