A decent pair of over/on ear headphones
by PiperSean on January 22, 2012
Pros: Great sound quality
Bass is amazing, not over powering (I prefer more bass, especially as less bass usually mean treble that is more shrill.)
Good looks and build quality
Price is greatCons: A bit large on smallest size (I have a small head, but they could have made the headphones smaller on the smallest size)
Ear cups are a weird size
Cord on both side of headphone
Cord ends weak maybe, like the Image S4
Not folding

Summary: These are great set of headphones. I am used to in ears, but I decided to get these as in ears start to get to me a while after wearing them a lot. Like any headphone pair I have, they aren't loud enough on my iPod, and I like music loud to bring out the music. As they are bass oriented, they will likely sound quieter in the treble anyway. I guess I'll need a headphone amp to help the volume, as the iPod just can't put out enough for this 32 ohm headphones. The sound is excellent and I do not find the bass overpowering really; the bass is strong and present, but it doesn't have an annoying over the top punch like the over rated and overpriced Beats line. The sound is very warm and the sound is comfortable on any music type and volume level. I find an amp may bring up the clarity and warmth, but they sound good already, without. No distortion is present (this is using an app on the iPod, as the ios5's current music app causes distortion, and don't say it doesn't as even the "awesome" Beat's distorted. I use PanAmp and it doesn't distort, proving ios5 is not the issue, but the music app of ios5). On any in ear I've used, including the great B&W C5's, distortion did occur, but not a lot, on songs such as La Grange. But with these, the bass just sounds like its natural, while my in ear headphones sound like the bass is designed to be there, but the drivers are too small to deliver true bass. These headphones look great too with the nice black and leather finish and the leather? headband pad and ear pads are thick and soft. I can't say this for brands like Sennheiser, where the pads seem paper thin and easy to rip.
While excellent sounding, there are some issues:
The headphone size is not small. On the smallest size is a little large for my head. Of course this won't be a complaint for those with larger heads, but they could have made the size smaller. Also, the headphones fit loose, possibly due to them being a bit large, but I like the headphones pushing on my ears more. I notice that if I push on the sides, the sound changes a bit, where the bass comes out more and treble sounds even less shrill, not that it was shrill before. This, to me, mean the seal is not perfect and if they fit tighter it would be. While the quality is overall great, I don't like how two cables enter the headphones, especially as a lot of headphones are one sided, and some are even detachable, which would be nice. Where the cables enter the headphones seem weak, and the cable seems like it will break off if the cable gets hooked on something. This does depend on how well they are soldered too. I found this an issue with the S4's, but they are still working, so the headphones hopefully will last. The B&W C5 as look weak at the headphone jack, and they are lasting, so looks can be deceiving. One last issue is that the headphones do not fold, just pivot to fit in a case, which is too large, but could have been smaller if the headphones were foldable. If I really want to be picky, I could say that the adapter case and the velcro strap don't grab the case well enough, so when I put the headphones away, the strap doesn't really hold the cable tight.
Overall, they are a good buy. The price is great, especailly when comparing to Beats. The sound of these headphones are far better than any of the Beats line or any over/on ears I have tried.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Best headphones out there for the price!!!!
by grayrya on December 28, 2011
Pros: This set has just the right amount of base with out losing the mids and highs. Great for playing games on the ipad and with the volume controls as a bonus. They do a good job keeping sound out but a great job at keeping it from bothering others.
Cons: It takes a little bit to get used to the size of the ear pads. They smaller than the Bose AE2 and Dr. Dres but fit fine. They fit over my ears but I could see that they would be too small from some people. I easily wear them for hours though.
Summary: I tried everything. Bose AE2's sounded to flat but very comfortable. Dr. Dre's were all base and looked like they would break in a second. These things sound ...

