Bang For The Buck!!!
by filtrator on April 10, 2008
Pros: Huge array of I/O options and great versatility with each for the price. Overall, the speakers have decent sound quality for this level of a unit.
Cons: Wireless ready so not included in the box...
Summary: Just took it out of the box and set-it-up -- ultimately -- this is a really great unit for the price.

Some wicked features:
-- An attachable iPod dock comes with removable adapters which snap onto the dock itself to fit your particular model iPod -- adapters fit both my iPhone and 160GB iPod. Samsung programmed the HZ-310T so that you can browse your iPod with your remote & TV to search and play music...
-- Media files (pics or video) either on a memory stick with or mp3 player (non iPod) can connect to the front USB port to view through your TV...
-- An Auxilary 1/8" input to plug-in an iPod or other device...
Sound quality is decent for the price...3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Decent system for the price
by TG426 on March 28, 2008

Summary: I was looking for a low to mid-range system for the kids' TV room in the basement that was easy to use and this does the job. This is a brand new model from Samsung. When I went to the store they did not even have it set up yet, so I bought it sight unseen. I figured ratings for other Samsung products were on the high end so I took the chance.
I bought it at best buy because I had a gift card, but usually do not shop there due to sales people being little to no help...I usually know more about their products than they do just from a few minutes of research.
I was a little disappointed with the plastic mounts to secure the front and rear speakers to the ceiling/wall but in the end it worked out ok and looks alright. The subwoofer's speaker in the rear is exposed which may be a problem if the kids touch it.
So, for the price it is a pretty good system, good sound quality, easy to install however I would have liked better quality plastics and an HDMI input to listen to TV programming in HD.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Well i got this set from Circuit City since I had credit over there and got it for about $30. Even if i didn't these are still really good bang for the buck.
When opening the box i had the usual dread before setting up a speaker system but it all took about 15 minutes or less. The mounts may not rotate but they're free and suit me. I have all the satellites mounted and its going strong. Cables are more than long enough for me but i'm in a 10x10 room. Colors are glossy black and match my tv, ps3, and the rest of my room.
This HTS in my room is connected to my 42" HDTV, my computer, and my PS3. Sound is absolutely amazing while doing any of these activities.
Well with my computer i have simply connected with an 3.5 mm audio cable going from the front output on my computer to the front input on the dvd/receiver. I mostly listen to music that has intense bass whether it be rock or hip-hop and the bass is STRONG. I put it on full volume playing "Love Lockdown" and went outside and heard and felt my house shaking. All from a 6" SUB!! With all this, the sound is still clear. Not crisp like say BOSE but pretty darn close.
Now my TV. Not much to say here. I have audio out from the TV into the receiver and anything i connect to TV goes through 7.1 optical audio cable for clear sound.
The best to notice the sound is my Playstaion 3. While playing war games like COD 5 I put it to about 30 and it feels like an all out war in room. Bombs bursting behind me and bullets actually go flying by you. Rock Band needs to be loud to get you in the mood and these speakers allow for that and more.
The DVD playing upconversion is not always noticeable but I do beleive it is pretty good because the Playstaion 3 is a Blu-ray player and blu-ray players are supposed to do the best up conversion but when I tested, the DVD player looked slightly better. Its connected to my TV using an HDMI cable and its good.
PROS: Great Value, Compact Speakers, Glossy Black Finish, Strong Bass compared to size, Clear Sound
CONS: Came with an iPod dock that didn't work. Tried many things with it and called customer service but they said I had to send in the whole system to fix it AFTER setting everything up. NOOO. Speakers some time seem to fluctuate with volume and sound quiet at times where its usually loud. I hate that when I try to change certan options such as speaker channel boost or mode i have to go to the main screen and change it through my tv.
My final word is that this is perfect for anyone with a average sized room looking for great sound for a great price. I got it and never regret that I did.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I suggest Don't wasting money on this Home Theater system. The Support really sucks. I had to call multiple times and every time (after long hold) the tech say unplug and wait 2 minutes and plug back in. Finally after many attempts they asked me to ship to their repair center. They don't pay for shipping. I learnt my lesson.

no bluetooth, bad fm tuner, bad dvd player
by madcow3417 on November 29, 2008
Pros: The speaker a pretty, they sound better than my tv's built-in speakers.
Cons: There is no bluetooth (samsung advertises bluetooth), the DVD player is horrible, the FM tuner is pretty bad.

Summary: This product is NOT bluetooth capable. Their website makes it clear there is bluetooth and every retailer copied it from them. Check their manual, there is no mention of how to use it. I also called their tech support (800-726-7864) and they told me any mention of bluetooth was a typo. I didn't buy this for the bluetooth, but the false advertising does annoy me.
The DVD player on this is useless, at least for me. I have a 5 year old philips DVD player that plays my DVD-Rs just fine. I burn them all at half the rated speed to make sure they're decent copies. The HT-Z310T plays them with horrible distortion and keeps freezing for a second at a time. In my case it has nothing to do with upconversion. It can play my CDs alright though.
Many retailers have the wrong picture. If the picture shows 2 small and 2 medium speakers then it's wrong. This product comes with 4 small speakers.
The FM tuner isn't good. I have it hooked up to a fairly large antenna. I have another tuner hooked to the same antenna and it gets 7/8 of my favorite stations perfectly, one with a little static. The built in tuner gets 3 of those stations perfectly, 1 with static, and 4 not at all. Just to clarify for anyone else that makes this mistake, a digital tuner with RDS does not get digital radio stations. It's not supposed to.
Due to the problems with the DVD player I have to keep my old one around. That uses up the optical input. Having an external FM tuner requires using the 3.5mm AUX jack. That leaves the only remaining audio input, composite stereo, to operate on a switchbox for audio from my tv and game systems. I'm losing the 5.1 audio from the ATSC signal that way, and it means I have to get up to turn the switchbox every time I change what I'm doing.
Oh yeah, I had to turn off the audio delay (on by default). It made what the actors mouths and voices disjointed.
On the plus side, the speakers look pretty. They come with more than enough cable to put the rear speakers behind my sofa. I think they sound better than the TV's built in speakers. With an hdmi cable attached to the speakers my samsung tv's remote controls the speaker's volume via anynet.
Overall I was looking for something an audiophile could listen to and say "that's ok." I think I reached that goal. As a technophile I'm disappointed though.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great speakers, poor DVD player =(
by NickyCymbals82 on March 6, 2011
Pros: Great speaker system, easy to use, multiple audio pre-sets built in for any set up; cinema, music, matrix, etc.
Cons: The DVD player craps out. Samsung and Samsung Corp. will not do ANYTHING for you either. Mine crapped out after about 2.5 years and there's a plethora of other buyers online who have had the same problem within an even shorter amount of time.
Summary: Long story short: unless someone is giving this to you for free, spend your money elsewhere.
