The good: Sound-bar home theater system (no AV receiver required); best-in-class virtual surround processing and overall excellent sound quality; four HDMI inputs; three digital audio inputs; analog video upconversion; wireless music streaming from an iPod with included adapter; wireless subwoofer kit included; Sirius-ready; FM tuner; automatic speaker calibration.
The bad: Very expensive; doesn't support 3D video pass-through; no subwoofer included; much larger than many competing models; a true 5.1 home theater system sounds better.
The bottom line: The Yamaha YSP-4100 offers better surround effects, superior sound quality and more features than competing sound bars, but it's expensive and most buyers won't need all its functionality.

Outstanding sound that will leave you surprised!

Summary: This soundbar sounds phenomenal. It provides great mids while creating an astounding home theater effect.You will however need a subwoofer for your lows. The system comes with Yamaha's SWK-W10 wireless subwoofer kit which allows you to hook up a subwoofer anywhere in your room without a cable. Per cnet's review video clip it is not cheap but does an excellent job replacing a 5.1 sound system without having to wire all over the place. I wall mounted mine with Yamaha's wall bracket. It easily snaps in place. The only issue I have had is the wireless ipod/itouch streaming which tends to fade in and out. I have not yet figured out how to get around this issue. All in all it's a kick-butt sound system.
