Summary: The last 'phone I had in this price bracket was the Sony MDR V150. There simply is NO comparison between the two. Sound signature is a lot more resolving and detailed but not so much that you feel like you're listening to a more expensive headphone. Bass has fine detail if not a little light in body. High hats and cymbals sound crisp and precise however when things get busy the highs break down and become shrill. Going from Grado SR60's to these I noticed some highs and some vocals sound a little disjointed and distant, but this is rare.
I really don't know how Meelec managed to optimize such cheap parts. They did a good job creating a seemingly flat and balanced sound. These won't please bass heads and they get shrill with fast paced highs from electronica or metal but overall these are great for the price. It's nice to have sound this balance on the go at work. And if these break, which they seem as if they won't for a while, it won't hurt so much to replace them.
Their complete and utter lack of isolation is a plus to me because while I use them at work I also have to be able to hear what is going on around me. Not only are these ideal for that but they don't lose their adjustment easily like, say, a Portapro would.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

BEST headsets I have ever had the pleasure of owning!!
by Mz.Carrie on April 15, 2011
Pros: What is there not to say about this pair of headsets? Crisp highs and lows. My daughter loves them for her personal DVD player. My son has also borrowed them for his mp3 player and he wants me to buy his a pair, he said you don't need volume with these
Cons: Not a thing!!
Summary: You'd be sorry if you didn't buy this set of headsets...yes they need time to burn in that is why I had everyone in the house trying ...

HT-21 is meelectronics First Portable Headphone. They are already quite famous for their great price/performance ratio with their current IEM's lineup.
Meelectronics describes HT-21 as "Enjoy powerful bass along with class leading clarity and a spacious presentation, extreme comfort, and the convenience of a single cable and folding headband"
Specifications :
Driver: 40mm dynamic transducer
Impedance: 32 ohm
Sensitivity: 114 dB
Frequency Response: 20Hz~20kHz
Cable length: 1.2m (Left sided), single-sided; 45 degrees plug
Accessories/Packaging: The HT-21 arrives in a fairly standard cardboard box with a plastic window, allowing buyers to see the headphones. Inside, a plastic insert holds the headphones in place and and comes with a bundled drawstring bag, although made from crummy textured plastic it's a cheap addition that shouldn't figure in your buying decision.
Build Quality : The HT-21 is a closed-back supraaural headphone which can be folded flat and collapsed to save space during transport. The overall feel of the headphone is quite light, which is aided by the plastic material used for the majority of the construction. The ear cups are padded with leather like material. The headbands are flexible for height and the ear cups are also foldable which can be folded flat and could be carried easily in the carry bag included
Cable: The cable is thick and flexible and is well relieved with a hockey stick shaped L-plug
Comfort: These IEMs are very comfortable to wear, being an oval shaped insertion design that allows these to pretty much disappear in ones ears. Deep insertion levels as well as wearing them over the ear are not possible due to the oval shape.
Isolation: Noise isolation is nearly nonexistent despite their closed-backed design
Sound Quality:
Burn-in: Its been burned to 100+ hours before the evaluation.
Amped / unamped: Not much of a difference, these are drived easily by even low power sources
Lows: The bass is a bit punchy but it's not very deep, they do sound tight and well controlled
Mids: There is an overall smooth presentation of the mids and clarity is an obvious strong point that stands out with these headphones. It is crisp, clear and blend well with the highs and tend to lean very slightly towards the cool side of the spectrum on the whole
Highs: They perform the same way as the mids- crisp, clear with decent extension. Though a bit of sibilance can be observed with bad recordings more at high volumes
Soundstage: Sound stage is airy and good for a closed set, definitely ones of its pros, the 3D layering and differentiating is quite good particularly in clarity and control
Final Conclusion : The HT-21s are a great choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and portable set of headphones that won't break the bank. While not overly proficient in any one aspect, they are certainly competent in all areas. Sound quality is highlighted by excellent clarity with no glaring weaknesses, and the comfort and portability factors round out a nice package -
Downside? What downside?
by cigaromn on June 22, 2012
Pros: Excellent, well balanced sound quality.
Cons: Too soon to tell about the durability. I've read some reviews that say they are easy to break. The construction looks pretty good to me.

Summary: I just did several hours with them running through a diverse and extensive library of music. I thought they did very well with everything I listened to. These replaced a set of AKG K26Ps and I couldn't be happier with them. I like the fit of these better than the AKGs they replaced. The sound out of them is well defined. I don't think they miss much if anything at all. You can't beat them for the price. The AKGs made noise from the frame movement as you moved your head while wearing them. These don't. We may be on to something good here.
There's no way I would have tried them if the cnet editors hadn't given them such a high rating. Good call, dudes! -
Mini money, giant sound

Pros: They fit into my hoodie pocket! Lightweight. Not bulky. Fold-flat design. Inexpensive but sturdy construction nonetheless. Sound GREAT.
Cons: Cannot think of any.

Summary: These tiny little headphones pack a wallop in terms of their sound quality and ability to isolate your ears from the outside world. They're really very simple, the design is a stroke of genius, and you only have to spend what amounts to pocket money to have them. I love these headphones. This may be in the running for the best $20 I ever spent. Don't be turned off by the low price point, these are great.

Summary: I was just going to post some feedback on these phones when CNET published this review. I also recommend them because at this price point, and even higher, it would be tough to beat the HT-21s. Especially if your kids go through phones fast, or if you need a pair of on-ears (rather than in-ears) because you prefer the style. Excellent choice and highly recommended.
Specifications
- Manufacturer: MEElectronics
- Part number: HP-HT21-BK
- Description: Enjoy deep and powerful bass along with good clarity and a spacious presentation, extreme comfort, and the convenience of a single cable and folding headband. The supra-aural design (ear cups rest on your ears) uses ear cups that swivel to fit the shape of your head/ears and a padded, lightweight, adjustable headband that is comfortable for long term wear. The cable is designed without a split, connecting only to the left ear cup, eliminating cable tangle and frustration. Sound leakage is reduced due to the closed back design of the ear cups, so you won't disturb your neighbors like an open backed headphone. Travel with a headphone has never been easier, as the headband folds and the ear cups swivel into a compact size perfect for storage and travel during those rare occasions you will not be listening to the HT-21.
