The good: The Beats Solo by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster offer a stylish, compact, and durable design that lends itself well to on-the-go use. The cable is ultranice and features an integrated mic, iPod controls, and volume rocker. Bass is thumping, and the package includes a handy carrying case.
The bad: The Beats Solo headphones may not be comfortable for everyone, audio is muddy overall, and they leak a fair amount of sound.
The bottom line: The Beats Solo by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster offer a killer, travel-friendly design that's sure to turn heads, but the audio quality fails to live up to the price tag.

Pros: Great looking. Great Bass. Overall good sound.
Cons: Needs better highs and possibly a little better mid but hard to tell.

One of the BEST headphones ever!
by pgorecki94 on September 11, 2010

-The bass is awesome! (If thats what you're looking for)
-Sound is pretty goodCons: -I do have to admit that after a while (about 1-2 hrs) it starts getting uncomfortable

Summary: This is the first time I have went into the nice but quite expensive headphone market. Truth is, these headphones are one of the best. If you are looking for design, people will comment on them and they when you put them on your ears its amazing. The price tag is high compared to the usual 20-30 bucks i usually spend but its totally worth it. You will not be dissappointed. These headphones were made for for the great bass found in songs, and when they' re called Beats by Dr Dre well, you should know that Dre is a hip hop artist, you would expect headphones that emphasize on bass and clear quality. Overall, the money spent on these headphones are totally worth it.

Have great hearing? Steer clear.
by snarkrabbit on July 1, 2010
Pros: Beautiful design, quality feel, decent noise cancelling. Output well-balanced between left & right speakers (little innate volume difference).
Cons: Loud, on the heavy side, the base is a bit strong, some tracks end up sounding a bit sharp.
Summary: The makers weren't kidding when they said that these headphones allowed for listening at lower volumes. This may or may not have something to do with the fact that ...
Summary: The makers weren't kidding when they said that these headphones allowed for listening at lower volumes. This may or may not have something to do with the fact that the lowest volume is still ridiculously loud. I'm no expert when it comes to audio devices, so I can't compare one model to the next, but, the Beats Solo's lowest output is equal to 1/5th the maximum output of my old headphones.
As for the sound-cancelling, it's decent. You can still hear traffic & carry on a conversation, but won't have to deal with more basic ambient noises (i.e., typing--it's clearly audible, but not to the point at which it's going to interfere with your listening).
In short, these are beautiful headphones. They're just not for those with sensitive hearing. The volume-thing is a real issue. Nothing's annoying quite like thinking the music's too loud, only to find it's already playing at minimum volume.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Not a bad choice. Break easily but immense add to music
by jcarll210 on June 18, 2010
Pros: Crisp sound, nice look, easy to carry and transport.

Summary: I love the look and sound of the product. After owning them for 3 months I never want to go back to a normal pair of headphones. I listen to mostly rap and the bass these headphones provide is simply amazing. They were mostly noise canceling and I could easily mow my lawn without being distracted by the sound of the mower. I hated how easily these broke. I broke three pairs in the matter of a couple of months due to regular use and decided to upgrade to the monster beats. I think the design is something that needs to be looked at because for 200 dollars you want something with reliability. Also, depending on how i put the headphones on, they hurt my ears at times. It was not a good feeling when after 30min of listening i took them off and my ears would start throbbing.

Far better than Bose in EVERY WAY!!!!!
by dtsguy on February 24, 2010
Pros: Sound is spectacular! Built quality is excellent. Ive had them for a few months now and I have taken them on many airplane flights going in and out of my back pack. I have been very rough to them and they are still intact and work like new!
Cons: The only thing I would add would be a microphone for when Im talking to people face to face so I dont have to take them off.
Summary: I recommend the Beats Solo to anyone who wants a quality built and excellent sounding Headphone.
