Klipsch Image S4i earphones with mic price range: $99.00 - $99.99
- Reviewed by: Jasmine France

The good: The Klipsch Image S4i earphones offer exceptional sound quality for the money. They're also very comfortable and, the package includes a few handy extras such as a storage box and cleaning tool. Plus, there's a call answer button, mic, and iPod playback controls integrated into the cord.
The bad: The cable of the Image S4i earphones is pretty thin and tangle-prone, and the included eartips may not work for everyone.
The bottom line: The Klipsch Image S4i earphones offer up sound quality on par with and better than sets that cost many times as much, and they include compelling extras for iPhone and iPod users.
The Klipsch Image S4i earphones are nearly identical to their sibling, the Image S4. They provide the same comfortable fit and stellar sound quality, but also offer the added bonus of an integrated mic and call answer button, as well as volume controls and remote playback for the iPod. Call quality through the inline mic is solid, though not overly spectacular for a wired headset. At $99, the Image S4i costs $20 more, which is probably worth it for those with an iPhone. For more information, read the Klipsch Image S4 review.

Amazing Value especially for the price

Pros: Incredible Sound, Superior Controls and mic placement.
Cons: Wires look fragile, but work so far.
Summary: You get amazing sound with Klipsch S4i's for $99.

I took my wife with me to the nearest Apple store and bought 2 different headsets.
I bought the Apple $79 In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic; my wife bought a $99 set of Klipsch S4i's.
I have an iPhone 3GS and she has an iPhone 3G
My wife is a concert violinist and has managed a symphony orchestra and a philharmonic. She has a keen ear for sound.
I ran heavy equipment, and rode Triumphs and Harley's for years. I've lost some ability to hear higher notes.
I spend hours each week on conference calls; and then more phone time talking with clients. I got the iPhone as a present, and was listening to music when a call came in. I was amazed at how much better I could hear and understand what was being said with the stock earbuds that came with iPhone ... especially when compared to my Blue Ant VI bluetooth headset. But the iPhones stock earbuds really are uncomfortable to me. After an hour long phone conference I was hurting.
Anyways- my recommendation to anyone who wants to hear incredible sound from their music and still have a really good working phone mike for work or general conversation is the Klipsch S4i's.
My wife and I tested these and we both agree. The sound difference is truly substantial.
The Apple's headset sounded good to me. I was impressed, as was my wife. Lots of compliments from friends on how clear I sounded on the phone also. They are a big improvement over the earbuds that ship with the iPhone.
But the Klipsch S4i's sound MUCH better than the Apple.
With the S4i's I could hear things "clearly" in music that I could only hear so-so (and sometimes not at all) with the Apple's.
The S4i's mike sounds great on phone calls according to my friends.
The microphone and controller of the S4i's are easier to find and use than the Apples. The controller is bigger and is centered below your chin, instead of along the wire going into the right ear like the Apples. If you are wearing gloves this makes a big difference!
The controls on the Klipsch blow the Apples control away. Far Superior
The Apple controller just didn't work that great. Very hard to skip back one track by using it.
The Klipsh controller is perfect and works the way the Apple's are supposed to work.
(You have to have a 3GS to use them, they won't work on my wife's 3G. Even so she's keeping the Klipsh for the incredible sound)
For just $20 dollars more than the Apple's - I strongly recommend the S4i's to anyone who uses their iPhone for both work and entertainment.
The S4i's are comfortable also, I had them in for 4 hours today, and barely noticed them.
I had to give them back to my wife when she was going to her workout...bummer.
I'm returning the Apples and getting the S4i's!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Excellent balance of size, sound quality, and comfort.
by JurisDoctorTechie on February 4, 2010
Pros: Size is very compact for ease of transport and making them ideal for a variety of uses (gym, airplane, etc.), sound quality is excellent, very comfortable in ear for extended periods, and integrated mic and iPod/iPhone controls are wonderful.
Cons: As the CNET review indicates, the wire are thin and tangle-prone. However, this is typically a minor issue.
Summary: Put simply, as the review summary line states, these are an excellent balance size, sound quality, and comfort.

