The good: The Logitech Harmony Link lets you control all your home theater gear using an app available for iOS and Android. There's also an iPad-optimized app that lets you view TV listings, with large colorful tiles. The Harmony Link adopts many of the best features of the standard Harmony remotes, including an easy Web-based setup process and activity-based commands like "Watch TV."
The bad: Though you can browse TV listings 24 hours in the future, you can't directly record them from the Harmony Link app. The use of the touch interface also forces you to constantly look between your TV and the app, unlike a remote with physical buttons you can feel. The Harmony Link also lacks Bluetooth support, so it can't directly control the PS3.
The bottom line: Logitech's Harmony Link lets you use your iPad, iPhone, or Android phone as a remote control, but touch-screen limitations and the iPad app's limited TV listings mean you're better off with a standard Harmony remote.

It's only beta worthy
by nameless on October 8, 2011
Pros: It's small and I got it using a 50% coupon - so I only wasted $50 so far.
Cons: Not ready for prime time yet. Very disappointing results. I haven't even got far enough along to evaluate the app on the iPhone, since I can't train the Harmony Link

Summary: Logitech's user interface web application is powered by SilverLight. While trying to train the Link, it seems to not understand about 25% of my Sharp Aquos remote commands. When it fails to comprehend the input, SilverLight goes to 100% CPU on my laptop and then I need to force quit my browser, and basically start all over. The funniest part of all this, when I try to train the Link, I can see my TV responds to everything I do while training the Harmony Link and yet most of the time Harmony can't understand the input from the factory remote. This product has so much potential but I'm not

Cons: Does not sync with iPad2 or iPhone4. Tech support couldn't figure it out.

Basic functions, lacks features for DVR and A/V remotes
by KingEdwardG on October 6, 2011
Pros: Easy to setup.
I've been waiting for this remote app / appliance which ooes the basics, provides tv guide, and not much more.Cons: The buttons provided in the app are limited to a few basic buttons. It's nice to have tv guide in the app, but what we really need is the ability to toss the other remotes and use the app and virtual remote, and the virtual remotes are only partially prov

WORTHLESS, except as a paperweight ......
by Dragon_wagon on November 24, 2012
Pros: None at all...
Cons: It doesn't work for a lot of people after Apples IOS6 update.
You'll have a 1% chance of getting any help for Logitech for this product.

Summary: If you have an iPad, you have a 50/50 chance of this product even working. I have this product and right now it is worthless , just a 100$ paperweight . Logitechs support of this product and app need to use it has been ( and still is ) VERRY POOR. The product worked great at fist, but then Apple updated thier software and Logitech took a long time to finally update thir app for it, when all was said and done, it somewhat fixed the problem for SOME people, for others ( like me ) it is a worthless paperweight. So buy it if you want and try it, at least when it doesn't work you'll be able to wait in line to return it and get your money back . Or at the very least, it will work for you till Apple updates again, then you'll have a nice paperweight too, also you'll get the pleasure of dealing with Logitechs pretty much nonexistent support ....
I'd say take your 100$ go to the casino place it on red or black at the roulette table. -
Fantastic concept; Not very extensible.
by Digitally_Dave on December 1, 2011
Pros: very limited app support; works great on an iPad.
Cons: Very cumbersome if wantmore than one. You can only manage one per account. Since your account is your email address, you need multiple email addresses

Summary: While the concept and technology are very good, Logitech came up a little short sighted when it came to conceptualizing how a consumer might want to use it. We were initially thrilled with the first one we bought, but when we went to expand to additional rooms (by purchasing additional units) the thrill rapidly faded.
You cannot treat "home entertainment" as an integrated system, manageable from a single interface. You must create a separate MyHarmony account online for each Link.
Unless you have a dedicated iPad for each of room, you have to log out and log in as you move about the house.
With regard to the app on the iPad, Logitech did a great job! However, it would be great if some time were to be spent on an app useable on Android tablets. Their Android app only runs on smartphones and is not very robust. -
Not worth $100, archaic online setup, slow response
by elias0173 on November 22, 2011
Pros: Small is the only pro
Cons: Direct USB to PC required for setup. It has wifi why cant we utilize that for setup?
When changing activities or channels there is a noticeable lag and the response is very slow.

Summary: Unless your getting this as a gift or a discount do not waste your money on it. Luckily I was given a few $50 gift card and I purchased this along with the Logitech Revue and the PS3 bluetooth adapter. I like the Revue but it seems the Logitech Harmony Link was a waste of money. I've been playing with it for two days trying to teach it the commands and keep it from turning my TV off when switching activities or selecting the wrong input. Its a work in progress and I think Logitech could have done a better job. Great job marketing and advertising this device but bad job in the execution.

Works Great. Perfect for my setup
by smokes702 on October 25, 2011

Summary: i have a complete home theater setup and plan on putting everthing in a closet.I considered the harmony 1100 but its just a remote. If your looking at these it means you want the ability to hide all your devices and control them on a touch screen(a touch screen with more than just buttons) having the tv listings is great and the UI is too.
i have over 600 movies in my media collection and with just a couple buttons pressed im using a xbmc remote app that has a wall of movies and there cover art.
have you seen the other devices and there apps. Its not even close.UI is crap and they have to be in the line of site. and there data base of remotes do not touch logitech.
I guess it all comes down to what your setup is and if yours is close to mine then deffenitly buy this -
Finally, a TV Guide that's a Remote
by alltrippy on October 9, 2011
Pros: Amazing Guide type UI, can change channels without toggle, read about show with picture before watching, extensive use of Favorites and Channel block to slim down choices, easy to sync and keep up to date. An amazing remote for the iPad.
Cons: More categories of types of shows (movie, family, sports etc.). More buttons on remote part of the app. Maybe some buttons on the remote you can assign your own button. When you open an activity on the remote part, only applicable extra buttons on the li

Summary: I have had the remote for a week. I absolutely love it. You have a tv guide that you can go to a channel from that guide direct. You also have the actual remote pull out from the side. The main thing about this remote is that you have to get your favorites entered. So, when you go tona day you have a category for favorites and it will pull up just those shows you want to watch. Now, since you only can see about 24 hours ahead you need to spend the week putting in your favorites as they come up on the guide. Than on the guide part you gave the ability to further categorize your watch categories, that seem to be pretty important with this guide style remote. I absolutely love it.

Summary: I was really interested in the LInk when it was announced as we have two ipads in our house. I also like the idea as over the years I've had three harmony remotes of varying price but they always break. Its either the charging station or the infra red eye or it just stops working. When its in guarantee I call Logitech and they send a new one. They always ask me to send the broken unit back but I never have so I've 9 broken Harmony remotes in a draw! After the ninth one broke and it was out of guarantee I said never again.
The remote works for me becuase:
As I don't use DVR I don't need the ipad app to record a program and anyway couldn't this be added through an upgrade to the app? After all its just come out.
When I sit down to watch TV and once I know what I'm watching I don't need to touch the ipad until the program is finished.
It would be nice to be able to plan a period of programmes and have the app change the channels as needed.
I'm sure Logitech will be collecting feedback for the app and some of the gripes could be resolved in future versions of the app.
But for now its great for me. -

by swisslakes on September 30, 2011
Pros: It is Based on Apps, and Apps cpuld be updated easy and online pushed to your Mobile devices
