The good: Improved sound; earphones fit securely and comfortably; protective carrying case included; "open" design has its appeal; pleasantly full bass; in-line microphone for cellphone use.
The bad: Fit may not appeal to everyone, especially those who prefer noise-isolating earphones; treble is a little on the harsh side.
The bottom line: The Bose MIE2/MIE2i headsets offer a good combination of comfort and solid sonics for the money.

These headphones are incredible!

Summary: These headphones are incredible. I had to get this pair because I was listening to music so frequently that my ears actually started to bleed a little from the ear buds my cheap headphones rubbing me raw. The MIE2 headset is so comfortable I can listen for hours. The difference in sound quality from other headphones to these can be likened to the difference of watching a DVD on a normal TV and watching a Blue-ray on an HD TV. As I listened to my favorite song that I had listened to for years, I began to hear things I had never heard before! The bass especially is awesome. The microphone is crystal clear.
The only negative point I could mention is that the supple material used for casing the wires is not too durable. They started falling apart after 1 year (bear in mind I was a heavy user.) By 18 months it was in pieces, so definitely go with the protection plan.
NOTE 1: After 18 months of use the microphone and the right ear bud had completely ceased functioning and the wire casing had all but disintegrated. Despite the derelict shape of my headset, every time I purchased I new pair from the other brand the sound quality was terrible that I continued to use the bose headset despite the fact that the last thing working was a single ear bud
NOTE: I bought these 2 years ago at $129.99. Today's price: $129.99. The fact that the price has yet to fall tells you something about the high quality nature of the headset. -

I usually use this product during my runs and weight training and it can be humid in the gym.
I'm assuming that caused the product to start acting up, but not exactly sure.
I am currently living in Australia and according to the Perth bose store I have to send the headset to the Eastern states to have it fix. However, when I was in the USA, the last time I had trouble with my old headphones I just simply brought it to the local bose store and since it was still under warranty they just gave me a new one just like that without questions.
Not sure how Australia "Bose Company" work but I prefer to have the local stores having the capabilities to sort thing out instead of having the items shipped to the eastern states of Australia.
***I suggest not BUYING this product and getting something else*** -
Bose MIE2 does not work for me
by nheath2010 on April 20, 2011
Pros: Great sound quality. I have had problems with buds staying in ear, no problem with these.
Cons: Callers tell me I sound great then I go static and garbled where they cannot understand me. This is a huge problem for me, as I am on the phone all day.
Summary: For listening to music it is good, but would stay with their noise-canceling versions. Would not recommend due inconsistent outgoing calls.

Short on sound - Long on function
by hugdeath on January 25, 2011
Pros: Remote works with MyTouch 4G. Fit is comfortable. Angled Plug
Cons: Cord is too short. Tip doesn't get close enough to ear for really good sound. Cost doesn't equal value of item.
Summary: "LOVE the fact that I finally found a pair with a remote that works with Android phones". The remote controls the MyTouch 4G just fine. The sound however is another ...
Summary: "LOVE the fact that I finally found a pair with a remote that works with Android phones". The remote controls the MyTouch 4G just fine. The sound however is another story. Since the tips don't seal either by insertion or covering the ear there is way too much outside noise interfering with the sound.
Phone call volume is plenty loud but with significant echo. Music volume is adequate but the sound is not even worth $30 in my opinion. There is also a lot of static electricity conducted for some reason. From the moment I left the store and put these on in the car I shocked myself twice before I even got out of the parking lot. I also would like the cord 2b longer. If I wanted to wear my phone on my hip this cord would consistently yank the tips from my ear. I think another 5" would be fine.
The Stay Here tips are very comfortable and fit immediately. I wish there was an opportunity to design a pair. At this price point I feel as if I had designed them. As it stands my favorite in ear buds are my Sennheiser CX-300's and my favorite cans are my Sony MDR-V6's. How about the sound (of either of these) combined with the fit of the CX-300's and the mic control of the MIE2's? I wish... -
Great comfort, so-so sound.
by RobS377 on January 10, 2011
Pros: The comfort and stability of these headphones is unmatched by any earbud I've tried, including a few with earhooks. . The little shark fin thing is very effective, and they stay in my ear throughout my workouts.
Cons: Sound quality is good. Not great, just good. For the price (keeping in mind I bought my Klipsch S4s for less), I would expect it to be better.
Summary: The Bose Mie2 earbuds have replaced my Klipsch S4s as my go-to gym headphones, but not without reservation.

The Bose have amazing fit and comfort. They stay firmly in place even while jogging or doing power-cleans. The latter being tests my S4s would frequently fail. This is easily the Bose strongest point.
The Mie2s have a thick, sturdy looking black and white cord, and the buds themselves have a substantial feel to them. Bose had the foresight to include a shirt clip to keep the cord out of harm's way, which is a welcome and useful addition.
The earbuds have a somewhat lower profile than the S4s, in that they don't stick out of my ear nearly as far. The on ear design (as opposing to in-ear canal phone) is a double edged sword. The buds sit just outside the earhole and that is one of the reasons I find them so comfortable. At the same time, the lack of a seal cause these cans to allow a fair amount of ambient noise to filter in, muddying up the sound.
The sound quality is decent. It is noticeably less precise than my S4s. Bass is strong, but midrange seems a bit muddy and the highs aren't as bright as they could/should be. Separation could be better as well.
That's not to say they sound bad, they certainly don't. The Mie2's are a significant improvement over virtually any OEM earbud I've listened to, and indeed over many aftermarket buds. However, they're not on the same sound quality level as the S4s, which few earbuds are.
The bottom line, for me at least, was sound quality (S4) vs. comfort and stability (Mie2). I don't consider myself an audiophile, and frankly when I'm at the gym I'm not concentrating on the music in the way an audiophile would. I still want it to sound good, sure, but I'm not critically listening. It is those situations for which the Bose are significantly better suited. -
Amazing comfort and adaptable sound!

Incredible comfort, good sound
by dougc405 on December 3, 2010
Pros: Mic and button compatible with Samsung Galaxy S.
Non-noise isolating (I use headphones at work and while exercising).
Don't fall out when exercising.
Decent sound.
Seem pretty durable.Cons: None so far.

I use these with my Samsung Vibrant. The mic and button work perfectly with this phone. The button lets me pause the music and answer voice calls.
I use PowerAmp for my music player. PowerAmp has an equalizer, so I can adjust the sound to my liking, but I haven't noticed any harshness to the treble that other reviewers have reported. I'm not an audio reviewer, so I can't spit out the appropriate catch-phrases, but these sound really nice to me. Not in the same league as a good pair of over-the-ear headphones, but much more practical.
I use these when exercising and working around the yard and have never had them fall out, even when the cord gets snagged on something. The rubber pieces that came installed are so comfortable that I haven't bothered to try out the other ones that came in the package.
I can't comment on relative value, since I couldn't find much that was directly comparable. For me, it was money well-spent.
