What a piece of crap!

Summary: I have been working on a house design for 9mo using this software and it just keeps getting worse. I finally reverted to doing each floor as a separate drawing as the software couldn't handle my 3 story split level design. I lost most of the 3D viewer functionality many months ago and the object library is about 10yrs out of date. The Custom design feature for doors, windows, cabinets, etc. is also a joke.
If this is the best available, I don't want to even see the worse. Now I realize why most architects use AutoCad.

Seriously flawed

Summary: It is hard for me to rate this product, because I have not used any of the alternatives. So far, its most serious shortcoming is the limited options for exporting files. I have not found any other drawing software that can read the Punch! proprietary .PRO files. Because any useful drawing of building plans (at the standard 1/4"=1' scale) requires a paper size larger than what is available on most home printers, the ability to output PDF files, which could be taken to a printing service, seems basic, but the software does not provide that.
Also, the program does not conform to Windows standards in that it is impossible to start it by double-clicking a .PRO file. (More precisely, if you double-click the .PRO file, AS4000 issues a bogus error message and starts with a new file called Untitled-something.) The Punch support person seemed to think that it is perfectly acceptable for their product not to offer that option.

Summary: Bought this product because it sounded like it was not low or high end, I was looking for a middle ground. When the package arrived I thought I would need a handcart to move it, the company should knock the packaging down and save the consumer the extra $20. When it came to the installation this turned into a nightmare, everytime you put the disk in the system would freeze up the only way it boot from disk 1 is if you would restart your computer and then when it asked for you to insert the next disk you would have to eject it and reinsert the disk, overall this is a worthy product, but I would not deal with the installation problem again, a nice middle of the road design software with lots of tools.

Pros: En general es buen programa es muy adictivo en sano sentido de la palabra, me gusta como definis rapidamente las texturas.
Cons: No me gusta el armado de las losas o entrepisos no tienen una definiciòn de espesor.

not for ones who have a hard time learning new software

Pros: very powerful once you get you computer setup for the software and learn the way this tool is to be used
Cons: had to work with tech support to adjust my screen resolution down to a level that worked with the software. Quirks like this cause frustration... but a few emails and setting changes and the software works like a champ!
