Nightmare!
by gmcclen on May 26, 2010
Pros: During the five days that the system worked, I was very pleased with the quality of the sound and the Netflix connection.
Cons: Too many problems with a brand new unit.

Summary: After struggling with the initial set-up, I spent quite a while on the phone with Samsung tech support who advised me that the Anynet feature caused a lot of problems. I followed his advice, and the system worked, but without Anynet, I was required to use separate remotes for the 6730 and my Samsung TV.
Everything worked fine for 5 days, then the 6730 would no longer go to the menu screen that includes Netflix, Pandora, and other settings options. Another hour-plus on the phone with Samsung tech support, who determined that the unit was defective and needed to be repaired. Samsung sent me a prepaid UPS label, but I had to pay $15 for UPS to put it in a box with bubble wrap.
After 13 days, I took a day off work to wait for the UPS truck, who delivered a refurbished unit. Set-up failed. The automatic speaker calibration (which worked perfectly on the first unit I bought) failed four times. After spending an hour and 4 minutes more on the phone with Samsung tech support, they decided the wireless receiver needed to be returned for repair. Since this will require another two week wait, and another day off work to wait for the UPS delivery, I asked to speak to a higher level of tech support (level 3). I'm not convinced that the problem is with the wireless receiver which worked perfectly before, rather than the refurbished home theater unit that I received today.
I was told Level 3 support will call me in 24 to 48 hours.
I planned to write this review after all the issues were resolved, but at this point the best I can hope for is a couple of refurbished products and two to four more weeks of waiting for the UPS truck.
I have enough information to recommend that no one should buy this product.3 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Good concept, bad execution.
by bagnallr on May 30, 2012
Pros: Loud and multifaceted.
Cons: Some of the facets don't work... FM function just disappeared. Trying to turn the Power On/Off Sound 'off' doesn't actually work after the first power off. Makes an obnoxious 'ding' powering up even though selected to 'off'.
Summary: This blu-ray as with all I have seen are slow to start to the point I thought Microsoft designed it. Buy a Playstation... I don't have one yet but ...

After calling the Samsung help desk I am even less impressed with them ...

Incredible system with many options, sllight headaches
by battlecow17 on March 11, 2012
Pros: - One of the few all-in-one 7.1 systems out there
- Good sound quality
- Sleek look
- Powerful
- Many features, including AnyNet, WiFi, Wireless rear speakers and more
- Convenient hook upsCons: - System came out with flaws.. felt like using Microsoft: patches fixing problems after being irritating. Some compatibility issues, but after updates and a couple calls to Samsung its working as expected
- Could use more inputsSummary: As the market gets more competitive it seems many top of the line companies get hasty in releasing their latest products that still need more tweaking. This is one of ...
Summary: As the market gets more competitive it seems many top of the line companies get hasty in releasing their latest products that still need more tweaking. This is one of them... If I hadn't been impressed with my other Samsung components (plasma TV, 3D player, receiver) I might not have had the patience to work out the issues. Now that I have, I am glad to have done so finding really nothing else out there that comes close.

Major reliability problems
by corig1 on February 1, 2011
Pros: Great sound
Cons: I have had two of these units fail because of the blueray player dying. The first unit arrived DOA the disc tray would not open. The replacement unit just stopped reading blueray discs. I will soon be on my third player.
Summary: I wish I had not bought this HTS.
Two dead units now with the same problem of the blueray player failing

Stunning sound quality all in an elegant, modern packag
by oneupcanuck on August 29, 2010
Pros: Sound quality is incredible, rear speakers quite powerful. Sub produces good rumble and tight thumbs for fast beats. The blue-ray player looks very elegant and modern with its glowing touch-sensitive lights. Has loads of features, too many to list.
Cons: Rear speakers sound a bit flat producing some types of sound. Had to exchange my brand new system with another because the front volume controls quit working and Samsung's customer support was terrible.

I have never heard such a great quality HTIB before! Combine this with HDTV box and you'll be in surround sound heaven. I absolutely love this system except for the fact that it's reliability is questionable given the problem I had right away. I hope it's just bad luck. Basically with Samsung they make great products but have lousy service so you better hope it doesn't break down outside of 30 days. -
Love this product!
by zrmr2386 on July 17, 2010
Pros: Setup was easy and straight forward. Sound quality is excellent. Inexpensive considering what you get (got mine for $650 /w free shipping). HDMI inputs make hooking up my XBOX 360 and cable a breeze. Wireless rear speakers. Gotta love Netflix!
Cons: If you live in an apartment, you can't really turn it up more than a third of full volume without bothering your neighbors :)

Summary: I've enjoyed this product from the moment I opened the box. Everything was well packaged including protective clear plastic on the speakers to make sure they arrive shining. Assembly was simple and straight forward with the included color coded speaker cables. Automatic calibration of the surround sound worked great the first time and adjustable time delay between audio and video ensures consistency regardless of your distance from the speakers. Connecting to my wireless router was as easy as typing in my security password. The blueray player found my wireless connection no problem and I haven't had a single issue with it since. I thought XBOX360 games like COD Modern Warfare, Borderlands, and BIOSHOCK were great before I got surround sound but the experience is totally different when you have 360 directional sound. It's as if your on the battlefield with explosions, yelling, and the creepy sounds of monsters coming interactively from every direction. The first blueray I played was the second transformers movie as I thought the dynamic fight scenes would provide the optimal platform for an initial test of the surround sound experience. I was right and not disappointed in any way but the truth is the best types of movies to watch are horror/suspense flicks. I was jumping during movies I'd already seen as creepy sounds and sudden screams barraded me from all sides making me feel as if I was the one about to be jumped.
I'm rambling at this point but bottom line is, setup was a breeze. I haven't had a single problem with the system. Even the experience of HD Cable TV content is much improved with just 5.1 content. XBOX 360 games seem to come to life and Netflix content comes through with crystal clear HD quality when available. My only complaint is Netflix doesn't support surround sound content but that's a Netflix deficiency, not the system's. I would highly recommend this home theater system to anyway who wants a great surround sound experience without spending a fortune to get it (so everyone). -
Many features but a poor quality product
by paulp99 on April 1, 2011
Pros: Shiny black case looks nice
Cons: Anynet+ cannot turn on this device (falsely advertised as being able to control all devices with one remote, this is not possible)
Motion blur on blurays and mpeg noise very typical because this units dodgy firmware
Sound sync issues
DLNA playback issuesSummary: Stay clear of Samsung products if you want quality look elsewhere as their new marketing approach is to try and pack in more features (like dnla, internet) but unless these ...
Summary: Stay clear of Samsung products if you want quality look elsewhere as their new marketing approach is to try and pack in more features (like dnla, internet) but unless these features work properly they would be better off with a simple clean design which focuses on quality video and sound reproduction, like the older models.
