Convenient but not crystal clear audio

Cons: occasional static distortion, can cause wireless internet problems

Summary: I had the Pioneer SEDIR800C wireless headphones but I broke them accidentally so I decided to give the Sony MDR-DS6000 a try. There were not many reviews on it including on CNET so I had to try them out myself.
These SONY's use 2.4 GHZ radio frequency rather than the infrared on the Pioneers so they have a greater range (up to 90 ft) and you do not have to stay in line of sight like infrared. That was a plus for convenience like if you had to go to the bathroom but still wanted to hear what's going on.
Also, a plus was the docking station which recharges the batteries which also provides a place for your headphones when not in use. The phones are also comfortable to wear, even more comfortable than the Pioneers. For the Pioneers, you have to also remove the batteries from the headset itself and place in the decoder box to recharge.
For the negatives, the major issue is that the sound quality is just not as good as the Pioneers. There's occasional static and more static when using with the XBOX 360. The surround is actually quite good and did seem to have more overall effect then the Pioneers (I tested them by watching WAR OF THE WORLDS). The bass is not rich enough and the Pioneers were better in that aspect.
Also, after using the headphones for a couple of hours, the audio seemed to hurt my ears. This was not b/c of volume nor tightness of the set but just from a listening perspective. It was strange but I switched to regular Sennheiser wired phones and the pain was gone. It's like the audio frequency or sound tonality changes in the headphones.
One more downside is that if you place the docking station or the headphones too close to a wireless router or card, it will cause a disconnection in your network b/c it uses radio frequency.
So after trying these out, I decided to return them and purchase again the Pioneer SEDIR800C. If you're choosing btwn the two or from any wireless headphones for that matter, I recommend the Pioneers.10 out of 10 users found this user opinion helpful.

Truly high-quality wireless headphones

Summary: After buying, trying and quickly returning several analog FM, 900 MHz, wireless headphones from name brands like JVC, I bought the Sony MDR-DS6000 (not MRD as shown on CNet) and was first impressed by the quality packaging and then by the superior sound quality after connecting the base to the optical digital audio output from the DirecTV HR10 receiver. I walked around my large apartment and didn't notice any drop-outs until I got close to my WiFi access point, which also operates on 2.4GHz. As soon as I moved several feet away from it, the drop-outs stopped. While watching TV with the headphones on and using my WiFi laptop, there were no drop-outs. Although the headphones and base are constructed with plastic parts, the quality seems quite good and not cheap. The volume level initially was very low, until I adjusted the control on the right headphone. The volume can be turned up enough to become uncomfortably loud. In general, I am totally satisfied and pleased to have finally acquired wireless headphones that work well, sound good and are comfortable to wear.

Summary: Nice set and found a significant discount on Internet. I first used the optical, digital cable. I would occasionally loose the audio when connected to my SA 3250HD cable box. I switch to analog cables and it never drops audio. Not sure what the problem is with the digital audio; however, since I can't tell the difference in sound, I stuck with the analog audio. I haven't hooked it to another source yet. At first, the blue light that comes on when the speakers are active can be annoying; however, it doesn't seen to bother me anymore. I use the headset to listen to TV in the bedroom after the wife goes to sleep. The sound is great. I can have the audio blasting and she can't hear anything with her head next to me, although she says I look like a some form of bug with the headset on...

Pros: stylish stand / charger, crystal-clear sound, excellent range, very comfortable
Cons: none I can think of; I love them!

Summary: I was shopping looking for headphones to use with my XBox 360 and PS3 at night when the better half was sleeping. Got these and found they were even better than advertised. I can crank the sound up with no distortion & hear things I didn't even know were on the game soundtracks. I also love the headband feature that is not only very comfortable but also turns them off to save battery life (if you need to pause to do something & take them off) Highly recommended!
