Bose Bluetooth Headset price range: $124.98
- Reviewed by: Nicole Lee
- Reviewed on: 12/08/2010
The good: The Bose Bluetooth Headset has a stylish design, a very comfortable fit, and multipoint connectivity.
The bad: The Bose Bluetooth Headset does not have A2DP streaming, and it only fits in the right ear. Call quality was average, which is disappointing considering the headset's high price.
The bottom line: The Bose Bluetooth Headset might be a stylish headset with a recognizable brand, but its lack of features and average performance do not fit its high price tag.

Best bluetooth earpiece I have tried
by perry6465 on March 28, 2011
Pros: Great sound, great fit, comfortable, easy to use.
Cons: Nothing, including price - you get what you pay for.

Summary: Like many reviewing this product I have tried many bluetooth earpieces and have been disappointed. I think bluetooth earpiece reviewers fall into one of three catagories: 1) "Pros" that are counting features and specs and not really spending enough time using the product, i.e. CNET 2) Young people wanting to listen to music and want all the bells and whistles 3) Professional people that just want a comfortable device that makes clear phone calls. If you fall in category three like me, than get this earpiece. I don't care about A2DP, text to speech, Bing 411, dual microphone technology. I don't care how they do it just make the thing so I can hear my caller and they can hear me. And make it so I can stand to have it in my ear for a long time. Bose accomplished both of these things.

Great for making calls
by swtrainer on January 29, 2011
Pros: Clear sound from earpiece
Extremely comfortable
Good sound on the other endCons: None unless you bought a bluetooth headset for something other than making calls or unless you can't use a bluetooth headset in your right ear.

Summary: I have gone through a ton of bluetooth headsets looking for the perfect one. Now, I think I've found it. I feel it's a better bluetooth headset than the Jawbone Icon or Plantronic Pro headsets that I've been using recently.
It doesn't have some features that some users might want: It doesn't do A2DP; It doesn't talk to you; It doesn't read your email or text messages to you; and, It doesn't play your music for you. But I want a bluetooth headset to make phone calls...to be heard by the person I called and to hear the person I called. This headset does that. Plus, if I want to hear my music, I don't want to hear it in only one ear in mono - I want to hear it in both ears and in stereo.
This headset doesn't filter out every single sound around you, but neither does the office phone that I use. Other headsets, the Plantronics Pro and the Jawbone Icon filter out noise around you better, but people I talk to complain about how mechanical my voice sounds to them and still end up asking me to repeat what I'm saying. This headset gives me "real" sound - both incoming and outgoing.
Comfort: No other BT headset compares. The eargels that come with the headset provide the most comfortable fit that I have ever encountered out of the box. All day use is more possible with these eargels than any other I have ever put on. I have paid $75 for a custom built eargel from Avery Sound and it really helped with previous headsets and that was pretty comfortable, but these are honestly better!
I like the fact that this headset has real buttons - a button for accepting a call and hanging up, a volume up button and a volume down button...and a real power switch. This headset is simple and user friendly.
I like the black matte finish on the front - no problem with fingerprints. I like the balance - no problem with it wanting to tilt down. I like the adaptive sound - it gets louder when I'm in a noisy environment. I can hear the people I am talking to and people don't complain about the sound on their end. THAT'S HUGE!
I have been looking for a long time...multiple Plantroincs models, multiple Aliph/Jawbone models, multiple Samsung models, multiple BlueAnt models, multiple Motorola models, multiple Jabra models...I'm not looking any longer - this is it!
If you want bells and whistles (and echo)...look elsewhere. But if you want to use a BT headset to make phone calls...look no further.
Thank you, Bose!4 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Absolutely love the sound quality and its noise filter
by AO1608 on February 22, 2012
Pros: Great comfort to wear all day and secure
Good sound quality
Great noise filtration and allows user to hear the other party and other party to hear the user clearCons: No caller ID announcement
Lack of battery meter on iPhone or battery level announcementSummary: I've go through 1 to 2 headset in a year. I've gone through many of them ranging from the earlier Motorola version, to the latest Plantronics, and the ...
Summary: I've go through 1 to 2 headset in a year. I've gone through many of them ranging from the earlier Motorola version, to the latest Plantronics, and the Jawbone Icon and Icon HD. However, all of them would either be uncomfortable to wear for long period of time, or don't feel secure if it is loosely fitted for comfort. In addition, all of them would either have drop connection due to some interference or unable to connect in time for the call. Very frustrating! However, Bose Bluetooth headset seems to address all of these issues and provide a good call quality and descent batter life. Although, Bose doesn't have neat features like caller ID announcement or batter meter/announcement like Jawbone. But if you are a serious bluetooth user on the road then Bose is the answer as it provides a good call quality with reliable connection each time. It is also comfortable to wear all day.

