The bad: The Clear Harmony is an expensive product, and Able Planet has yet to establish a reputation on high-end audio turf.

Best I have used
by chet_brewer on June 27, 2010
Pros: 1. Excellent noise cancellation, on an airplane I am completely isolated with them on
2. Very comfortable to wear and to sleep with on your head
3. knock out both airplane noise and screaming kids
4. good sound quality from IPODCons: 1. Bulky in your carry on, case does not fit in airplane seatback
2. kind of pricey but not as ridiculous as Bose
3. cord with adjustable volume is a pain
4. can't hear either the stewardess or the loudspeaker :-)Summary: You can find them on sale at buy.com and some other websites. I paid a little over $200. I have previously used Sennhausen pxc300 and there is no comparison. ...

I bought these in the boston airport on an impulse. The store manager said they are good as BOSE
by horstjosh on July 20, 2007
Pros: - Sound was incredible, they work if battery is dead, very comfortable
Cons: - Little pricey, bulky like the BOSE so you need room in your carry on
Summary: They were great and I have been very happy with them. I like the fact that I can still use for music if the battery is dead.

Not worth the price tag. Satisfaction genre dependent.
by liszt85 on December 1, 2011
Pros: Nice carrying case
Works without battery (but muddled)
Tight fit (some people may not like this)
Good battery lifeCons: Poor noise cancellation performance (only works in low noise environments)
Creates noise on its own
Highly susceptible to cell phone signals
Crackles periodically (not all the time) if cell phone is anywhere near itSummary: Sound quality: I listen to a lot of classical music. I don't really like the fact that it adds these higher harmonics to the sound altering the timbre of ...
Summary: Sound quality: I listen to a lot of classical music. I don't really like the fact that it adds these higher harmonics to the sound altering the timbre of the various instruments involved. I somehow lose the "authenticity" behind the music. Other than that, I guess the sound quality is ok, nothing really to rave about there.
Build quality: Feels solid, though the components look somewhat cheap. I also don't really like the shape, it sticks outward from your head (the shape is probably similar to the Bose QC2, judging from other reviews, but I'm not sure as I haven't used the QC2).
Noise Cancellation: I was highly disappointed by its NC performance. It does alright in very low noise situations. Its passive noise cancellation is good because the ear cups by themselves remove some noise. Its the active noise canceling that's disappointing. In high noise situations, it generates its own noise, presumably to mask the external noise but I am able to hear BOTH the external noise and the added internal noise and its annoying! So if noise canceling is a priority, go for the Bose QC15! Also, it crackles in the presence of cell phones. I've had it happen twice. A periodic crackling sound appears in the left ear cup. It happened during the day time but it did not after I got back home, at night. I then put my cell phone near me, and it did some crackling (though not as periodically as it did during the day time when I had the cell phone in my pocket). So I'm not sure they've fixed all the bugs in their noise canceling technology.
Comfort: Its a tight fit. Not tight to the point of discomfort. However, I don't know if I can wear these for more than 2 hours without being fatigued around the ears. I haven't tried but I found the QC15 much more comfortable (I tested them at Best Buy and might buy them soon).
I will keep these though because I got it from Groupon for $69 and its not eligible for returns! :( However, I'm glad I didn't spend $300 on these, so I don't mind keeping them. I'll just have to get better headphones for travel purposes and for higher quality music listening! -
Groupon price of $69 for $300 studio headphones!
by jordanmarx on November 26, 2011
Pros: noise cancellation, rich tones, good bass, kit for different types of inputs, and case. Comes with dedicated volume control for amplified sound
Cons: List price is a pit steep, it's not a "known" brand.
Summary: At a discount, this is a definite five star product, if you bought this at the $300 price, probably 4 stars.

Disappointed (I also have both Bose QC15)
by law12019 on October 19, 2010
Pros: Comfort: The fit of the head phones is good.
I like the inline volume control which Bose does not have.Cons: The noise reduction causes a very low frequency rumble. The finish of the plastic looks cheap compared with Bose. The slide-on battery cover seems cheap.
Summary: I am going to return this headset. The only reasons I could imagine that this brand got good reviews are:

The pair I got are bad and not the norm or my hearing is more sensitive to low frequencies than others.
The noise reduction might be OK for an airplane, but I use it mostly in my office. Bose noise reduction is way better. -
Worked great for 3 hours. They then crashed and burned
by vstromman on September 24, 2010
Pros: Very comfortable. While it worked the first unit had very good sound. I have a hard time hearing voices and the first set of phones helped in this regard.
Cons: The honesty of the company is in question. The long term quality of the headphone is also in question.

Summary: I bought the first pair at an airport location. They worked great for 3 hours. The music was clear and so were the voices. They also did a very good job of clearing away airplane noise. After 3 hours, the left side broke down and started a scratching sould. They were unusable after that. I called Able Planet and talked to the lady that answered the phone. She advised that my set was the first set that has had any problem. ( A very large question mark came up then. First one to have problem? Yea, right!) She also said that she would send me a new set. A few days later, I received a refurbished unit that had clearly been used. They were not even in a Clear Harmony box. I talked to the same lady and she tried to tell me that a refurbished unit may not be a used unit. Right! Sure! This unit did not sound nearly as good as the first one so I sent the brand new (yea right) unit back. So, I then called the store where I made the purchase, They sent me a brand new pair. After listening to them for about 3 minutes, I packed them back in the box and sent them back. They sounded terrible. The music sounded ok but the voices were unrecognizable. If Able Planet can get the bugs out of this headset they are going to have a great product. As of now, the bugs are still crawling around inside and causing havoc. And Clear Harmony needs to hire an honest person to answere the phone. I hope she does not represent the company's values.

Nice but not BOSE.
by vegga22 on February 17, 2010
Pros: Price was cheaper than Bose, the package comes with a few useful items. Design.
Cons: Not totally noise canceling but gets the job done, and that why i didn't give them 5 stars. The travel case should be harder, instead its a case that can be crushed. Needs batteries to activate noise cancelation.
Summary: Overall these are great for someone on a budget, the style, design and price are all nice. Don't confuse these with "BOSE" because you'll be disappointed, there a ...
