The good: Extracomfortable; highly effective noise-canceling circuitry; device folds for compact storage in included carrying case; 30-day home trial.
The bad: Expensive; when the battery dies, so does the music.
The bottom line: Bose's standard-setting noise-canceling headphones have just upped the ante.

A name and image, I'm not buying into it
Pros: The headset cushions fit around the ears and the battery is incorporated into the headset.
Cons: Bose feels that they do not have to validate anything and that the lucky consumer should feel fortunate that Bose will accept ridiculous amounts of money for technology that is not backed with any specifications. How can I say that? Look on their websit

Not worth the $ by a long shot.
Pros: They do "work," and mid-bass (not low-bass) better than in-ear cans.
Cons: I checked 'em out for a day or two and just returned them. Obviously, this sort of evaluation is so subjective, but I found them both "unmusical" and mediocre for noise reduction (the two features you're buying them for), greatly inferior in both ways to

They WILL break with normal use.
by cybotic on May 11, 2005
Pros: Potentially the best noise cancelling fones available
Cons: Design fault in the plastic means they will fall apart even with the most careful use.
Summary: This product needs v3. The flimsy design of the plastic soon breaks. Expect it to last about three or four months before the cracks appear.

Mine have been into repair twice, and are now bound up by elastic bands and gaffer tape.
Not quite what you expect for 300 pounds/dollars. Bose service is second to node however, and they have sent a courier to replace them, giving me a new pair each time. But still....
In terms of thier function they are in a league of their own however, and I don't regret my purchase (despite cracks, elastic bands, tape and all). And bear in mind 330 pounds is $550 (yep UK is a rip off)

These break too easily.
by lucyrat on December 30, 2008
Pros: Good sound reproduction.
Cons: I have owned these approximately nine months and the pads have broken off twice. Both times, I opened the case and pulled out broken headphones. I only use them a couple times a month.I am not impressed with the sound-canceling feature either.
Summary: There are less expensive, more reliable models on the market.

Defective plastic cracks and cost $100 more
by mawgyit on November 18, 2008
Pros: great noise cancellation
great sound balanceCons: when on the plane, headset cannot touch the seat's headrest. If it does, vibrations from the plane gets transfered as buzzing noise! This is due to it's large size

Summary: I have been a long Bose fan. Had their home audio system, it excellent and no issues for 10+ years. I had the original QC2s with defective joints (ones without screws), Bose was considerate enough to replace them for me with the new design which was supposed to fix this plastic cracking issue. About 1+year later, with minimal use (I mainly use Shure due to their small size) it started to crack again. Tech support mentioned my warranty is over and will cost $100 for replacement or $150 to upgrade to QC3. For those prices I superglued the broken pieces and will save up for competitors headphones, they are now just as good. Why is BOSE refusing to provide us just the replacement parts only for a much lower cost? Totaling at $400 and potential to break again, there is no way one would keep putting money down the drain.

Fool me twice, shame on me

Summary: Originally I bought a pair of the original Quiet Comfort headphones. Loved the sound quality, especially the round bass sound. Problem was, in a year the headphones started to fall apart. I talked with Bose on the phone. They told me that they had replaced that model with the present model, which they would sell me at a big discount if I sent back the old phones, so I did this. Again, the new phones had excellent sound, but again the have fallen apart. On both sides the plastic has snapped and needed to be fixed with super glue, so they no longer are adjustable. The material on the ear cuffs has had to be replaced twice in two years (at $50 a pop). In brief, for an expensive product, the materials and workmanship is as shoddy as one would expect from a cheap product. I never will buy again from this company unless I am much richer than I am now. At $300 for these headphones, one shouldn't receive a disposable product. Having been disappointed in the same way twice, I won't get fooled again. And by the way, I'm a 61 year old man who doesn't treat these headphones with the sort of abuse that a teen ager might. Great sound, shoddy materials. I'm looking for something else now. I recommend that people do not buy this product. Rating: DO NOT BUY.

Summary: A warning to anyone who is considering purchasing the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphones. My THIRD pair of QC2 headphones broke today on the plastic piece between the headband and the earpieces. The first two broke within less than one year of use and were replaced by Bose under warranty. From discussions with Bose customer service representatives, this was a very common problem with the first generation QC2 device.
My third QC2 was apparently a revision designed to solve the headband breakage issue. This one lasted two years. I called Bose Customer Service (again) to complain and was told that Bose refused to replace my headset because it was no longer under warranty. But they offered to sell me a replacement for $100.
I declined -- who wants to pay every year or two for a product that in all probability will just keep breaking? I will never purchase another Bose headset ever because they are so pricey and seem to be slated to break within a year or two of use. My expectation is that an expensive headset should last much longer. I'll probably never purchase anything by Bose again. High price, so-so quality.
While intact, I enjoyed my QC2 - very comfortable and did a good job of helping tune out crying babies on airplanes and chatter in the office. But [...]is too much to pay for a product with a high probability of breaking.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Worth every penny!

Summary: I was debating whether to buy the headphones or not but I did and let me tell you, it was worth every penny depending on who you are. If you listen to music for a lot of the time then I would definately say to get them. However if you already have a $200 set and you don't listen to music a lot, they may not be right for you.
I put them on and before you even start to play music you hear a sound reduction. Then when I did play the music I couldn't hear anything. I had my friend scream as loud as he could and nothing! The sound is so clean and crisp it literally feels like there is someone singing right next to you. At times I forgot that I had the headphones on. In a different review someone stated "When I read the comments of people on here who say these are the best headphones ever, I don't know whether to laugh or vomit." I completely disagree. First, this depends on a couple of things:
1. The song you picked (if the song is bad quality, the headphones won't turn them into a live concert)
2. The music player (if the music player has bad quality the same thing will happen)
3. The battery (if there is a low battery the sound isn't as good)
Also, the headphones are so comfortable and portable. The heaphones collapse to fit in a beautiful carrying case provided. The length of the earcuffs are ajustable so the whole family can use them.
The wire can be disconnected to leave just the headphones, which is nice.
So overall, if you have the money, get them. They're worth the price, just don't loose or damage them.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Poor sound Quality, Buy something Else
by bleedblue12345 on February 20, 2008
Pros: Decent Noise Canceling
Cons: Terrible Sound Quality, Bad Construction
Summary: I bought these headphones thinking they would be good. Boy was I wrong. I recently bought a decent pair of headphones (http://www.amazon.com/AKG-Open-Back-Studio-Headphones-Flat-Wire/dp/B000FOU51A/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?...

and a decent headphones amp
these things BLOW the BOSE completely out of the water. It is unbelievable what you miss out with on the BOSE. The BOSE has very heavy bass, terrible highs, and bad midrange. They sound about as on pair with the $40 pair of headphones I am currently wearing. MUCH MUCH better can be had in this price range and for a little more.
Stay far away.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