Great Sound poor battery life

Summary: I purchased the headset in January because it sounds better then the jawbone and the Plantronics. I went for sound quality over features as sound quality was more important to me. Besides, I am the one who has to listen to it all day. After owing it for a while I find that the battery life sucks when compared to other headsets I have owned. The noise cancelling is also not what I expect from Bose. They make some of the best noise cancelling headphones on the market so I thought they would have really high quality noise cancelling technology. As it turns out, it is just average or below average in the noise cancelling department. In the end, if you want a headset that sounds great in your ear but you don't talk on the phone very much then this might be a good fit. If you are looking for something with lots of features or the ability to stream music, then this is not the headset for you.

What NO Music
by CS1267 on April 26, 2011
Pros: Ear piece is a a great fit. Use BT all day long. Have had 3 styles. All have been very uncomfortable at the end of the day. NOT this one. very comfortable. sound is good even in loud areas.
Cons: How can the company that makes some of the greatest equipment for caputruing music miss the boat by not making it a part of the their blue tooth? especially for the price. A main reason I bought is the store said it did and had great sound.
Summary: I will be looking for another. It was important for me to also have a music option. I assumed a high price point BT would have music as well. Most ...

Bad Reviews?

Pros: Really Clear, all buttons are easily accessible while using the unit.

Summary: I have used the Jawbone, Blue Ant, etc. This is the first headset that I have used which could actually hear my voice commands. The clarity on both ends blows the competition away as well as the comfort and ease of use bar none. It may not have many of the bells and whistles as the other brands but after all I needed a bluetooth headset not bells and whistles.

Expensive and not worthy of the name.
by JDLSr on March 17, 2011
Pros: Sharp looking design, excellent fitting ear pieces, easily connected to IPhone 4, and easily heard by others.
Cons: Reception was poor; constant humming was annoying and everyone sounded as if they were speaking with a deap voice.
Very short battery life.Summary: Good product but have experienced other less expensive products that have functioned much better.

Not bad, but definitely NOT worth the $149 price tag.
by uniquesdw on March 4, 2011
Pros: The design is very modern. The earpiece is comfortable for extended use. Unit is very lightweight.
Cons: Low volume for ringer. Sometimes hard to tell there is an incoming call. The earpiece is difficult to get seated and feels like it is going to fall out....which it has several times. Once in correctly it is comfortable. Battery goes quickly.
Summary: Sound quality is good and people on the other end tell me it is crisp and clear. The comfort is great, once you finally get it seated in your ear. ...
Summary: Sound quality is good and people on the other end tell me it is crisp and clear. The comfort is great, once you finally get it seated in your ear. There are three different sizes of earpieces, but none seemed to fit me perfectly. I stuck with the medium. If not seated correctly the unit will fall out easily. Controls are easy to use. All in all, it's a great unit, but really not fitting of the Bose name. I think it's overpriced at $149, but if it were under $100 it would be easier to take the shortfalls. I'm hoping Bose will make improvements and the next generation will be worthy of the Bose name.

Unbelievable Comfort. You will forget it's in your ear.
by LeeDowney on March 3, 2011
Pros: Hands down the best bluetooth device out there. Sounds quality clear and crisp. Automaticlly adjusts to surrounding noises. A level of comfort that is hard to describe. No comparison to the Jawbone Era. Easy to use volume and power buttons.
Cons: Most will say the price but remember people, you get what you pay for. This device is well worth the $150 price tag. I'm buying one for my wife tomorrow. Sorry, this wasn't much of a con for me.

Summary: Here's the story. I bought this Bose bluetooth last weekend at Best Buy. I really liked the Bose but the comments from the Best Buy clerk bugged me all week. She praised and praised the Jawbone Era. Yesterday I exchanged the Bose for the Era. I have used this device for little more than a day and I do not agree with the clerk. I've tried all 5 different ear fittings. Nothing even come CLOSE to the comfort of the Bose. I actually laid down in the bed Monday evening and it wasn't until I rolled over before I realized I had left the Bose in my ear. It's that comfortable. I don't really agree with CNET's average review on the device. I think it's the best bluetooth I've put in my ear period. Sorry Jawbone, but I'm returning you to Best Buy tomorrow and re-purchasing the Bose. It's well worth the $20 extra bucks.
