Summary: What a piece of junk. Spent a fortune on custom system with this unit, but unit disables most features while moving. Uses GPS to sense movement. NO known hack. Even just to use GPS need to pull over to look up address or directions. Worthless. Full of bugs. Crashes every day. Resets to factory defaults every other day. Even when working, super SLOW... cumbersome interface. Just junk. I wasted my money and support from PIoneer is non-existent. JUNK

Summary: The main issue I have with this unit is that it quits working, crashes or frezzes on hot days. I mean: if tyhe iside of the car is hot due to parking in a hot day, the hard drive goes crazy and either frezzes, crashes, fails to boot, partially boots without screen and/or sound. It seems that some hard drives are defective but Pioneer does not want to admit to this. I am not the only person with this problem, chech avic411.com. The Atlas navagation is poor quality and poor performance when compared to Garmin and Tom-Tom and believe I know what i am talking about since I own a Garmin Nuvi660. It does not play MP3 DVD's and does not record MP3 music to its hard drive. Paired cell phones can not be deleted but replaced. Unless you hacked, you will need to stop to input data to the GPS and you can not watch DVD's while driving unless it is hacked. I agree with the not watching DVD's while driving. What bothers me is the part about the GPS, they did not figure that you moght be driving with somebody else. The unit has too many bugs for the price and PIONEER custumer service and tech support sure are bad, rude and a bunch of @#!##$%%^^^^&$##@.

Summary: I just purchased an avic-z2 and installed it in my car. Overall I am very impressed and think its a great navigation. All functions are laid out well and I extremely impressed with its ipod functionality. Was cleanly installed, but I know the installation was complicated for the installers because they were constantly researching wiring on unit in perspective to my car, but over all its awesome.

The hardest part is installing the unit into you vehicle speed sensor and reverse light. If this is done incorrectly the navigation will not function properly. Also if you do not ground the right wires in the right places other problems can arise.

I hacked my unit along with a very experienced friend of mine who does installations for a living. Everything works as it should. The features on this unit are MY only complaint is the UI--it is ugly.

Summary: I think that this is one of, if not the best product out there so far. There is so much to tinker with and learn that you really need to be a tech fanatic to enjoy ALL of the functions. You have to go online and learn how to bypass the system to get the full potential. Apple and Pioneer both need to do some work with upkeep to make full compatibility with the new IPhone G3. It works just using the ipod, but doesn't charge the Iphone. And I haven't been able to download songs from the Iphone to the AVIC-Z2 yet. You can find the AVIC-Z2 cheaper online, but watch what you are buying so it isn't a reman unit, and make sure you get the Bluetooth phone package as your phone calls sound perfect, as well as the remote for your steering wheel. XM nav traffic so far is not very helpful. They have been too slow on their traffic reports. The Back-Up Camera is fun but I already have sensors in my bumpers so that was a waste of 400.00 dollars. Although I did install an extra switch on the dash to be able to look out the back camera while driving forward.

Summary: Need I say more? And for the price? Ugh!This GPS took me out to the boonies when trying to find a ski area (I knew where it was, wanted to see where the unit would take me). I was in the middle of nowhere and from the unit "you have arrived at your destination". I don't think so.
I have over 4000 songs on my iPod - there is NO WAY TO SEARCH alphabetically. So if you want to listen to Ozzie or The Who, forget it.
And the bluetooth does not work well with my Blackberry 8830.
And, the overall unit is SLOW. Scrolling the iPod artists list takes forever.
I'm looking to replace this ASAP.
