The good: The Shure SE425 earphones provide fantastic audio quality and a durable design. The package includes useful extras such as a case, a quarter-inch adapter, and the Shure Fit Kit.
The bad: The Shure SE425 earphones will not fit all users comfortably, and they take some effort to put on. Shure has eliminated its modular cable design.
The bottom line: The Shure SE425 sound-isolating earphones are an excellent choice for eclectic listeners who demand stellar audio and a high-quality design.
Pros: Much better construction, more durable, better midrange, better imaging, not quite as bright on the top end (although its close), lower cost compared to the $500.00 SE530's, great for vocals, acoustic gutair, slightly lower listener fatuige
Cons: pronounced roll off of lower frequency's, The 530's give you more body, richer, fuller music with much more bass. The trade off is the lows on the 530's do "muddy the water" for the midrange and greatly effect imaging.

Summary: After listening to both pair I'm left with a longing for what could be. You almost want to change ear buds depending on what type of music your listening to. I find myself listening to the new SE425's more but I'm aware of whats missing the whole time. Considering the much lower price and much better construction the SE425's are a great improvement. Its sad they had to roll off the lows in such a pronounced manner. At the same time its confusing why the $500.00 530's couldnt maintain the midrange and imaging of their newer lower priced brother.
Pros: The sound quality is very good..perfect balance beteen mids and bass..also the sound isolation is excellent. The cord is just the right lenght is a bit heavy but I guess sturdyness comes with a price..
Cons: Cons?the fact that two pairs broke for the same reason:the detachable ear buds develops in time a play which leads to interupted sound whem movind the head..very annoying and dissapointing for such a well known brand with such a reputation

Pros: The mid-range is massive clear and detailed on the SE425. Detachable cable.
Cons: Missing some bass on the upper portion of the low range.

Summary: SE425 is what SHURE is, superior sound, and with the bonus of affordable cost. For those who don't want to fork out half a grand for the SE535, this is sure a worthy pair to buy. And here is what REALLY is different about the SE425 and the SE535.
SE425: GREAT mid-range, better than the SE535 and SE530(older version). On the bass, it is missing some juice when you listen to hip-pop or techno. But the interesting thing is that it does great for frequencies on the lower 25-50Hz range and misses the 50Hz-200Hz range and does WONDERFUL again above 200hz.
SE535: Generally GREAT from bottom to top in terms of sound. Nothing can really compare to the SE535 in in-ear type headphones. BUT, it is missing some mid-range, when listening to classical and some vocals, you would want to stick with the SE425.
The one "hoping to be good" thing about the 2010 line of SHURE in-ears is the detachable cable. I had to buy three pairs of SE530 over two years because one side lost sound completely due to cable wear. The new detachable cables can be found online for around $50 and will hopefully be an alternative to replacing the entire set for half a grand on the SE535 and $300 on the SE425. The only concern is the detachable cable means the connector is another "waiting to be field tested" feature that has not yet been proven to last...
For casual listeners, I recommend the SE425 over the SE535. You really have to sit tight and listen focused to get it all out of the SE535.
