Fantastic Sound and Style for the price
by rizmalik on July 30, 2007
Pros: Very Stylish, Incredibly small speakers with big sound and accurate decoding, Nice upconversion
Cons: No backlit remote, No 1080p upconversion

Summary: I was hesitant at first but decided to order it. I was totally amazed by the sound, style and utility of this small system. The subwoofer is really loud and accurate and so are the tiny speakers. Many settings possible and the movies sound and look awesome. For an average sized living room this system is perfect. I have never seen speakers this small and nice looking. You still have to do the wiring and calibration, but it is truly a 5.1 system. Don't go for 2.1 simulated ones, they are a waste of money. I watched "The Incredibles and King Kong on this system and I was astonished by the sound quality and picture. I have a 46" 1080p XBR Bravia and I wish this system had 1080p upconversion. All in all, for $799 or or possibly less, you can't beat this one. There is $99 iPod dock port in the box and my iPod sounds great with these speakers and you can view all the songs on the TV screen and can use the system remote to control all iPod functions. This is a fantastic buy. This theater system is phenominal. Buy it and you won't regret for a second.

Summary: Excellent system for a small room like a bedroom or home office. Tight bass but not as powerful as the sony dream system I have in the living room. Great surround and good midrange. The speakers are practically invisible. I keep them on stands and they look elegant.

Summary: This powerful little machine is a real dynamo. The speakers producer amazing sound and are about the size of a golf ball. Great system if your space is limited or just don't want speakers dominating your living room. DVD playback is excellent with dynamic surround sound and a crisp picture. Included Ipod dock works with Ipods but not Iphones. Set-up is easy. Only has one HDMI input, so additional equipment needed if you want to add multiple HDMI sources. Subwoofer is large and powerful. This a great package that won't disappoint.

Summary: I have used this system for a couple months now and have been surprised by the sound quality. I wired the speakers into the ceiling for surround sound. Movies are great and even television. The sound is very clear for such a small unit.
Sound wise it doesnt beat a Bose still but in terms of price it is way better. -
Lacks a lot of features
by jaanux on April 2, 2008
Pros: Nice sound, good build quality, wonderful looks
Cons: Bad AM reception, Lacks VU meter display. Cant handle live voice from a Mic.

Summary: Bought this one a month ago. Got it working perfectly. Got used to its great sound. When you turn it on dont expect to see eye candy on the display. I like to see running VU meter lights in front of it when its playing. But it doesnt have one. It doesnt have an extra input jack just for anything any source. It doesnt have a timer. It takes 10+ seconds to read the CD when you insert it. When you rely on the built in calibration you will end up in a very weak bass. So you have to manually adjust it. My wife is dissapointed when she plugged in her MagicSing Karaoke mic because the small speakers seems not able to deliver the live voices coming out from the microphone. I paid 870$ including the 3yr warranty. Not totally impressed but the overall sound output is good. Dont buy this if you dont intend to connect it with your TV because it will be impossible for you to tweak it.

Not a bad system
by Flips256 on March 11, 2008

Summary: I set this system up as an alternative to my 7.1 surround system in another part of the house. Although this system does not compare to that one, it is quite good for use as an everyday system - watching TV, watching sports and MAYBE a movie or two. I would not consider this system as the ultimate in theater system and I am not certain it was desgned or marketed that way. The range of sound is very good. I found that by turning the sub woofer over with the speaker pointing upwards I get a little more Bass out of the system. All in all a nice compact, easy to use and easy to listen to system. Plays music from the IPOD cradle flawlessly and that function sounds the best.

First-time Owner
by wrnohguy on September 1, 2007
Pros: Speaker size, Quality, Remote Control
Cons: Voices/Talking/Dialog too hard to hear without turning it up all the way and then when an action scene comes on it scares the hell out of you :)
Summary: Overall, I'm very happy. I think the con I mentioned may be the same with all these types of products.

Once Again Sony Screws Up a Good Idea
by blackbarbie on March 13, 2008

Summary: In true Sony fashion, the company has managed to take a great design and screw it up with poor customer service, a complex operating manual/instructions and proprietary "innovations" designed solely to prevent cross brand usage.
In addition to being unable to get sound from my TV (a Toshiba) to play through the speakers or watch videos from my iPod, the DVD player doesn't work and Sony wants me to pay to ship it back to them for repair/replacement, even though I just got the thing 3 days ago. Guess I should have paid for the store plan, that allows me to simply change it out for a new one instead of having to deal with the manufacturer. For now, I'll just have to be content listening to NPR or Mike Savage in "surround sound"0 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.
