The good: 5.1 home theater system; built-in Blu-ray player; best-in-class sound quality; excellent image quality on Blu-ray movies; Netflix and Pandora streaming; fast Blu-ray load times; iPod dock included; attractive exterior design.
The bad: Design has some usability issues; no video inputs; no automatic speaker calibration; PC streaming feature is more trouble than it's worth.

A big rookie mistake
by StabMasterArson on October 29, 2010
Pros: The video quality is great and it's easy to setup.
Cons: The sound bar has awful quality and dialogue is often hard to understand. No Audio Output! The HDMI out only sends video so you can't even run the audio through the TV.
Summary: On the surface it seems like a great purchase given it's low cost and flashy appearance but in the end it's lack of options lowers it's value. ...

Very good product for the price!!

Pros: Easy setup.
Acceptable connectivity.
Sound is great for HTIB.
Netflix and Pandora are very nice.Cons: None really since I haven't had any of the problems others speak of.

Have this system hooked up to my Samsung 58" plasma and they are awesome together! I never expected a top of the line stereo so I'm not disappointed there. That being said, it is plenty loud enough in my 18' by 26' room that it is in. Action movies rumble at the right times. There is a little problem hearing very quiet conversations if you have it in any mode other than "matrix" but it only bothers the wife, not me;)
Glad I bought it and would do so again!!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Excellent for Pandora/Netflix streaming..
by msweetnam on April 22, 2010
Pros: 1) Pandora is fantastic and this product lets you take full advantage of it.
2) Same goes for Netflix streaming.
3) Very simple setup for both the network and the wireless rear speakers. it was just plug and play.
4) Great blue ray
5) ipod dockCons: 1) Netflix. Most ISP's throttle your download.
2) Slow start.
3) Requires a TV screen to use anything other than the radio (i.e. pandora)Summary: I would definitely say this unit is a good purchase. Netflix has only has a portion of it's movie database available for streaming. More detail on the Cons
1) ...Summary: I would definitely say this unit is a good purchase. Netflix has only has a portion of it's movie database available for streaming. More detail on the Cons
1) Netflix. Though the device is perfectly fine with netflix, most ISP's throttle your download after some period of high bandwidth usage. This means the Netflix streamed movies get interrupted at times while it re-buffers content.
2) Slow start. The unit always checks to see if there's something in the disc player before letting you do anything else, takes about 8 -10 seconds, which is annoying. I want it on to where I left it when I turned it off!
3) Requires a TV screen to use anything other than the radio (i.e. pandora)1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: Worked great until needed firmware update to watch Blu-Ray disks just over 3 months after purchase...
Cons: Followed directions of support technician...system now locked with blue bubble screen...chat support technician said firmware update NOT recommended, but still out on website for download...said I would need to mail to NJ for repair...
Summary: Bad firmware update still on web-site despite numerous blog postings that it is not working, technicians still walking users through using it and technician recommending against upgrading it... Attempted to ...

Attempted to submit on-line service request to mail it in to NJ, but because it was 20 days over the 3 month warranty date it would not accept it...

Buyer Beware
by LCStace on January 9, 2010
Pros: The design is fairly stable and speakers are not cumbersome or intrusive. I really loved the IDEA of streaming Pandora.
Cons: This product has been a nightmare! The BR would not play over component video cables then the Ipod cradle would quit playing, locking up the BR player until the entire system was restarted.Tried to upload new firmware, now BR won't play ANYTHING!
Summary: We have had this product less than 2 weeks and have been working on it to exasperation. I am luckily going to resolve this problem shortly by returning the product ...
Summary: We have had this product less than 2 weeks and have been working on it to exasperation. I am luckily going to resolve this problem shortly by returning the product to Best Buy and refusing to ever buy another Samsung product. This product did not deliver on ONE SINGLE ADVERTISED FEATURE. I am not a remarkably tech-savvy person but I am not functionally illiterate when it comes to setting up these out-of-the-box systems. Even the Samsung website was dysfunctional! When I tried to review the product that I had registered, I got an error.
There are inconveniences like the strange design of the BR player with the top buttons but mostly all I can say is we bought a lemon. This was a completely useless box of plastic and metal parts that DID NOT WORK.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Good price Good looks Good features
by Liquidjoker on December 14, 2009
Pros: I like the features Netflix Blockbuster Pandora and You Tube plus the "shared folder" option ( my HT was assembled in October 2009 no firmware update required) I have a ToC T.V. so color goes great. I paid $379 so that was perfect.
Cons: The disk tray is noisy when searching for a disc only. The subwoofer is a little bit weak, but sounds great not sloppy. The speaker wire can only be replaced with wires from samsung. I dont like the Blue-ray logo on the disk tray.
Summary: Overall I love it, I feel bad for those people that had the firmware problem. (Update with a memory stick next time)The sound is crispy and clear the woofer ...
Summary: Overall I love it, I feel bad for those people that had the firmware problem. (Update with a memory stick next time)The sound is crispy and clear the woofer is not loud but it sounds good. It goes great with my Samsung ToC. It came with the ipod dock and I can make the back speakers wireless later if I want to.

Summary: I bought this HT system because it was well priced and allowed for Blu Ray, Netflix connectivity, and surround sound all in one package. The look of the actual unit is nice and goes well with Samsung TVs however the grilled satellite speakers would look better with a foam or fabric cover. The interface for this unit is horrible and is the biggest gripe I have with this system. iPod and You Tube interfaces are worthless. You are better off running those through the AUX input right off the iPod or a computer. Netflix interface is better, but also not as good as the interface on other devices such as a Wii. You have to go online and add content to your queue before it will show up on the interface. There is no real time search from the unit, it all has to be done online from a computer. The sound on the system is pretty good when watching a Blu Ray, but can wash out at higher volumes. For some reason you can never get the same quality sound from the surround sound as you can from a Blu Ray even when the programming you are watching is rated in HD sound. Overall this system is decent for the price, but if faced with the purchase again I would save some extra money and get a proper receiver and speakers from Onkyo or Dennon and a Blu Ray system with a better on screen interface.

What is wrong with Samsung?
by ghgillis on October 14, 2011
Pros: When it works, it works well.
Cons: I get crackling out of the right front speaker and sometimes it cuts out completely. The helpdesk said that the patch would fix it. It did not. This is completely bogus.
Summary: Samsung used to be a GREAT company. What happened to it? Never ever again.
