The good: Easy to use; media card slots; built-in networking.
The bad: Uses tricolor cartridges instead of individual ink tanks; prints are not water resistant; slow; big, even for a medium-format model.
The bottom line: This is a decent printer for the photo enthusiast or scrapbooker who wants the amenities of a consumer printer in the size of a medium-format model.

Summary: This printer has a very unfair average rating of 4.4 so far and it really deserves a much higher rating. I have a feeling that the people that rated it poorly would have a problem with just about any printer! I can't find any fault with this printer other than it eats ink... the printer is also often deeply discounted at Staples office supply, so check there too!
Updated
I haven't read the other reviews yet... but I have to say this is one of the best printers I've ever owned... it is reasonably fast, especially considering the quality and it is simple to use. The best feature is the hassle-free networkability. I don't think you can go too wrong with this printer if you're an advanced hobbyist, although if you only print 4x6 I'd probably stay away. -
Run Far Away From This Printer

Summary: This printer is about the worst thing I've encountered. A simple text page prints at a slight angle and the bottom 3/4 inch angles even more badly banding and smearing the bottom of the page. I tried a borderless print and the print stopped being ejected with 1/14 inches of paper still under the roller. When I pulled it out by hand, it smeared and showed deep roller marks. HP gave me a bunch of things to try. mechanical and software wise. After quite a bit of time and much wasted ink, nothing has improved. It's obvious that this printer has severe roller design problems as another reviewer noticed similar items. So now this monster printer will have to be packed up and returned for another one. Buy anything else, but don't buy this printer. You're just asking for trouble.
Updated
Okay. Since I wrote that bad review, I've received a replacement printer from HP. Their customer service turned things around very quickly. Although packing up the first printer and replacing it was a pain in the neck, the replacement is working like a charm. Photo quality is exceptional, and this unit is much quieter than the first, which had obvious mechanical problems. Since I gave them such a bad review the first time, it's only fair to tell you they did react quickly and the second printer is great. -
Very poor quality

Summary: New, out of the box printer wouldn't load the gray cartridge correctly. 1 hour w HP help desk. Two days later, new cartridge shows up. Still doesn't work. Another hour w HP on the phone. They agree to send another printer. New printer gets here two days later. Problems with printer carriage. Another hour with HP. They agree to send printer #3. Printer #3 arrives. Appears to print. Try it again next day. Doesn't work. Printer carriage will not seat against ink cartridges. Ink dries out. Call HP again for another hour. They send printer #4. Prints 8 large (B-sized) photos. Picture 9 has problems. Now looks as if the roller gets stuck near the end of printing and puts a ligher colored line across the length of the right side of the photo. Clean cartridges. No luck, same line. It's also putting creases in the large format paper as it prints as well. Time use this thing as a large doorstop and buy an Epson. I estimate this has cost me at least 10 hours of my time and I still don't have a working printer. Good thing the help desk calls are toll-free. One last thing, if they do send you a replacement printer, it's not a brand now one--it's a refurbished model packaged to look new. You're getting previously damaged goods they claimed to have fixed.
