The good: Tons of features; fast with 4x6 prints; USB port can be used to connect PictBridge devices, as well as flash drives, hard drives, and even USB CD/DVD burners for printing or transferring images; reasonable per-print costs; large LCD with lots of viewing options; easy to use.
The bad: Disappointing print quality.
The bottom line: The Epson PictureMate Dash printer is impressive in every way except for print quality.

Amazing Color and Quality
by njalex1 on January 12, 2008

Summary: I cannot believe CNET's reviewer criticized the print quality of this printer. After researching compact photo printers for the past few months, I decided to go with the Dash based on an in-store demo of picture quality.
I must say that this is the best new gadget I have purchased in a long time and is a great new companion to my new Nikon D40 camera.
The print quality I have been getting from this compact unit is better than most labs and stores...and is truluy amazing. The replacement ink and paper (150 Sheets and Enough ink to print on all) runs about $34 or approx $.23 per print. Epson also guarantees that the ink cartridge will last the entire run of total sheets included in the pack.
I highly recommend this printer to anyone looking to run off amazing prints at home without having to run back and forth to the store.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

My pics (both color and b&w) are as good as
my commercial pics from my local store. Will
move up to bigger format but will alway have
the Dash for quick prints. I too plan on
getting the battery.... nice touch.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I bought the HP Photosmart A626 because the PC magazine reviews rated it high but needless to say I returned it because the print quality was terrible. The pictures were nowhere near true to color so I exchanged my printer for the Epson Picturemate Dash PM260 and I must say I love it! I compared the prints to the HP and the Epson's were brighter, more vibrant, sharper and truer to the original color than the HP. I highly recommend this printer!!

Summary: I'm an epson girl by history but this printer really is awesome. Very "lunchbox" in appearance. Love the speed that it prints and that the pics come out so great. I had to buy an adapter bc I use memory stick pro duo. I also plan to but the battery so I can take this to my scrapbooking crops. It's a very reasonable price for the printer and refills. I'm glad I waited to get the dash instead of the snap bc the bigger the viewing screen the better.

This printer is Junk!
by ITguy4fun on February 24, 2011
Pros: Reasonably priced supplies and adequate picture quality for the ordinary user.

Summary: I bought this printer for light occasional use. I've printed 60 pictures and didn't even come close to using up the 200 printer pack I bought with it in a 20 month span and the paper feed has failed. I contacted Epson for some assistance with the repairs and they refused to consider assistance for the product beyond the twelve month warranty. Unbelievable!

High quality prints, but expensive. Ink dries out fast!
by mpqtpie on October 6, 2010
Pros: Superb vivid print quality, Very easy to use, Very portable & small footprint, Reads USB, memory cards or your computer
Cons: Printer ink dries out fast. If you set it aside for a few days & use it later, there will be streaking & lines.
It's expensive! You can buy prints for less at drugstores or the internet. You must buy the pack, so can't save by using cheaper papeSummary: If you are looking for an easy to use photo printer with high quality prints, this is the best on the market! However, it's not great for the casual ...
Summary: If you are looking for an easy to use photo printer with high quality prints, this is the best on the market! However, it's not great for the casual user. The ink dries out fast so unless you print regularly, you will not get your money's worth, since you will have to run through several prints to get the ink flowing again. The kits are effortless, but they are also expensive. About 30 cents a print. Go to any drugstore and you can buy them for cheaper, and you don't have to pay for the cost of the printer. The size of this printer can be a bit limiting (only 4x6) and I don't like that you must use a specific kit either.
It's one of the best photo printers available for the everyday person, but then again, why do you need a photo printer?? Just take a USB to any drugstore and print your prints there! If you're a more serious photographer, you're going to want to have the flexibility of larger prints, and using different types of paper. -
Not worth the money
by akldsjhasiudf on August 8, 2009
Pros: Fast printing
Cons: Ink does not last more than a few picts, if you don't use it right away.
I think the ink dries too easily.
The operating cost is too high to print just 4x6 picts.
Better to buy a regular printer & use a continuous ink system.Summary: Do not buy this printer.
It does not work as advertised, because the ink dries out too fast.
The operating cost is too high, compared to alternatives.Summary: Do not buy this printer.

Cons: Skews the photo . Faces look long and skinny. Starting to **** me off prints are like .30 a pop
Summary: wait for the next printer to come out look to see if it skews the pictures.

expensive prints, poor print quality, poor tech service
by jjjjjjjjjj44444444444444 on December 16, 2009
Pros: Nothing. Save yourself the trouble and stay away from this company. Very poor customer service. We dread it every time we have to call them.
Cons: Don't get very many prints out of each print pack. Cost per print is over $1 each, not 30-40 cents.
Customer service agents are very rude.
Poor print quality. We can't get rid of the lines all over our prints.
Can't feed more than 1 sheet at a time.Summary: Save yourself some trouble and stay away from this company. We are so sick of them and their rude customer service. Print packs don't even last for half the ...
Summary: Save yourself some trouble and stay away from this company. We are so sick of them and their rude customer service. Print packs don't even last for half the time they are supposed to. We are only getting about 30 to 40 prints out of a "100" print pack. Prints always have thin pink lines on them. Multiple sheets of paper won't feed.
We emailed and called customer service. If you can understand their accent, they are generally very rude and grouchy. We requested a refund of our money and instead received a replacement printer with all the same problems. No new warranty on the new printer, either. We are apparently stuck with this piece of crap because they refuse to refund our money.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
