The good: The DLO TransPod, designed for all existing iPods and other audio devices, features a combination charger/FM transmission cradle that is built for easy access and includes plastic adapters for both the iPod Mini and the iPod Nano. Its strong FM signal means static-free, wireless MP3 playback and excellent sound quality.
The bad: Setting up the cradle and arm of the DLO TransPod to fit the layout of your vehicle can be a hassle, and the supporting arm feels flimsy and easy to break. The overall design is bulky.
The bottom line: A worthy addition to your collection of iPod accessories, the DLO TransPod is one of the best FM transmitters on the market today.

Have only found models that are 88.1 to 107.9 does not work well

Summary: I used this and the DLO Micro without the docking station and have had nothing but problems. My friend has a model that goes from 87.9 to 107.9 abd his works perfectly in his Dodge truck. I can now only find models that go from 88.1 to 107.9. Why is this? I am using it in a Saturn SC2. Is it the car? or is it that fact that newer models of the DLO only go as low as 88.1.

Best bang for the buck

I couldn't decide between this item and the Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus, so I bought both. If you could combine the good features of each, you'd have a real winner.
While I like the fact that the TransPod creates a good solid mount for the iPod (so you don't have to fish for it at the end of a cable), you do have to unplug your earphones to use it. I sure hope the earphone jack doesn't wear out! Transmitter is also stationary, so you don't have to "hunt" for the best place to put it like the iCarPlay. I also wish it would cradle my iPod nano better because I have a rugged rubber case on it, and it just barely docks. I haven't had it jump out yet, but the streets in my city will definitely put it to the test. It's great that it powers itself off because I'm always worried my iCarPlay will run my battery down.
The bracket is something that's just plain ugly. Plus, it's very long. As other reviewers have said, you will have to put up with watching the whole thing bounce up and down while hoping it doesn't break. I'm trying to use mine by just hooking the lighter adapter directly to the cradle and not using the articulating joint, but I can't get it into an easily readable position. Hey , DLO! Can you give us a swivel adapter that will hook up closer to the lighter adapter?
All-in-all, I find myself using this product more than the iCarPlay, so that one goes in my wife's car. -
DONT BUY IF YOU LIVE IN A BIG CITY!

If you want a free one drive down I-635 because I chucked mine out the window and it's laying on the side of the road! -
Great when it works. Beware of the extension arm.

Summary: Due to my car's configuration, I used the extension arm, which is unstable, held together by a number of plastic finger bolts which loosen easily. The arm will fall to the side, literally, on a sharp turn. Over time, the whole system shorts out. At that point, reception is unreliable and the unit is essentially unusable. I was very happy with the unit for the 2 months that it worked, even when I drove from San Jose to San Diego and had to find new open channels fairly regularly (not difficult to do). DLO doesn't provide a help line or a warranty worth discussing, so if the unit goes south on you, you're out of luck. The lack of support should have been my clue about DLO's confidence in its product. Ultimately, a very disappointing product and company.

Excellent all around Fm Transmitter
by Powerslave15 on March 7, 2007
Pros: Charges the Ipod, Docks the Ipod, Minimal (if any) static while driving, 4 presets make on the fly changing a breeze
Cons: Weak plastic arm, can be awkward to position in some vehicles, constant charging will likely effect battery life

Summary: I was surprised at how well this transmitter actually worked. After much research I purchased the DLO Transpod and have been very pleased. I was skeptical at first after hearing one of my friends Transmitters, but this one is really top notch. You ovbiously wont get cd quality sound, so its not for audiophiles, but if there is no other alternative to connect your pod, this is the transmitter to get. Keeping in mind that your audio equipment in your car, and the location of the antenna for your stereo will effect the quality of the sound. Static is to be expected with transmitters, but I dont notice very much with this one. Take the time to find the best possible station that has the most clarity and dont get frustrated right away if you hear static. Recommended!

Very Disappointing

Pros: Quick Setup, Nano compatible, easy operation
Cons: Lots of static, hard to hold a station, arm cradle is weak, device quick to die

At first, it seemed to work great. The music almost always had some static, but that was to be expected. What was annoying was that we had to keep changing stations to find the best reception. I would estimate that we were forced to change stations every 5-7 minutes, which is ridiculous.
Then, after about 2 hours of listening, the device just decided to stop working. No station reception, no signal...nothing. It just up and died on us for no reason whatsoever.
When it worked, it worked well. But it didn't work for long so I can't say it evens out.
I will be returning this item, first chance I get. Stick to using your iPod ear buds until a better product comes on the market. -
Great concept, but "line out" technology leaves something to be desired
by Frogmariah on December 27, 2006
Pros: Extremely easy setup without any software installation; very good connection to radio

Summary: I will admit, this will probably not apply to most of the people that will be purchasing this device, but I enjoy taping live performances and playing the .mp3's on my iPod. Unfortunately, given the "line out" connection of the Transpod, these recordings, which come out quite loud, are extremely garbled and impossible to hear over the radio.
With the old iPod and iTrip, I was able to use the iPod's volume control to correct this. This "line out" idea, which for the most part works wonderfully, does not allow me to use the iPod's volume control.
For anyone that just downloads songs and plays them off the iPod, you will have little or no problems...the device is really a wonderful idea. If anyone has any ideas for my overcoming the "line out" plight, please let me know! -

Summary: As this is my first iPod FM transmitter, perhaps my expectations were too high, but the sound quality I got sounded flat, distant and a bit muffled. I went through every static frequency and found some better than others, but I was hoping for radio-quality sound, which mine does not give. Also, the sound settings on the iPod don't seem to make a difference to the output sound. It was also a little frustrating to set the presets - just make sure you select the preset you want before going to another frequency to select it as that preset.
