Ok Heaphones, Nice Sound, but physical construction Needs Work!
by Musttafa on April 16, 2005
Pros: Very clear, nice sound, with very good bass. Long cord that enable you to put the mp3/CD player in any pocket, keep ears warm:)
Cons: Very poor construction, cheap cheap plastic, start to hurt the ear after 10 min especially when they are new:(

Summary: Sony saddened me with this produt. It has really nice sound and bass they snug the ears but they have problems. I am on my second pair right now since the first pair right earcup to head band joint broke. I had it replaced at Best Buy (best store service around!) three months after i bought it, so best buy was nice enough to allow me to exchange them for a brand new pair even when my 30 days were up. These are made with cheap plastic, and for $30 i dont find them worth it, it should be more like $20 since of its cheap construction. They are a little big so storing them is not easy. I suggest to not use them in school or places where you constantly put them away and take them out again since this can make them break. Also these 'phones dont fold so another reason not to use in hide and take out conditions. When thses are new they hurt the ear badly after 10 minutes of listerning time, but after some use this wont happen.
All in all great sound, great bass, but not worth the $303 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Very good sound for the below-25 dollar class of headphones.
by cliff_marsland on January 22, 2007
Pros: Very nice sound for the price.
Cons: The headband breaks.
Summary: I used these for a year-and-a-half on my Creative Zens. I gave it an 8 because it's better than any other under-25 buck headphone I've had.

Of course the sound isn't going to match 250 buck headphones, but it's very clear and passable bass for that price range. Much better than the 14 buck Sentrys that went into the closet after a day.
The bad part is the headband. For people with big heads, one has to extend it to about it's limit, and it breaks. At the end, both sides were taped on and a pen held the left side in place. I've since upgraded to the MDR-V600 for my mp3 player, and I have an MDR-V900HD, which will soon replace the 600. I've also owned and used the 7506 a long time.3 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great quality headphones, which cause some hair loss XD
by Anima42 on December 22, 2009
Pros: Superior sound quality comparted to most others. They feature reversible earcups (VERY useful), the longest freaking cord I've ever seen for headphones (6.6 ft), and finally a detachable 6.3 mm jack for use with older or more powerful equipment.
Cons: There is a light fault in the design that causes it to pull a few hairs out of my head when removing. This can be annoying at times. I also should mention that I have long hair, but it could happen to anyone. :P Other than that, there's no problem
Summary: These are amazing headphones; I'm not gonna lie. I picked these up at my local FYE at the mall for some studio work. They proved to outlast a pair ...
Summary: These are amazing headphones; I'm not gonna lie. I picked these up at my local FYE at the mall for some studio work. They proved to outlast a pair of red Panasonic headphones with about as much or probably less quality than these. I just wish that they could've made the headband out of one stationary piece instead of three stationary pieces because there's a gap that's just as thick as my hair which they slide into and get caught in when I take off these headphones. Other than that... My friend liked them so much that he went out and bought a pair for himself, no joke. I suppose they're that good. :3

Decent for under $20 Dollar headphones
by richie1989 on December 3, 2009
Pros: Decent Sound Quality, Thick Cord, Looks nice, Abit tight on the ears, Cheap
Cons: Poorly built Head frame, A bit tight on the ears

Summary: I just got my headphones today and i must say, I'm quite impressed for a $16 Dollar headphones. I owned 7 headphones ranging 5-60 dollar range and these are so far my 2nd favorite! The sound is okay.... But the treble seems weak and lacks clarity IMO. The bass is just right for the price, not too weak nor to strong.
Next is the comfort, I like the feeling of the ear pads except the pressure pressing on my ears are a tad bit too much. My ears tend to get uncomfortable for a while but its manageable.
Okay now thirdly is the durability, The head framing is small and fragile especially the part that holds the speakers to the frame. I'm a little hesitant to pull it apart a couple of inches because it feels like it'll snap. And now the wire coat, The thickness is huge! it's around 3x bigger then iPod earphones so i don't think ill have a problem of straining it.
In conclusion to this review, I would recommend this product to Medium music listeners. Great for Mp3's, PSPs, Movies and be careful that you don't sit on it!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great sound, very uncomfortable.
by kb4cwr on January 18, 2008
Pros: Excellent bass response. Hear every bit of sound in the track.
Cons: They squeeze the hell out of your head!

Summary: I bought my MDR-V150 at a second hand store along with a Sony WM-FX251 Walkman. Both were in perfect condition, and the combo only costs me $5, so the price was certainly right. I was blown away by the sound quality, but these have to be beyond a shadow of a doubt some of the most uncomfortable headphones I've ever used, and I've used a lot of headphones! The problem is compounded by the fact that I wear glasses. But even with my glasses off, they're still extremely uncomfortable. I don't know why Sony would design a headphone with such good sound quality and then make them virtually un-wearable.

There's better headphones for $25.
by onFood on October 13, 2012
Pros: - Build and materials are acceptable, durable enough for daily usage
Cons: - Cups are uncomfortable on the ears
- Bloated bass, and the rest of the sound spectrum sounds muddy and veiled
- Lack of clarity and detailSummary: I've surprised that they sell these for more than $20. Good thing I don't own them, as I was trying out a friend's. I can't tell ...
Summary: I've surprised that they sell these for more than $20. Good thing I don't own them, as I was trying out a friend's. I can't tell if these headphones work well with any particular genre of music, as they always sound so muddy and veiled.
For those who are looking for headphones to be used in the studio, Sony's MDR-V6 is an option. It's durable, analytical, and reasonably priced. It's been about two decades since the first release and the design has changed very little since then. A much more suitable option than the V150s, I would say.
You don't need to spend a ton of money to get better sound, or even comfort and build. There is a significant improvement over the V150s with my $60 headphones. Even for $25 you could do better than these. Just go on the headphone enthusiast forums and ask for advice and recommendations. You won't regret it.