Good enough for mobile devices
by cabouche on August 14, 2012
Pros: The mic and volume controls are good for mobile devices.
The sound is fair with an overbass tendency, maybe compensating the sound loss of compressed music..Cons: They doesn't deliver very good with high end equipment. Some bass distortion, modulating on trebble.
Summary: Good for mobile/MP3 devices, not recomended for "better quality" equipment.

What a bargain - very happy with the sound and quality. Portable, comfortable, and put my Senheiser's to shame.

Great Headphones, especially for the price.
by UKStory1355 on June 16, 2011
Pros: They sound great with or without a headphone amp. They are very comfortable. These are ideal for people who don't like earbuds.
Cons: The microphone and controls don't work with a headphone amp.

Excellent closed headphones- perfect for travel
by awdiofil on April 10, 2011
Pros: Great signal to noise ratio. Most of my music is quite fine at 1/2 vol or less on iPhone and iPod. Full range, deep bass when present with the ability to reproduce without muddling it. Great for rock, alt, rap, pop, funk, fusion and some other jazz. C
Cons: This is not a flat curve. I don't recommend for classical and some types of jazz. I have a more open set of Sennheisers for that type of listening. Can get tiring after a few hours on your ears. Depending on where you live, you may get sweaty ears as

Summary: To get a great set of headphones, audition several sets at all price levels with music YOU listen to so that it pleases your ears. Go to someplace that has samples available for you to try. I went to the locally owned audiophile store. Started with the $500 AKG's and worked my way down. And listen to them on what you will use. Avoid the temptation to use their vacuum tube pre-amp--unless you have one at home as well. Headphones are a personal decision by definition, so no review or comments--including this one-- counts for much!

Waaaay too much bottom end
by doctorbloor on February 21, 2011
Pros: Nice detailing in the midrange and upper end; decent soundstage for the closed design and price point.
Cons: Booming, sometimes muddied bass that rivals what many (and what I) dislike about Dre's and most Bose models. Structurally, the ear cups are kind of a tweener-hybrid of full-size and on-ear that some may find uncomfortable.
Summary: I picked these up without a store audition based on the positive CNET reviews and a number of positive reviews elsewhere, but they're not my cup of tea and ...
Summary: I picked these up without a store audition based on the positive CNET reviews and a number of positive reviews elsewhere, but they're not my cup of tea and will be going back. Aside from a headphone jack that impressed as being rather delicate, they appear to be well-built and designed to last, particularly if used at home or if the travel case is used (although they stretch the definition of "portable").
As the title of the review suggests, they have way too much base for my ear. Even with some jiggering on the equalizer, the low end was apt to overwhelm most of the pieces I listened to; this was unfortunate, as it did some things extremely well. Animal Logic's "Spy in the House of Love" embodied the experience best for me: the 'phones did a very nice job of capturing the crisp detail of Stewart Copeland's drumming (esp. hi-hats and cymbals) as well as clarity of Deborah Holland's vocals, but Stanley Clarke's bass turned the song into a Bambi-meets-Godzilla sort of affair.
Can't really recommend them at this price point. -
Awesome sound. Well-rounded. Compfortable to wear.
by madiny on January 31, 2011
Pros: Overall great sound quality.Highs are good, low end great and mids, though slight over powered are still great. Much better than Bose which, for me, was way too bass heavy. Build quality is good as well.
Cons: They do have a lot of bass but I set my Ipod EQ to boost treble and now they are perfect. The problem is I have a 3g IPod(80gig) and hte remote controls don't work. Not a big deal.

Summary: I had a pair of S4's which i loved but could never get a great fit. I had to rig a foam earplug to get a good seal. If not the treble was horribly and painfully tinny. Becaue these fit over the ear its not a problem. I did reverse them so that the right cup is on the left because they twist that way and I get a better seal. Strange design on thier part. I also turned on the treble boost on my Ipod to take a little edge off of the bass. It was a bit muddy on a few songs but not nearly as bad as the Bose were. They aren't quite as good as the B&W but they are half the cost which counts for something. Klipsche is doing a great job with their earphones and this keeps that standard going. I highly recommend.
