V-moda Vibe (red roxx) price range: $49.88

The good: The stylish V-moda Vibe headphones amplify the audio from the sound source, and they come with several fun or useful accessories. Overall sound quality is very good.
The bad: The V-moda Vibe headphones are a bit overpowering on the low-end; may be uncomfortable for some users.
The bottom line: The V-moda Vibe headphones are a great option for style-conscious bass-addicts looking for some worthy portable headphones.
Headphone maker V-moda may be a newcomer in the digital audio domain, but you wouldn't realize it listening to the company's products. Both the Remix M-Class and Bass Freq earphones garnered positive critiques from the tech press, including CNET. V-moda is continuing its brand proliferation with the premium Vibe in-ear headphones ($101), another fashion-forward set that offers rich, if a bit bass-heavy, audio response.
The V-moda Vibe earphones offer the most understated design of all of the company's headphones: each pair offers a simple, black cable (approximately 48 inches long) with metallic accenting designated by the model. You can choose from gunmetal black, flashback chrome, or la mocha (not yet available at press time). The earpieces are small and stylish with an almost jewelry-like appearance, thanks to the shiny finish. The cable is quite thin, but seems durable, and V-moda includes a Modawrap in the package to help prevent tangles. You also get several sets of silicon fittings in three sizes, which should let most users create an effective seal with the ear. Comfort also should not be an issue for those with average-sized ears, but this small-eared reviewer found that the eartips put pressure on the inner ear cartilage causing some soreness after about an hour of use. The squishy foam fittings that come with Shure's E4cs are much more comfortable.
Although V-moda doesn't advertise the Vibe earphones as sound-isolating, the earbuds do a great job of keeping out ambient noise. They also include a small leather pouch, making them ideal for travel. V-moda throws in a card that gives you free membership to the company's VIP service. Benefits include event invites, product previews, and free podcasts of music mixed by selected DJs.

GARBAGE! Defective design will fail in weeks, GUARANTEED!
by init4larfs on July 27, 2008
Pros: Decent sound, remarkable bass, aesthetics
Cons: Company-acknowledged defect, drivers fail like clockwork. NO REFUNDS!

Summary: I went through three pairs of this product in a matter of months, with a failed right driver in each pair. Salesman who exchanged them was on his third pair as well. Got so disgusted, I asked for my money back. While the company refused to provide anything but an equally-inferior replacement, they did acknowledge the design problem and basically said, "Tough $#!+, sucker." I wouldn't recommend V-moda products to ANYONE. Stick with comparably-priced models from Shure, U.E., AKG, Klipsch or Bose. This stuff is absolute TRASH!

Great Sound, Poor Cable

Pros: Phenomenal Sound, Great Comfort
Cons: Wore through two cables in less than a year.

First, these earbuds sound great! The highs are a little harsh when new, so be sure to burn them in to condition the drivers.
They have different size cushions to fit any ear size. I have small ear canals, but I can wear these for hours without significant fatigue.
Great value at ~$80.
Cons:
The connector and cable haven't held up well for me. Granted, my first pair fell victim to being snagged on a bench and snapped the cord at the plug. Partially fixed by attaching a new plug, but the balance is not equal now...very distracting.
The cord of the second pair wore through at the plug and the wires are now exposed...this happened within 4 or 5 months.
Also, the plug is a little on the small side and can be difficult to remove from the jack without also pulling on the cord.

A bargain for 60 bucks!!!

