Excellent sound tuning capability

Pros: Crossovers for each speaker pair and a parametric eq let you get the most our of your speaker setup. Also, the 24 bit DAC coupled with 4V preouts are more cohesive with high powered systems than conventional DAC's and 2V preouts.
Cons: Limited iPhone compatibility: playback works while charging is not supported.

Summary: While there are better sounding head units out on the market, the cda-9887 provides some sophisticated sound tuning capabilities (such as imprint) at a respectable price. Menu navigation and ipod controls are good and the display is easy to read. One non-essential feature that I like is the color option regarding button illumination. I have 3 cars with 9887's and each head unit has a corresponding color pattern that matches each car. Obviously the colors are limited and not all vehicles will match, but the flexibility is nice.
