Summary: The SL300 is an extremely good pair of headphones. I found that sonic clarity is not compromised unlike in the review. (I'm not sure if it's just me but personally I feel that sonic clarity is great after listening to songs with various electronic instruments such as those by Owl City)
Noise-cancellation mainly targets low pitched noises, such as car engines, train or jet engines. Perfect in my opinion as I don't see the need to disable it when someone is talking to me, although their voices will sound a little bit weird.
THe SL300 being light with ample padding on all contact points make it very comfortable to wear over long periods of time, however, the leather earcups make your ears hot and may uncomfortable to some.
Sound leakage is also an issue. Don't expect to use them in quiet places like libraries as they do leak quite a lot of sound.
Passive mode was a huge letdown. There was a significant drop in sound quality when noise cancellation was turned off(or without batteries). The overall volume of the music would definitely drop. Mids were acceptable, but the highs and lows just didn't get the emphasis they deserved. Expect reduced bass and treble. You could squeeze a little bit more out of them by engaging a "U-shaped" EQ which increases bass and treble.
Moving on to the cosmetics.
I have the Black and White version of the SL300, and I must say, there are fingerprint magnets. Never leave home without a cleaning cloth.
They do however, make up by having sexy lights(which can be turned off to save battery life) to add more style.
Now to discuss the supplied accessories.
The carrying case is sturdy and comes with a nice and handy clip(it looks like the ones people use for rock climbing but I'm not sure what it's called. NO, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS FOR ROCK CLIMBING) It's also pretty sturdy. The inside has a net on one side with a Velcro to you to fasten your cables or spare batteries. Extremely useful.
No need to worry about neatly tying up the cables. They are tangle free! Simply chuck them in the net. They won't get tangled. :)
Overall, these are still pretty decent headphones for their price: Great sound, Great Accessories, Extremely fashionable headphones that move your SOUL~