Summary: I have the gunmetal gray, and I have to tell you, since these headphones have come down under $70, they are hard to beat for sound quality. I have a Ipod, and I use the on board equalizer which some say is useless, but if you play with it you will find some of the settings can really offset a set of headphones characteristics. These head phones have one of the lowest ratings going down to 12db, and up to 22.000! I have switched to "voice" setting on my IPOD's equalizer, which brings up the upper mid and lowers the bass a bit. This setting has yielded a very balanced and very pleasing sound. I listen to tons of progressive jazz and The Rippington's early smooth hit 'One Summer Night In Brazil' was reproduced with lots of richness and weight. Several cuts from Paul Hardcastle's Jazz Master Series. which are known for heavy bass lines, sounded as good as I have ever heard on a pair of headphones! The first time i listened to the V-Moda's I was in an outdoor mall that had music playing from the ground. I was amazed at how much outdoor sound was isolated from my ears. All I could hear was music!
One of the things that has always irritated me with in ear headphones is managing wax buildup. I love the open design of these headphones! Take them off..give a quick finger wipe, and that's it! No tiny holes to clean out with some special tool! I have spent as much as a Buck 50 on headphones. None sounded any better than these. If you can get a year out of them before the wires go bad or something else..... you can't complain! Just go buy another pair. -
i went through 2 pairs and not no more
by macfoshiz on March 4, 2009
Pros: great bass, great overall sound, different size ear buds and the wires don't get tangled as much.
Cons: everything was great until it failed. my first pair just didnt work after a few month. my second pair, they left side got softer than the right. just couldnt use it anymore
Summary: it looks great and sounds great. it looks like its well made but it is not. i went through 2 pairs and both failed. not getting them again ever.

Headphones were great until they broke

Summary: Spend your money elsewhere! I thought i might have just gotten a defective pair of headphones until I read reviews from other people who had the same problem. After about 8 months the left headphone slowly stopped working. The sound got softer and softer in the left headphone until I was forced to stop using them.

OK sound till they fail
by huskerinwa on January 15, 2009
Pros: good sound
Cons: poor design, cord breaks, headphone keeps cutting out after 5 months.
Summary: Replaced already & out again. Think I'll go a different direction.

Sound great while they are working....AVOID AT ALL COST
by crewkip on October 30, 2008
Pros: Great sound. Great looks. I like the fabric feel of the cord over the rubber covered wires of other headphones. Seemed to prevent things from getting tangled.
Cons: These headphones have an inherent defect. The left driver stopped working after 3 weeks. They are TERRIBLE for working out, they just don't stay in your ears well enough. Ear wax clogs the mesh covering the driver way way too easily.
Summary: Do not buy these! For $100 you should be getting something amazing. These are not amazing. The sound is good, but the defects simply outweigh any of the positives of ...
Summary: Do not buy these! For $100 you should be getting something amazing. These are not amazing. The sound is good, but the defects simply outweigh any of the positives of these headphones. I had a pair of the V-moda bass headphones (the $25 pair) and they died in a similar fashion. V-moda does not take pride in producing a product built to last. Their warranty service is non-existent. I will NEVER buy another V-moda product.

Summary: I bought a pair of these 8 months ago and have been very happy with them they looked great, sounded great and seemed fantastic for the money. I recomended them to a firend who bought his own pair 3 months ago both of us have really taken care of them as for me these are quiet and expensive item. Now the drive has failed on one of my friends and mine have loose connection in them that make them stutor and echo. Not impressed V-Moda

Great Sound and looks
by bernie-bernie on September 5, 2008
Pros: -Aesthetically beautifull product
-Great Sound
-Good Warranty (wich assures me that even if the rumours about the breakability of these headphones are true i'll still be able to replace them)Cons: I have read a LOT of reviews and rumours that theese headphones are esasy to break and stop working in a short time.
Summary: I really like how theese headphones look, my main concern is audio though. I just opened the box and really liked what i saw, the headphones are really shiny and ...
Summary: I really like how theese headphones look, my main concern is audio though. I just opened the box and really liked what i saw, the headphones are really shiny and look metalic, the look like a very fine, top notch product... although the are way smaller than I expected!
WARNING: Quality headhones need 8 to 10 hours of use to get to their best sound. In my case, i've been using them for about 20 minutes but the sound is already great to say the least. It IS TRUE: these headphones are bass heavy, but the bass doesn't feel heavy, neither it doesnt seem to overpower the rest of sounds. I really like theese headphones so far, i will keep using them for about a week and see how they behave and post a review again.
So... to end this post:
This are great headphones so far (30 minutes)
They look GREAT, like an article of jewelry
Great buy for an experienced listener but if you are new into buying expensive heaphones with a higher sound quality i would reccomend something a little bit cheaper, like the V-MODA bass freq headphones. -
