The good: The LG HBS-700 headset has an unusual but very comfortable behind-the-neck design. It also has good audio quality, especially for music.
The bad: The LG HBS-700 can't support multiconnection and music streaming at the same time, and call quality suffered in noisier environments.
The bottom line: The LG HBS-700 is one of the most comfortable stereo Bluetooth headsets we've ever tried, plus it offers good audio quality at an affordable price.

Great Gift - Multi-Purpose!

Pros: + Very versatile device - many uses.
+ Very fast charging time.
+ Easy phone use - great intuitive controls.
+ Music sound is excellent.

Summary: My friends at LG hooked me up with an LG Tone to try out and review during the various activities I engage in. In short, the LG Tone exceeded my expectations and is a GREAT gift idea.
Here's my (unedited, uncensored) review:
I used the LG Tone for phone calls, music around town, on a fairly aggressive 90 minute bike ride, and while listening to music on my laptop while writing this review. I was originally puzzled by the necklace design but when I realized how light it is, I thought it might work well. I was right about that. When wearing the LG Tone, I could not feel it, even when I thought about it, and the earbuds rock.
The phone quality is very good and I wasn't thinking about whether the microphone was close enough for me to be heard. I also like how easy the controls are. This device can perform most of my phone functions - I found myself instantly curious what else it could do after quickly learning the basic functions.
The music quality is even better than the phone quality. I was using a music streaming service over a 3G connection on my Droid X and it was flawless. I walked around several stores listening to music and I was able to have conversations with people without issue (I had the volume at the right level to do this). Controls are very easy and convenient and because the controls are raised, it's easy to tell what you're controlling by touch (i.e., you don't need to see the LG Tone to control it).
I paired the LG Tone with my Lenovo T400 laptop and found it easy to setup and use. I listened to a music streaming service while writing this review and generally browsing the Net. The sound is good and it's extremely convenient to have a totally wireless headset. Since there's also a microphone in the device, it's more than just headphones, meaning it's a great headset for things like Skype.
I generally have trouble with earbuds falling out of my ears. I'm not sure if it's because there's zero pulling because of the necklace design, but the earbuds didn't fall out once during any of my activities (not even my bike ride). I generally never ride my bike with headphones because I'm afraid of not hearing sound around me. With the LG Tone, I heard both the music and ambient sound (such as leaves crushing under the wheels). I think the buds also reduced the wind noise, making surrounding sounds easier to hear (of course, I kept the music volume low enough to hear other sound). I was very impressed with its use on my bike.
One thing I found (which makes me laugh) is that I kept waiting for the cord to pull the earbuds out of my ear because I've been annoyed by that for such a long time. I've wanted Bluetooth headphones for a long time and I'm so glad I finally have something I can use while exercising. The rest (e.g., hands-free phone, cool headphones for my computer) is icing for me.
In sum, the LG Tone rocks. It's a great gift because it's so versatile; great for phone and music whether using a phone, MP3 player, or computer. If I didn't have one already, it would be the only thing on my gift list for the holidays (no, that part wasn't edited either).

Cons: You may have to fiddle with the equalizer to get the sound you'd like. Without this it sounded a bit off to me.
Summary: If you have had issues with the around the head design causing you lots of pain THIS is the item for you. Great form factor at a great price point.

One of the best headsets I have EVER owned. Hands down
by Raousha on December 2, 2011
Pros: Phone calls are clear, but you can still hear everything around you while both buds are in your ears. Many compliments on the look. Headset button to play music on your phone as well.
Cons: More difficult to adjust in a business setting, having to locate a place to put them or put them under your jacket collar. The charge port is inside the headset itself, just a minor inconvenience.
Summary: I have had at least 10-12 different headsets, including Jawbone, motorola, you name it. I love these, both for the sound quality, and I don't hear issues from my ...
Summary: I have had at least 10-12 different headsets, including Jawbone, motorola, you name it. I love these, both for the sound quality, and I don't hear issues from my callers about not being able to hear me. I was initially concerned with the appearance (I'm a suit and tie guy), but surprisingly I have received many compliments on the look of the head set. This is personally my favorite headset I have ever purchased. It started me in the habit of listening to music on my phone which I never used to do. I highly recommend this set (This is the first review of a headset I have ever posted).

-Easy buttons (very simple to keep track of what each button does)

Summary: I use this at school and its great. It keeps me free from any cords that may get caught on something. The sound quality is also perfect and crisp. I mostly use this for music but i have also used it as a headset to make calls. It has great notifications when someone has sent you a text or a call. It will pause all music and then ring/vibrate. I would not recommend this to someone who travels a lot because it is hard to hear calls in nosier environments. I would recommend this to anyone that just wants to listen to music.

DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANY LG PRODUCT

Summary: I bought the LG HBS-700 Headest for 2 months and liked its performance. At the two month mark, the earpiece cracked and the earbud fell off. I went through 4 or 5 LG Customer Service sources - all which did not have this product listed but insisted you put in certain information that made it very difficult. I finally spoke with someone that told me how to return the product - and that if they determined it was my fault they would tell me how much to fix. BTW, I paid to have the product shipped back.
Today I received the product back via Fedex - in the condition I sent it. They determined the break was my fault (it wasn't) and that they could not quote a fix, or a replacement, or a remanufactured replacement. They simply said I was out of luck - LG in effect just said "we are not honoring your warrantee and will not even find a way to try to make you whole". There was no appeal, no nothing - they decided.
I am glad my run in with LG was over a $50 product - I will now know not to buy an LG TV, phone, etc. because I do not want to get stuck with a $2000 TV that LG says "sorry about that 1 year warrantee but weve decided we cant fix or replace your product".
Out of the two Amazon reviews I read on this product, the second I read had exactly the same break at exactly the same place - at the seam in the two piece ear bud. LG would not replace nor refund his money as well. Two products do NOT break in the same place when used lightly and it not be a manufacturing problem. Even after calling them back and telling them about the other review, they insist they will not replace my product. I will NEVER buy LG again.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

• Ease of use: It uses the same charger as my cell phone (HTC EVO) and that is very convenient. One charger for two devices. It has an easy on/off switch, buttons for answering calls, volume buttons and play/pause buttons.
• Comfort: I have had other bluetooth devices but have always given up on them because they're uncomfortable in my ear or lose its connection with my phone. I somehow always revert back to the regular earpiece that doesn't need to be charged, despite the annoyance of wires. But I love how comfortable this device is! I don't even feel it around my neck. The earpiece stays in just fine. In the weeks that I have been testing the device, I haven't yet lost my connection with my phone.
• Battery Life: With 10 hours of talk time, I haven't yet had to worry about making sure the LG Tone is charged. I have gone from commuting to work, using it after work to going on a run to running errands and using it around the house over the span of many days on one charge.
• Sound quality: It sounds great while on a call and while listening to music. The sound quality is clear and blocks out background noises.
All in all, I love this device! I am a runner and I don't normally run with music because the buds usually come out while running or the wires get in the way. But with this device, I can play music from my phone which I'm carrying anyway and listen to music (in one ear only, of course!) The device bounces a little but I didn't even notice it and it didn't bother me. As a text message comes in, the device beeps to alert you. If a phone call comes in, the device vibrates and beeps. I downloaded the LG Bluetooth Reader and I now love the device even more! As text messages come in, the messages are read. So now as I'm running or driving, I can just listen to the message and not have to look at my phone at all.
The LG Tone is great for an active, multi-tasking person. We are always on the go, and this device is one you shouldn't leave home without!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Excellent bluetooth and portable with one downfall.
by SOXUSHGM on April 3, 2013
Pros: Portable, has option for both sides of ears to enable better quality of sound.
Cons: Picks up quite a bit of background noise. The person on the other side of the conversation will be able to hear quite a bit of the noise around the area you are.

Summary: Used it often but noticed that when I'm in a very important conversation it picks up quite a bit of background noise around me. My boss wasn't able to hear me on multiple occasions. She wasn't the only one. Many times I have had to repeat myself multiple times to the person on the other side of the line. They need to fix the mic and make it pick up less background noise.

One of my favorite devices! I absolutely love it!
by breita on February 27, 2013
Pros: Comfortable to wear... Work well under ear muffs. Great sound quality.
Much better than bluetooth sticking out of your ear all day. I commute to work (60-90 min). I watch videos on my Archos 5 or listen to music and now I never miss a phone call.Cons: This device should have the option of turning off the call dialer button. I often make calls just because my chin might press the button inadvertently.
Summary: I will continue to buy this product as long as they make it. Can't wait for future models. I absolutely love it!

Satisfied and Happy

I purchased this item because I wanted a more discrete Stereo Bluetooth headset. I am generally not fond of ear buds because of the pain and discomfort of wearing them, combined with the buds slipping out of my ears. This headset is not much different, but the advantages of this unit outweighs the shortcomings I have experienced with previous ear buds.
To start the buds are fairly comfortable compared to other ear-buds. There is some minor pain in wearing the ear-buds, but is bearable. The buds tend to slip out so I have to push them back in (minor inconvenience). What is redeeming is that the base response is exceptional for ear-buds. The base is best heard when the buds are fully inserted in the ear. Another nice advantage is that I can wear them discretely while driving. I can keep one bud in my ear for hands free use, either left, or right can be used independently.
The design of the headset is novel and well done overall. The buds have a magnetic base that the buds rest in. Nice idea, but the buds are not held in place very well. The buds slip out of their base easily.
The headset paired easily with my Samsung GS3. There is an optional Bluetooth reader App that can be read and downloaded using the bar code reader on your smartphone to scan the 2D barcode contained in the manual for the headset, or in the Android Market place (Google Play). I only tried this app on my old Samsung Vibrant, which did not work well. I hope to have a better experience on the GS3.
Charging time is short (around 2Hrs) and has a decent time of use on a full charge (10Hrs).
Despite the short comings I mentioned in my review, I highly recommend this headset.