Best earphones for iPhone 3GS
by Iceblades on January 30, 2010
Pros: 1. Sound Quality - Excellent full range, here the deep thumping bass in Hip-Hop to the highs in symphonies.
2. Control Location - Centered and easy to use
3. Lightweight
4. Comftorable silicon earbuds with a natural oval shapeCons: None yet, so far they are my favorite earphone for the iphone.

Summary: These headphones do a great job of isolating outside noise. I have a pair of bose earbuds, and use them in the office when hearing ambient noise is important. I can use these on a flight without having to drag along bulky noise cancelling headphones. As one would expect these headphones do not leak ANY noise, when you have the volume cranked.
The volume on these headphones are also very impressive. I usually have to turn my bose in ear headphone up to 80-90% where these headphones are at 50% for the same experienced volume.
Having the controls on the main center cord (prior to the cord split to R and L earbuds) has several unique advantages: although the controls are light, they are centered on the headphones and it makes operation easier as well as feeling centered, also this allows the sliding cord manager to silide all the way up to the earbud cans (not having to stop a controller).
Voice call quality is suprising fantastic , suprising considering that the mic/controls are at upper chest height.
The button controls are very responsive and the raised buttons make them easy to find on the fly without looking.
If I had to pick between the bose (which I still love) and these, I'd pick these primarily because they include up and down volume controls (as opposed to bose's one buttong control). They are a very worth upgrade to the stock headphones and are MUCH MUCH more comftorable for wearing long duration.
I've only had these for a week, so I really can't comment on durability. They seem very well built and are very sharp looking. The seems substaintial enough to last, but only time will tell. -
Best headphones for iphones.
by linusco_com on December 27, 2009
Pros: controls work great
excellent at cutting out sound
great sound. Bassy (if you like that). Ear bud cleaner. Great price.Cons: cord is stiff so you get some knocking when it bangs against your ear. A little bassy.

Summary: I was looking at the S4's that have a great review when I saw these suckers for only $20 more. The mic is a fantastic addition to great headphones with excellent sound. Sharp twills and the bass is well rendered (almost feels like there's a separate woofer in the driver). Excellent rendering of every detail of music (expecially live music where you can really feel every nuance of the crowd).
The controls allow to fast forward, back track, volume, play, stop, answer calls and hang up the phone... all with one button! Volume up and volume down.
I have very small ear holes and these are the only buds that ever fit and held in place.
I work with embroidery machines by trade (www.linusco.com) in a small room so I needed to cut out the noise while I do graphics work int he same room and the buds needed to be comfortable for a long 10hr work day. Everything fits the bill. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and I would highly recommend these.
Other headphones I own:
Sony MDR-V500
Sony Headbuds
Platronics headphones

Summary: Great earphones, very nice being able to activate voice command features of my 3GS while it's in my pocket. Just wish the microphone and buttons were located similarly to the standard earphones that shipped with my iPhone. Would be better if the cord was made of the same material as the shipping earphones as well, less prone to tangling.

decent midlevel headset, but not worth the money
Pros: sounds slightly better than the Shure model of similar cost, nice carry case, sound quality is better than super cheap headsets
Cons: cheap, tangle-prone cord.
Summary: sound is ok (better than the super cheap headsets), but for $20 more, the bose set is much much better sounding.

Crisp highs and booming bass!
by Smegz on October 30, 2009
Pros: Rich sound with crisp, clear highs and deep, booming bass. Convenient remote with mic make using these for calls a joy.
Cons: Either the buds are mismarked or they are supposed to be worn upside down in your ear with the wire wrapping back around your ear. With my large head, this is uncomfortable so I wear the buds backwards (left bud in right ear and vise versa.)
Summary: Sitting pretty in the sub-$100 spot I can highly recommend these to anyone looking for excellent sound for a reasonable price. After being a long time user of V-Moda ...
Summary: Sitting pretty in the sub-$100 spot I can highly recommend these to anyone looking for excellent sound for a reasonable price. After being a long time user of V-Moda phones, these were a joy; reproducing V-Moda's bass response without muddying the highs. The remote with microphone is very convenient and calls sound wonderful.
