The good: The Philips SHE-9850 offer solid sound quality, a sleek design, a comfortable fit, and handy extras.
The bad: The Philips SHE-9850's bass response is mushy at times.
The bottom line: The Philips SHE-9850 In-Ear Headphones are an excellent choice for style-conscious listeners who demand comfort and detailed audio response.
Philips is no stranger to the headphone market, mostly turning out a line of inexpensive earbuds in the $5 to $25 range. Now, the company is stepping up its game with the SHE-9850 In-Ear Headphones, a $100 pair with a sleek and comfy design and good audio quality. We're hard-pressed to find anything not to like about these earphones; although bass response seems mushy for certain tracks, the SHE-9850 can certainly hold its own against other sets in its price range.
Philips has a reputation for sleek design and it shows in the SHE-9850. The headphones are stylish, comfortable, and durable. The thick, black cable measures 47 inches from the 'buds to the straight plug, which is encased in a gunmetal-colored magnesium housing. The slender earbuds match that color and feature some chrome accenting as well. Philips includes three sizes of silicone sleeves and one set of foam tips to ensure a proper fit. We had no problems fitting the 'buds securely in our ears, and they even provide a good amount of passive noise isolation, though this is not an advertised feature. A nice metal case, a cable clip, and an earwax cleaning tool are also included in the package.
The inner workings of the SHE-9850 earbuds are no less impressive. Each bud features a high-definition transducer composed of a coil, a metal U-shaped armature, a pair of permanent magnets, as well as a drive rod and a diaphragm. Electromagnetic currents move the armature up or down, which then moves the rod and diaphragm to produce the sound. What this means for the listener is generally great audio quality. The high-end detail is particularly nice, with shimmery acoustic guitars and tingly sound effects. Music also sounds warm and buttery through the mids, with soft female vocals that really shine. Our only complaint is that bass response is not as tight as we would like across many tracks, specifically those that have a lot of other effects going on around the low end. Bass is present, though, and overall audio comes through quite balanced.

Summary: i expected MUCH more from this product when it costs me almost 3 times my current earbuds (Creative EP 630). Sadly it just sounds so.. normal, no sense of clarity at all. I know the review stated that its not very high end, but i didn't expect it to be THIS bad.
Im better off with the EP 630s..1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: Good fitting sleeves, strong noise isolation, good overall sound, looks cool, nice accessories, work well.
Cons: Pricey-ish, bass could be better.

Summary: The Philips SHE-9850 in-ear headphones are in general good sounding headphones that work at a decent price range and can block away a good amount of external sound. The packaging looks really nice and so do the headphones themselves. The ones i bought were the last ones in stock at the moment and are sort of hard to find if not buying online, but are still worth it. Get these headphones, you won't regret it.

7.0/10 good, but underwhelming for $85

Pros: good sound quality at lower volumes, amazing metal case, foam tips and rubber tips, rubber offer great seal and allow for great noise-isolating
Cons: higher volume levels and not eardrum blowing up levels make the earphones distorted, lacks bass, foam tips are crap and mine ripped after having for 1 day! Underwheling for $85
Summary:

Pros: Sound great, wonderful fit right out of the box, and awesome noise isolation - you can't hear anything when they're in
Cons: Only minor gripe is that the cable can make some minor noise when brushing against clothes, but it's definitely not bad
Summary: These are a great buy! They fit so well that you can barely hear anything with them in even if the music is off - once music is on nothing ...
Summary: These are a great buy! They fit so well that you can barely hear anything with them in even if the music is off - once music is on nothing will interrupt you. I listened to pretty much every type of music once I got these and the clarity was really good and they really made the songs come alive (one of Califone's sonically dense songs sounded fantastic, for example). I've been looking for a new mp3 player with better sound quality so that I can fully enjoy these (I've been using them with my PC mostly for now). Enjoy!
