The good: The Sound ID 300 is a simple headset with good call quality, noise cancellation, and three personal listening modes to better suit your preference. It has a comfortable fit and is reasonably priced.
The bad: The Sound ID 300 has really small buttons, and we would've liked an additional volume key.
The bottom line: The Sound ID 300 is a great Bluetooth headset with good audio quality and ear comfort.

comfort and sound that amzed friends with "better" sets
by JacksSmirkingRevenge on September 25, 2009
Pros: the options and design of the ear pieces is great.no complaints on either end with sound quality.simple yet not too plain design is nice(dont need something futuristic..overall price at at&t online was great.extra ear wraparound is a bonus.
Cons: The buttons, while wearing the set were a little confusing and small but you get used to it.havent tested distance yet.my phone is always near so no comment on it yet.have had it for a couple weeks so we'll see if anything else pops up.
Summary: Having my ears being shaped slightly different inside, the funnel design and 3 options are great for me.I mainly use when i walk the dog and its so much ...
Summary: Having my ears being shaped slightly different inside, the funnel design and 3 options are great for me.I mainly use when i walk the dog and its so much easier than holding a phone(a thin light touchscreen non the less)and while im on the computer at home its easier to multitask with both hands free.
I've owned 3 or 4 other headsets and the 300 is by far the most comfortable and well fitted piece yet.i tried the motorola S9HD wrap around set and that beats the sound for sure but it seems like it was made for music more than a phone device.and its just overkill for what i need a set for.i have a small iPod i use if i want music.
I'm not up on the latest quality brands when it comes to headsets so i wasnt sure what to make of this one until i did my research.of course there are mixed reviews, but thats with anything.but the there was much more good then bad with this one so i took my chances.turned out to be a great decision because i couldnt be happier with it.I have and will continue to recommend this product to anyone asking about great headsets.I am a new fan of soundID as are a couple friends who took my advice.
Thanks C-NET for your review and input on this piece.it helped a lot.I've trusted a few other reviews you gave and now own what was reviewed. You havent disappointed yet.I'll always come back before buying anything new to see what you have said about it or if i need specs.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Elegant simplicity and worth every penny...
by roderick_fitzgerald on July 26, 2009
Pros: Effortless pairing (no problems at all)
Excellent performance (does exactly what it claims)
Quality design (minimalist, sleek, lightweight)
Wonderful fit (over-the-ear, S/M/L ear gels insure a snug and comfortable fit)
Simple to operateCons: "Piano" black finish scratches easily

Summary: I paired this headset with a BlackBerry Tour 9630 and, as recommended by Sound ID, turned off "Echo Control" during Bluetooth set up (from what I understand, the "Echo Control" setting can sometimes adversely affect sound quality.) Pairing was effortless. Callers say my voice sounds clear and natural and they have no difficulty hearing or understanding my speech. I confirmed this by leaving a message on my voicemail; my voice sounded natural and I could hear very little background noise despite the fact that I had called from a busy grocery store. I could hear faint background speech only. I also use voice dialing and have been easily understood by the system, encountering trouble only when I give commands where there is a lot of background noise (on a crowded train, for example.) The headset's range is also adequate and exactly as claimed. Sound ID claims a range of about 30 feet. I encountered faint static at 40 ft, which is 15 feet through and beyond my front door. The "PersonalSound" feature is easy to work with, but I haven't needed to go beyond the "Normal" setting and have not encountered any issues with hearing and understianding the other party. My overall experience has been extremely positive. The headset has performed exactly as promised and within an extremely pleasing form factor.

Four words: I LOVE THIS BLUETOOTH
by gamegrrrl on May 7, 2009
Pros: Good fidelity, small lighweight, fits in the ear without the infernal earloop (my Jawbone earloop broke of TWICE), fits snugly and stably in ear, even when moving around. Buttons are concealed but easy to find by touch.
Cons: None that I can find. I looked high and low for two years and I think I finally found a really excellent, affordable bluetooth headset.

I have had three jawbones, and the last two the earloop broke of permanently ruining the head set. Thank you CNET, which is where I found out about the Sound ID 300!

Poor sound quality...
by jptgs1 on May 14, 2009
Pros: Very comfortable in the ear, first device I've had without the ear loop.
Cons: Could not believe the poor sound quality when coupled with my iPhone. Sound was extremely tinny at best.
Summary: I used it for a week and returned it. Went back to my Plantronics 520.

I'm split 50/50
by ssgsoja on June 8, 2011
Pros: The fit is unbelievable and the sleek design is really nice
Cons: The bluetooth seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes it's paired with phone, but when I answer the phone, the call is on the phone and not the bluetooth. I hear the phone ring in the bluetooth, yet when I answer, the call is only on the phone.
Summary: I really wish this thing worked as good as it fits. I'm going to keep it but I'll probably just continue using Motorola only.

by fourstring--2008 on January 18, 2010
Pros: It is not too heavy or bulky
Cons: Sounds terrible, doesn't answer when call comes in, Crackles, using distance from phone 8-10' at best. Short battery time. Can't see green or red light when turning on even in the dark! Charger pins collapse when trying to plug in. Absolute Junk!

Summary: Was hopeful when purchasing that this product would work at least average. It doesn't. There are so many problems with this item. It is horribly uncomfortable with ear adapter, Crackles when you walk 8-10' away from phone, doesn't answer calls or pair up every time. Charger is junky, pins that go into outlet collapse when trying to plug in. People on other end of call say is sounds terrible. Cannot tell if it's turned on in daylight, can barely see on light in the dark! I can't remember when the last time I bought something so useless! Save your money and get some other brand! The Edsel of bluetooth headsets. One star rating is as low as I could select! Thanks for absolutely nothing! Don't buy this piece of Junk!

Satisfying
by skinnyflip on May 6, 2009
Pros: Awesome design, loud and clear conversations, really comfortable, does not disconnect.
Cons: Can't control volume when playing music or watching videos, volume control in phone calls is really minimal, my phone shuts off when doing the voice command feature.

Summary: I've been really looking forward to this headset for a while now, and so far i'm pretty much satisfied with it. It's not too weird looking like most headsets out there, no complaints from my callers or myself, and it is really comfortable to leave in your ear for a long period of time.
Call quality...so far I've been testing it's noise reduction by calling my voicemail using the soundid 300 with my nokia n82 and replaying it back to me in different scenarios. With this headset you can roll down your windows and have a little music going on while having a clear conversation, but when window's are down on a freeway while going 60mph, your conversation would be harder to understand. From what i've notice, this headset will do fine in conversations held in low to moderate noise environment. In louder environments you might still be able to carry a conversation, but either the caller or the other party might miss a few words and may not hear everything clearly.
This is the most comfortable headset i've used so far. I've just been using the real comfort ear gel and sniped of a little of the ear canal part. My ear does feel itchy on occasions, but when preoccupied with cooking BBQ or something, it didn't feel like I had it on.
On the down side, this headset isn't able to play clear music or video's and has no volume controls for it. Even if you try using the phone to change the volume of the music, your volume in the soundid 300 will stay the same. Hopefully soundid has a firmware upgrade in the future that will address this issue.
Overall I'm pretty happy with this headset, it has a nice look and conversations are pretty clear so far. If you really care about how your bluetooth looks on your ear and for comfort, I highly recommend this headset. -

Summary: The static is extremely annoying. The only way I can use it in the car is to put the phone on the dashboard, which is not safe, so that the headset and phone are closer together. Otherwise the static is bad. The buttons are very small and close to your ear which makes them hard to use. Sometimes the headset does not pick up the call when I press the button. The noise reduction seems to work, but people tell me I sound tinny.
