Believe it! These headphones are fantastic.
by rapisardo on September 5, 2011
Pros: Extremely open and spatial sound. You forget your wearing them, the sound is that natural and the fit is that light. I listen to these on a Pioneer Elite AV receiver. After a break-in period the sound is spetacular. I tweek the bass slightly (1db) per my
Cons: Screechy out of the box, which worried me at the beginning. THIS GOES AWAY AFTER SOME INITIAL USE. Large size, but don't care. Open back design means others in a quiet room can hear them. It's not loud, but they can hear them. My wife is not a big fan of

Summary: Best headphones I've heard for the price, and I'm VERY picky about audio gear/sound. I have taken them off more than once during music and movies, concinced that sound I was hearing IN the headphones was coming from outside. So when you hear knocks and bumps and whispers remember: "It's only a movie."

A solid pair of cans for music production and mixing
by sys40198 on March 19, 2012
Pros: -Durable
-Great sound: Natural, revealing, and detailed sound
-Great spatial sonic field
-Detachable cable is always a plus for me
-I got these for under $300, so pretty good deal compared to other headphone of comparable qualityCons: -Kind of "fugly" and Bulky (if you care bout that)
-Poor isolation & leak noise, not the best to use in public, but that's not what they're made for
-Sort of inefficient as far as power, you'll need to drive these harder than other headphonesSummary: In my very subjective opinion, the k702s are great studio headphones for the price.

The k702s have an open sound, very detailed in the mid-range. The highs might be a little "bright", but it actually compliments my studio monitors. The low-end is maybe a little understated, but still deep and well defined. But the long/gradual roll-off actually gives me a better idea of what's happening w/the bass in the mix & and if anything, it makes me add a little more bass (better than the other way around for EDM).
The k702 are awesome studio cans. They are accurate & honest enough to make reliable mixes. They're fast and responsive to EQ adjustments. What I find the most useful is that it is a great tool to work w/the fine details that can be harder to find with monitors.
While a great for a studio, i think it's weaker as a general purpose headphone. And they're honest, not flattering. Some headphones make everything sound good, these wont. Also, they're open-backed, which means poor external isolation and the k702s will project sounds outward. Totally cool in a studio/at home, less cool while studying in the library. They also need an amp to sound at their best. I'm not an "audiophile". I mainly listen to music on the interweb, iphone/itunes & usually end up using other headphones b/c K702s are a real soft on those devices, bulky & awkward to take everywhere.
The K702s are amazing for certain applications, but depending on what you want there may be better options out there -
After break-in, wonderful 'phones
by chytownchris on June 13, 2011
Pros: Very comfortable and work well with most kinds of music. They need a very lengthy burn-in period to sound their best. A minimum of 500 hours and I noticed improvments up to 1000 hours. I am not kidding. I used pink and brown noise and classical music. Onc
Cons: Needs a good headphone amp so plan on spending more money. Portable players don't have a chance. Also plan to invest in an after market cord so even more $$$. You will not enjoy the full potenial without both of these upgrades.
Summary: Well made and very comfortable. I've worn them for hours with no discomfort. Out of the box the high end sounds harsh and screeches at you. I almost returned ...

Great sound, hard to move
by nedloh321 on May 18, 2010
Pros: The sound is fantastic. I sometimes hook them up to my laptop, and they sound great, but when i use them with my stereo, the sound is beefy, crisp, and clean unlike anything I've ever heard. This is the real way to listen to music.
Cons: They don't come with a carrying case, which makes transporting them difficult. They are rather large and bulky.
Summary: I highly recommend these headphones, but if you get them and plan on traveling, know that the do take up some space. They fit great and sound amazing, well worth ...

Wow, is all I can say.
by thesoccercreator on April 18, 2010
Pros: Amazing sound. These phones are some of the best I've been blessed to listen to. Quality of the sound was excellent, they were EXTREMELY comfortable, and they sound great with my amp/ipod.
Cons: They are large, but i dont take them out of my house. They never came with a case, which is pretty non-bodacious.
Summary: Buy this if you are an audiophile. No doubt i'd encourage this to be bought. Harmon industries is beast.

Best deal, best sound, large package
by chubsvaughan on December 20, 2009
Pros: Gorgeous sound; you'll hear every finger on a guitar and every instrument will stand out in its own space. Listening to music is new experience for people used to low- to mid-range priced headphones.
Lightweight at 0.5 lbs, comfy.Cons: These are large, very large, so if listening to music in your cubicle is your goal, you might look like an ass.
The pads aren't cushy-soft like Boss headphones - they're pretty firm, and sound does leak out, especially from the outer diaphragm.Summary: I purchased the AKG 702 as a gift in hopes that the sound quality out-weighed the lack of portability, and was not disappointed. Summary: I purchased the AKG 702 as a gift in hopes that the sound quality out-weighed the lack of portability, and was not disappointed. We haven't broken them in yet (estimated at 100 hours) but have combed through every well-produced album we own and these headphones have exceeded my expectations. The 8' cord length is nice and the cord doesn't crimp or tangle. I'll update as I get more experience with these, but wanted to put a first user rating on here.
