Don't Get These.

Summary: Got these headphones after my old Ultimate Ears 550s (the ones with the red to tell right and left apart) fizzled out on me. Used 3 years worth of UE products before that (2 years with the 550s, one with the 450s or something. They looked similar, that's all I know.) The 500s were available at Best Buy for $79.99 . Man, am I glad I got the insurance policy taken out on these things through Geek Squad. First day I used em, went to Upstate NY for college orientation, and the bass driver in the right headphone blew out. Look up a subwoofer blowing out/up on Youtube, and it sounded just like that, except on a smaller scale. Nothing came out of the right earpiece after that. The left lost some bass, and the balance never regained itself. Went back to Best Buy after i got home, replaced the pair for free. This time, the driver in the right earpiece didn't blow, but it started to vibrate, so every time anything on a bass frequency played, the driver vibrated. Sounded like a huge fly in my ear the whole time. Got fed up with it and bought a pair of $20 Skullcandy Ink'd headphones, and they blow the UE's out of the water. Best headphones I've ever had.
Bottom line? Save yourself the $75 and DON'T buy these. UE usually put great headphones out. They absolutely missed the mark with the UE500's.
