WORST Epson printer ever!!!
by jeffrey9--2008 on February 8, 2009
Pros: I own 4 Epson printers and there is not one good thing to say about this printer.
Cons: The first printer was dead out of the box and Epson sent a replacement.
The replacement printer is so loud and shakes so much I cannot have it on my desk or talk on the phone. The head needs to be realigned and the inks recharged at every use.Summary: I picked up the Workforce 30 to replace my Epson 880 and have to say it is the worst printer in my 26 years of using inkjet printers. Summary: I picked up the Workforce 30 to replace my Epson 880 and have to say it is the worst printer in my 26 years of using inkjet printers. It's such a piece of junk Epson didn't even want it back, they just sent me another one. This speaks to the poor quality of this printer that they want me to recycle their defective printer. I thought it would be a good thing because I get a second set of ink cartridges but later found out 3 of them were defective and wouldn't work in the new printer. I use more ink realigning the heads and charging the inks than I do printing. Additionally I waste lots of paper waiting for a decent print. If they were giving this printer away I would not want it and I caution anyone else not to waste your money.

HORRID, PUTRID MINUS
by marcopostal on February 28, 2011
Pros: Not one thing good about this piece of garbage except for the fact that it is no longer on my desk!!
Cons: Eats ink like it's water. Epson clearly designed this printer to rob you blind on ink replacements. No more...the piece of junk just went sailing off my balcony...good riddance!!
Summary: Arguably the worst printer ever made. Epson=junk!!

Summary: was good for a few months before it wanted black ink. drop 30 bux on black ink. installed it, it only prints in color. Ink levels show full for black ink. Ok so i follow the troubleshooting, it says clean the head. I try to clean the head, it wont let me because now it says the Cyan is low. no way im putting another 30 bux into it for cyan ink when i only want to print black. spent hours and i dunno how many sheets of paper trying to fix this piece of junk.

Don't waste your money!
by TradinTiger on August 8, 2009
Pros: Print quality is decent while the cartridges last. That may be as few as a dozen full-page color photos!!!
Cons: A new set of chipped OEM cartridges costs as much as the printer. Non-OEM chipped cartridges rarely work. Re-settable, re-fillable chipped cartridges may work but they cost more than the printer. Any way, you lose.
Summary: The big deal with this printer is the cost of OEM ink. You can risk more than the cost of the printer on expensive self-resetting chipped replacement cartridges, or on ...
Summary: The big deal with this printer is the cost of OEM ink. You can risk more than the cost of the printer on expensive self-resetting chipped replacement cartridges, or on an aftermarket CIS (continuous inking system) and either of these may or may not be able to spoof the OEM chipped cartridge identification system on this printer. If you plan to print more than 3 color PPY (pages per year) with this printer, save your money. If you plan to print fewer than 3 PPY with this printer, save your money anyway: One or two print head cleanings will deplete a $75.00 OEM cartridge set! Yikes!

A disgraceful product, a waste of money, and a rip-off
by TheLoaf on May 30, 2009
Pros: It is quick, but then just about everything sold is pretty quick these days
Cons: Junk. Paper feed is as clumsy as a 50 year old virgin, it will not let you use aftermarket ink products and goes through ink like a 50 year old virgin goes through Kleenex. Compatible cartridges are perfect physical match, rejected electronically!!
Summary: A rip off. Epsom is selling ink with this piece of absolute junk. Stay far, far away from this awful product. Or buy it and participate in the class-actin suit ...
Summary: A rip off. Epsom is selling ink with this piece of absolute junk. Stay far, far away from this awful product. Or buy it and participate in the class-actin suit that is sure to follow for anti-trust violations ("buy our ink or we won't let the product work").
How bad is it? It'll print the color cartridges with the black ones empty...but replace a black one with an aftermarket product and it won't print anything. -
Inexpensive printer, migration from Epson Cxx series
by ClydeDodge on March 25, 2009
Pros: This the lowest end ink jet printer now available from Epson. The ink comes in five cartidges: 2 black, one each of yellow, magenta and cyan (Epson #69, or high capacity #68). Print quality is adjustable in five levels from draft to best photo.
Cons: The higher speed text mode might as well be the draft mode; text comes out offset with breaks in the alignment. Set the default quality to text and image. The increase in ppm was not worth the sacrifice in text quality.
Summary: If you are a devotee of Epson ink jet printers, this is an inexpensive migration from the Cxx series. The print options available are similar to the Cxx series. Instead ...
Summary: If you are a devotee of Epson ink jet printers, this is an inexpensive migration from the Cxx series. The print options available are similar to the Cxx series. Instead of the curved body of the Cxx series the Workforce 30 has a box shape. Paper feeds from the top. The paper feed is too vertical, though; standard weight paper tends to fall over and lie on top of the printer.
The print quality options include draft, text, text and image, photo, and best photo. The text quality is much higher speed ppm than on the Cxx seires, but to no fgood effect. The paper is pulled through the printer too fast, and the text that results is often broken in alignment in the middle of a line, as thought the paper shifted in sideways during printing. For satisfactory print quality, you need to set the default print quality to "text and image".
The ink comes in five cartidges: two black, and one each of yellow, magenta, and cyan. The printer accept the Epson 69 ink (regular supply) and 68 (high capacity supply). In the Cxx series you could only get high capacity black ink, so having all 4 ink available in high capacity is an imnprovement. The ink cartidges are the same width, however. So, how do they acheive high capacity? Maybe the 69 cartidges are only half full? Also, why two black cartidges? All these inks are the DuraBrite Ultra brand from Epson.
Various grades of paper are supported, from plain paer up to premium glossy. Bordreless printing of photos is supported wen using higher quality glossy. semi-gloss, or matte. Envelope printing is also supported.
Maintenance options allow nozzle cleaning and alignment. (Perhaps the problems with text printing alignment can be corrected, but in my opinion the printer out to work properly out of the box.)0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
