The good: The AKG K495 NCs are stylish, well-built headphones with excellent fit and finish. They sound good, offer effective noise cancellation, and are rechargeable via USB. They also fold flat and come with a nice carrying case and can play without the noise cancellation engaged.
The bad: At $350, they're pricey--and should sound even more refined; a little light on the bass.
The bottom line: The AKG K495 NCs aren't as comfortable and don't sound quite as good as the Bose QC 15s, but they're built better, offer very good noise-cancellation, and recharge via USB.
Great sound quality / mediocre comfort

Pros: Sound quality is fantastic
Great noise cancelling
Build quality is also fantastic
No Batteries, has USB coord to charge
Cons: Very specific parts, hard to replace (wire, usb charger)
Light pressure over the ear

Summary: I purchased these headphones per a glowing recommendation from Magnolia A/V. The sound quality is fantastic. I compared them side by side to a pair of Bose QuietComfort 15s and my old stalwart, the Sennheiser HD 518s, and overall felt the sound quality was better than both. I don't quite see why people are saying they lack in bass - I thought the bass response was on pair with both of the aforementioned sets, with much clearer highs and less muddled mids. I have no complaints at all about the sound quality with these headphones.
As far as noise cancellation goes, it's pretty good. I'm using these in a noisy office environment, not on a plane or bus, so it's possible it performs differently in those environments. The Bose did a better job of silencing the conversations around me, but when I had music playing, I couldn't hear anyone around me, which is good enough for my needs, even if not best in class. I also love the fact that they work with the noise cancellation turned off - although the sound quality does drop off a little bit. The built-in rechargeable battery is an additional nice touch.
My biggest complaint with the AKGs is regarding comfort. I wear these headphones most of my day at work, every day - so comfort is paramount. On the plus side, their on-ear design means they don't squeeze my glasses like some over-the-ear models do (especially the Sennheiser PXC 450s). However, they definitely squeeze my ears. I barely feel them for the first hour or so, but after that, the pressure starts to build, and eventually I have to take them off for awhile. Hey...maybe that's not a bad thing. Encourage me to get up from my desk and go for a walk or something.
Build quality is also fantastic. They really do feel like a premium product, and durable, too. I really like the detachable cloth cord that it comes with, and that the ear pieces swivel the way they do.
Overall, these are great headphones. Try them out - if they are comfortable enough for your needs, definitely keep them. The sound quality is enough to offset the downsides.

Great Sound but Very Poor Build Quality.
by seanibeans on June 11, 2013
Pros: Fairly comfortable, excellent sound quality, range, clarity, and exceptional noise cancellation. Battery charges quickly and last a surprisingly long time.
Cons: I've had 2 pairs of these headphones and they've both cracked and broke where the where the head-band meets the joint for the pivot arm of the ear-piece. The first pair were a gift that lasted 3 1/2 months. The second pair lasted only 2 1/2 months.
Summary: Harmon replaced them, under warrantee, with fairly little hassle, but who wants to go through that every 3 months, and not have the use of the headphones (because they wont ...

Good sound, they don't last more than a few months...

Pros: Nice Sound, good battery life, good noise-cancelling.
Cons: BAD mechanical design = They break every few months and require exchanging them.

Summary: While I have no complaints about the sound quality, noise cancelling or battery life, mine have broken at the same spot twice (= poor mechanical design). The problem is at the point where the head-band meets the ear-piece support at a right angle (which means it's probably due to a poor choice of fillet radius resulting in excessive stress concentration leading to fatigue cracks). I was extremely careful with the second pair but even then they only lasted for 10 months. I would definitely NOT recomend this product (something at this price level should last more than a few months).
Superb sound and comfort
