  Best headphones for their price! Beats $$$ models!

  Pros: Outstanding sound range and depth. Extremely clear and vibrant. Sounds great plugged in to any portable device. Slim and stylish design. Angled Plug seems sturdy. In-line volume control allows users to keep portable devices in their pockets.

  Cons: Cord could be more sturdy. In-line volume control seems flimsy. It did not come with a carrying case or cable extension. All understandable for it's price range.

  Summary: I have been on a mission to find the best headphones for the money, and under $150. I think my mission is complete in purchasing the mdr-ex58v earbuds. They are very sharp looking and have a slim design which is ideal for listening with my head resting on a pillow or propped during long car/bus/plane rides. The cord is the perfect length for a portable device. They come with 3 sets of earplugs for a custom fit. The plugs are soft and fit comfortably.
  
  I have tested or purchased just about every earbud in the $15 to $150 price range and these are one of the best in terms of depth and range. In my opinion, they sound fuller and have a more complete sound than the highly touted Klipsch s4s (although the s4s do have better sounding highs). They honestly sound just as good as my $80 Sony mdr ex310lp model (although not as loud, they have clearer highs). They have much clearer highs than the Dre Beats earbuds. The finish and style is more subtle and sophisticated than the noted models as well. They are not the loudest, but the tones are rich and make every kind of music sound great. After an equalizer adjustment and raising the preamp level I am amazed at the sound clarity even at high volumes. After burn in the hissing in the highs has dissapeared, and the low frequencies have become more responsive.
  
  If their is a weakness, it would be on very loud, tight and punchy bass (It struggles when the volume is MAXED on my portable device). However, rolling baselines are rich and clear.
  
  A higher quality cable and volume control knob would be nice, but that would probably raise the price also.
  
  Save your money and try everything within your budget before purchasing earbuds! Look for a set that meets your needs...
  
  How the earbuds fit has A LOT to do with the quality in sound. A loose fitting earbud tip will rob you of sound depth. Having to stuff your ear with a earbud tip in order to seal the ear canal will eventually become too uncomfortable for you to wear. Strike a balance in this. An earbud that slides in comfortably and still seals the ear canal is what you are looking for. You might even want to have a set of earbud tips from an old set that fit well on hand when testing new sets.
  
  Also- IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE THE EARBUDS WITH A PORTABLE DEVICE, BRING YOUR PORTABLE DEVICE TO TEST THEM! What is pushing your earbuds is more important than what earbuds you are purchasing. If you notice something lacking in the sound, adjust the equalizer to see if they can handle the sound you are trying to acheive. Do this with every model you are testing.
