Summary: I've owned easily a dozen different BT earbuds. I'm a mailman and wear it all day long once I hit the street. It's range is several times better than anything I've owned before. If I left my vehicle to deliver a package with my old BT's the distance from the vehicle to the house was just about the limit. I had to keep my ear turned to my vehicle where my iPhone is kept. With this Moto I no longer have that problem. I've literally left my vehicle in front of an apt building, walked up a couple flights of concrete and metal landings (open aired), and still had connection. I've parked across the street from a house and walked all the way over to it and still had connection. Just great.
The battery life is also superb. I used to carry two Jabra Extremes because one would die and I'd recharge it while using the other. I now just carry the Moto. The battery life has degraded a little over the 8 months that I've approximately had it but I charge and use it every day. I mean EVERY day. We're talking at least 6-7 hours of solid podcast and music listening 6 days a week and then I still have it in my ear all day Sunday, although I don't use it as much on that day. It's still at medium charge after 6-7 hours of straight usage. It's a rock star.
This BT also has a rocker switch to volume up or down. I've had others where it just went up until it started over.
The only problem I've ever had with it is that sometimes I flip it open to answer a phone call and it's answered by the iPhone instead of the BT. I then have to switch it over. Not a big deal but annoying sometimes because I have someone asking if I'm there and I'm talking to the iPhone telling them to wait a minute.
Summary: To elaborate, when I use the audio beats ear buds that came with my HTC Rezound no one can even tell I'm using them and not my cell phone even though the microphone hangs near my belly button! How is it Motorola, Jawbone and apparently every other bluetooth company not been able to figure out how to improve the speaker reception quality for the people I'm calling is beyond me when it's 2 inches from my mouth!
Clearly bluetooth tech isn't there yet... other wireless headsets using other signals are all superior for the same size and price.
Pros: On/off convenient Great voice quality Truly awesome range Finally, a good fit for in-ear iPhone menubar integration for battery life and connection status Wants to (and does) pair when you first turn it on
Cons: Could break coming out of the package if you're not careful or clever
Summary: I've had several of the twice-as-expensive Plantronics headsets, plus tried Jawbone. Higher ratings, better quality, etc is why I tried them with my iPhone 4S. They are finicky, sound ...
Summary: I've had several of the twice-as-expensive Plantronics headsets, plus tried Jawbone. Higher ratings, better quality, etc is why I tried them with my iPhone 4S. They are finicky, sound quality is tinny, volume drops off and static rises quickly when walking away from my phone (or even keeping the phone in my pocket). This Moto device has none of those problems. The voice sounds like a landline handset. I can leave my phone in my office and have a great conversation in the kitchen 60 ft away. And I hardly ever have to charge, because I leave the Moto off, laying on my desk. Phone rings, flip the the Moto doodad, and it's ready to go. Hang up, flip and it's on standby.
