The good: Stereo headset for PlayStation 3; works with PSN in-game chat; long 16-foot wire; RCA bypass-capable connections; in-line control box; adjustable boom mic; also works as a PC/Mac headset.
The bad: No support for surround sound; stereo analog connections only.
The bottom line: The Ear Force P21 headset may not support surround sound, but it is a solid PlayStation 3 accessory that supports in-game chat.

Really good sound but ya gotta baby them...
by CoeDawg on December 23, 2012
Pros: Great sound. Long cord. Nice it has separate controls for both chat and sound.
Cons: Weak materials. Not durable.
Summary: The sound from this set is good, and I think it's priced pretty good compared to other similar sets.

My only complaint is the durability. I'm an adult and I treat my stuff with care but yet I had to buy a replacement headset because the plastic above the earpiece broke and left the earpiece hanging. Sad to say it broke in the exact same spot on the 2nd headset as well. It seems to be a stress fracture due to when you pull the ear pieces apart to put them on your head. This point and this point alone has left me disappointed and now looking for a different, hopefully better-built headset. -
Gets the job done for months at a time.

Pros: Comfy for extended gaming periods.
Gives the upperhand to those that know how to listen for footsteps, gunshots, etc.Cons: Cheap build quality.
Wires twist for no reason.
In-line control box is a nuisance.Summary: DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. Fork over the extra $20 for a better set. I've had mine since 11/09 and I just emailed Turtle Beach today to see ...
Summary: DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. Fork over the extra $20 for a better set. I've had mine since 11/09 and I just emailed Turtle Beach today to see if they'll replace my pair for the SECOND time. That's right, this will be my third pair in a year and I am by no means hard on my electronics whatsoever.

Summary: The P21 is an excellent product for the PS3. The chat quality is excellent, and so is the sound quality. For example, in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, footsteps can be heard from an extremely long distance, which can be a huge help when playing the game. The headset is very comfortable, and can be used for long gaming sessions. However, there are way too many wires that need to be plugged in, and no support for surround sound was a disappointment.

Great Pair of PS3 Headphones
by wildo88 on January 11, 2010
Pros: Game sound is handled very well, and having chat and ingame sound integrated into one pair of headphones is outstanding. Separate controls for chat and game sound are also nice, for on-the-fly adjusting when needed. Very comfortable as well.
Cons: There can be a slight "hissing" when chat sound is turned up and there is no game sounds occuring. But you can turn the chat sound down if not needed, and most games don't have that many moments of quietness. $80 was a bit high too, but worth it.
Summary: I have tried various bluetooth and USB headsets for chatting on the PS3 and these are by far better than any of them. They are a bit pricey, but for ...

Great product...a bit pricey but worth it!
by ShaggyUSM on January 7, 2010
Pros: Sound quality; adjustability; comfort; quietness (to those around you); you can hear YOURSELF talk (keeps you from yelling) and ease of setup
Cons: Minor hissing... only noticeable when no game sound is present.

Summary: I had the Turtle Beach PX1 before purchasing these. The PX1 was awesome but it had three drawbacks: it required 2 free USB ports, a separate soundcard for chat, and you couldn't hear yourself talk... in loud gaming situations it made me feel like I needed to talk louder so I ended up yelling. The P21 solved ALL of these problems: it plays a small amount of your own voice through the headset so you can hear yourself talk (like a phone); it only uses one USB port; and of course, doesn't require a separate soundcard for chat. You can hear the smallest in-game sounds with the P21! No more having people sneak up on you! The base boost is great, too! One of the BEST features, though, HAS to be the "dynamic talkback" that automatically increase chat volumes to overcome intense game sounds so that you can always hear what your teammates are saying!
The price at about $80, is a bit on the expensive side, but when figure you'll never have to worry about recharging a headset again and the fantastic audio quality you are getting... well, suddenly paying $30 more than a Sony Bluetooth headset doesn't sound so bad!
I would recommend this product to everyone! -
for $80, not good enough.

Summary: its good but, i thought that the sound quality was not good enough. there was a loud hissing sound when nothing was playing and even with the volume up it didn't quite go away. the mic was clear and all other features that come with it work well.
