Summary: If these are your first experienced with in-ear phones these are a great choice. First to get the best sound you need a perfect seal. Experimenting with the different tips should result in a satisfactory seal. Follow the directions that come with the Turbines. If all else fails and they don't stay put with your level of activity or they're still uncomfortable, Comply t-400 tips will solve any issue with fit and slightly temper the bass. These have wonderful bass and work best when not deeply inserted and still offer very good isolation from external noise. They get better with use. Burning in happens with normal use it just takes a bit longer than "forcing burn in" and generally results with the best sound for the type of music the owner prefers. The cable is the weak link, I'd rather not have a straight jack and I'd like to see better strain relief for the money but I've had no issues so far after nearly a year of regular use. I am careful and most of my listening is done sitting or walking. The overall sound is fun, leaning towards strong bass and strong treble with mids being clear and not too forward or recessed. This is no minor trick and Monster has really succeeded delivering a pleasant enjoyable and fun sound. They are sensitive enough to be driven off the cliff by any audio player and with a good player they're nice at subdued volumes with little to no distortion with increased insane volumes. They can be worn behind the ear or with a cable clip to limit microphonics but with any in ear you're going to hear yourself walk, chew, etc. due to bone conduction. After a while you just tune it out. While touted as in ear speakers by Monster (and they are iddy biddy dynamic speakers in fact) your music is felt to be heard in your head and sound stage isn't the same as listening to room speakers or with good headphones. It's different but agreeable. I'm listening with mine as I write this review and enjoying the heck out of them.

Be very gentle with them!

Summary: I love these headphones, but they are not so great on durability. Had them for about a year now and the right one goes in and out with moving of the cord. I solved this with a toothpick and obscene amount of duct tape. Works well now if I'm careful not to move the cord.

Awesome Earfones.
by chunkie on March 9, 2011
Pros: Nice solid design. These earfones are a good allrounder for listening to all types of genre. Ive used skull candy's recently and thought I was getting good sounds ! No more looking to see what is the lh and rh plug as their colour coded.
Cons: Their should be the foam type ear tips included with the selection in the box.
My advice is to spend a bit of money and get the t-400 comply foeam tips as they give an exceptional seal in your ear canal, and replace them every 2-3 months.Summary: Im no acoustic expert but my ears tell me that the difference between these and previous earbuds are massive. Summary: Im no acoustic expert but my ears tell me that the difference between these and previous earbuds are massive. Im now hearing my music how it was meant to be heard. People talk about bass, highs and lows. I just say WoW.
Im now eager to hear the next track to enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed. The contruction is solid and the included cable case is nice but I dont think I would need to use one. The earbud attachments are varied but in my opinion should have included a set of foam ones to show what type of seals can be achieved. I use comply t-400 attachments as they provide the best seal for me but thats just my choice. Try them and see the difference. In conclusion go get these earfones and enjoy your music. -
don't waste your money, disposable quality, tinny sound
by Vin226 on March 5, 2011
Pros: they look okay
Cons: Subpar sound and cheaply built. My first pair lasted about a month, my second pair 6 weeks. Nasty customer warranty service, have to wait on hold for hours to speak to unpleasant ,not helpful customer rep.
Summary: They don't last longer then a month or two. Worst sounding headphones I have ever used. Life is too short to put up with bad headphones. Klipsch S-4 sound ...

Summary: I don't know what anyone (with bad grammar) could find wrong with these. I absolutely love them. Full bass extension, clear mid range, and crisp high end with out being brash or overly bright. Build quality (metal NOT plastic) and packaging are superb. Highly recommended, albeit after you find the proper fitting plugs.

Summary: From my experience with headphones are the worst i got. Music can't be listened with this monsters, they are really a turbine they sound just like on. The back of the headphones is metal ... heavy metal and the front is a little tiny plastic opening from where the sounds come out. I am not happy at all, I'll stick to my previous models from other company ;)
I cant belive the people are just saying stuff about the headphones and never refers to how music is coming out of this monster turbine. I would take this off the market.

With the right fit, AMAZING
by chewypear on January 14, 2011
Pros: Excellent tonal balance, punchy bass, sparkling highs, and warm mids.

Summary: I first bought these buds as a present for a family member. I listened to them after they were unwrapped and frankly, they didnt live up to my expectations. Even after trying to get the best fit i could, the bass was not there, the treble was scratchy and coarse and mids had no depth. The sound-staging was profane for a price of buds costing this much. Also, with a fit of anything less than perfect and the considerable weight of the set, they had a tendency to fall.
After some research, I bought some comply t-400 ear buds. They seemed massively expensive for pieces of foam. However, the difference was immediate. I am now convinced that these are some of the best headphones in the price range. Massive bass when wanted, warm mids and crystal clear treble.
Ultimately, I admit that i listen to a ton of music of all types and at all volume levels. I have long known the importance of a good seal when using ear buds but i have never seen a change as drastic as this. These are a wonderful set of ear buds, once the right seal is established.
Specifications
- Manufacturer: Monster
- Part number: 127593
- Description: Unlike other headphones that can't reproduce deep bass, Monster Turbines accurately reproduce even the lowest bass notes without distortion. You'll hear thunderous low-end for incredible sound with every kind of music, from the thumping bass beats of hip hop tracks to the deepest pipe organ notes in classical compositions. Monster Turbines truly deliver the big sound, power, and clarity that you'd expect from full size high-end speakers. That's why we had to call them speakers, not headphones.
