The good: Universal two-channel 2.4GHz wireless speaker system; easy to set up; wireless receivers include 50-watt digital power amplifiers; works with any surround speakers with standard speaker wire; also doubles as a powered wireless iPod speaker system or as a wireless system "zone 2" system in a nearby room.
The bad: Very expensive; still requires cables for power and speaker wires; critical listeners will notice occasional popping.
The bottom line: While it costs a bundle, KEF's Universal Wireless System makes good on its promise to deliver CD-quality sound to any brand of speakers.

KEF WIRELESS IS $500.00 WORTH OF USELESS.

Pros: THERE ARE NO PROS TO THIS SYSTEM. CONSTANT STATIC IN THE SURROUND SPEAKERS ALL THE TIME.
Cons: SENT TO KEF FOR REPAIR. CAME BACK UNCHANGED.

I BOUGHT THE SYSTEM FOR ABOUT THE SAME MONEY AS MY ONKYO RECEIVER COST. SENT TO KEF TO GET THE CRACKLING HISS FIXED. THEY SENT THE SYSTEM BACK TO ME IN THE SAME CONDITION AS I SHIPPED IT. I AM STUCK WITH 500.00 WORTH OF CRAP. DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM.

Noticeable Hiss

Summary: CNET's review states: "We noted the system was quiet--there was absolutely no hiss." I noted just the opposite. When all components are powered off and the KEF wireless transmitter is powered on, there is a noticeable, constant hiss coming from the speakers connected to the wireless system (and only from those speakers). Maybe I got a defective unit. I've contacted KEF and am waiting to hear back.

"processing artifacts" and "popping sounds"

Pros: Will let you say you have wireless speakers.
Cons: Messes with the sound and triples the number of needed wires so you can have a "wireless" system.
Summary: "occasional popping" does NOT equal "cd quality".

"Expensive" does NOT equal a smart investment when you are adding unwanted noise and wires to your system.
A wiser choice is the single strand of speaker wire that powers speakers with no added noise "artifacts" and no added "expense".

Too Expensive, But Works Great for Me

Summary: Layout of my entertainment room left few options for running wires, so opted to pony up the bucks for this experiment, and considering the other user reviews, was relieved to get great sound. I have a Denon AVR3808 receiver with Kef 3005 speakers, and have used this product for about 3.5 months. I have the wireless transmitter is powered by the receiver switched plug so it's not always on. With the receiver off, there is no noticeable hiss from the satellite speakers, where the receivers are always on. When the receiver is switched on, the wireless connection to the 12-15 ft distant surround speakers occurs transparently without interference, pops, or hiss. I've noticed no time delays, or any adverse distortion, and the sound is as robust as discernable by wire connection. Although still a very expensive option, this product has worked flawlessly and solved my speaker-layout dilemma.
