The good: Wireless headphones; lightweight and extremely comfy; excellent sound quality; transmitter base doubles as a battery charger; built-in volume control.
The bad: Noise and hiss sometimes intrude on the sound; volume and tuning controls are too close together.
The bottom line: Sennheiser's affordable, comfortable wireless headphones sound almost as good as corded 'phones.

Sennheiser's latest RF wireless-headphone set is that rare midrange model that outperforms its pricier sibling. The RS120s ($110, with a two-year warranty) look hip and offer home-theater and music performance that's considerably better than that of Sennheiser's more expensive RS65s. Were it not for the occasional interference, we'd think we were listening to corded headphones.
The RS120s weigh a slight 8.1 ounces and enclose and coddle your ears. They proved comfortable even after a long evening of listening to DVDs. A built-in volume control lets you crank up the action, while a transmitter control lets you fine-tune the reception. A minor annoyance is that these two controls are located next to each other on the right earcup, so we were sometimes treated to a blast of static when we just wanted to adjust the volume.
The transmitter base serves as a charger for the headphones' included pair of AAA nickel-metal-hydride batteries, and you can place it near your components or mount it on a wall. Just remember that you must hook up the transmitter to the analog stereo outputs or the headphone jack on your HTIB or receiver. Reception was generally clean and free of noise, but at times whistling and buzzing sounds distracted us from the sound of our DVDs and CDs.
The RS120s' sound quality is even better than that of Sennheiser's wireless RS65 headphone set, a more expensive model that was a little too mellow for our taste. With their excellent detail resolution, the RS120s shined on DVDs and CDs, although their bass power and definition were only fair.
Home-theater or music aficionados tired of being tethered to their receivers should give the RS120s a listen. If, however, you can't stand even the slightest interference, consider a corded model such as Sennheiser's HD515 set.

Lightweight, affordable & great sound quality. Comfortable even after 4-5 hours of constant use.
by d0nbennett on April 13, 2005
Pros: Complete freedom with sound that rivals my aging $300 AT Electrostatics! While not the absolute BEST sound, a great compromise (esp 4 freedom like @ the PC). Found my "refurbished" set for <$60!
Cons: Headband simply won't get tighter. . .On the other hand, unless doing jumping jacks, it's immaterial. . .Probably also what makes them feel so good!

Summary: Just the most comfortable phones I've ever worn. Combination of light weight, no cord and on-the-ear design. Great range [one end of the house to the other] with no degradation in their clean sound. With most phones, pressing the earcups harder to your head is the only way to produce satisfying bass. Not so here. One of the few I've even encountered where doing so yields no improvement. If you can find them refurbished for <$70, don't be scared off. My were perfect in every way. [Most "refurbished" have nothing wrong with them anyway, they are simply overstocks and returns.]

Surprisingly Satisfying Experience
Pros: Excellent sound quality. RF require's little adjustment in close range. Convenient design where transmitter also functions as charging stand. The two switches on the right earphone, volume and RF adjustment, being too close (as mentioned in other revie
Cons: Product packaging did not make clear that the stereo inputs are for a stereo or theater entertainment system, with right and left stereo banana plugs. If you want to use with typical portable, bookshelf, or computer stereo systems, you have to buy a Y a

Summary: Excellent sound quality and a very stylish charging cradle. My only gripe is the slight hissing noise during quiet moments but I listen to my pumping music loud anyway so hardly notice it. Also found it a bit tight around the head but maybe that's because I have a big head! Other than that, well worth the money.

Great sound and design for the price. Money well spent!
by cghost on March 30, 2005
Pros: Good sound, bass, and comfort. The rechargeable base makes it extremely easy for recharges.
Cons: Some hiss and would have liked the ear pieces to be cupped to provide more sound isolation.

Summary: Hands down, you will not be dissapointed by these headphones. They are a bit big, but very comfortable. The weight for its size is relatively light in comparison to other wireless headphones that I tried. The cnet review says that the volume and frequency dials are too close together, but I beg to differ. The dials are next to each other, but you can clearly distinguish one from the other and not accidentally adjust the wrong dial.
Once you have the right frequency set, you're good to go and the sound is crystal clear. Walking around though, you might hit some hisses and cuts in the sound. I was able to walk around my backyard (up to 100 feet away from the base) and still listen to my music. That is an awesome experience to say the least!
The rechargable base is great too. Hanging the headphones on the base is so simple, like hanging your jacket on a hook. This makes the headphones so useful and easy to use. Installation of the cords was simple also. All you have to do is plug the power into the wall and conncect the stereo line to some rca jacks - that simple!
The only thing keeping this from a 10 rating is the hiss and I wish that the ear cups would have been enclosed so that the sound stays isolated around your ears. At high volumes, a person next to you can hear what you're listening to.4 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Good Value. RS 120 confused with IS 380 by CNET
Pros: Just bought them. Appears to be a good value for the price. The higher models use a propietary rechargable battery. These use normal rechargable AAA batteries, which I view as a plus.
Cons: CNET first look by Steve partially erroneous:FM modulation NOT Infrared. (The IS 380 are infrared.)CNET effort appreciated. Looking forward to full review. BTW, not necessarily a con however, despite the marketing, they are not made in Germany but rather

Pretty good buy
Pros: Understand that wireless headphones are still a compromise...but these are pretty good, better than I expected. Great range, decent bass, lightweight.
Cons: I don't feel that the phones are too heavy, but they are bulky...come in Mission Control...

Useful product and decent sound; not for true audiophiles

Summary: This is a great product for those looking to get rid of wires and be able to roam freely in the house, but the occassional hiss or static can be annoying to true audiophiles. Fortunately, I'm not one; I was just looking to get rid of wires and be able to move around in my office with reasonable sound. To my delight, it does just that plus allow me to get chores done around the house with only a minimal loss in sound quality the further I get away from the base. Recommend looking for this product on eBay for better prices (as I did.) The stand is unwieldy but I also have very limited desk space so it's probably ok otherwise. Bulky headpiece with old-fashioned switches is a disadvantage.
Bottomline: Good product for less discriminating listeners.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Outrageous Sound!
Pros: Light-weight. You'll forget that you're wearing them. Sound comes from all over, and not one sound on your TV is unheard! Goes to every room with great sound!
Cons: I would like to purchase another base for other TV instead of another entire unit, but can't find the base alone.
