  Summary: I am a professional photographer and was excited to receive the printer (which my gf purchased as a surprise gift/investment for my biz - I personally would have chosen Epson). First, the print quality is actually quite good - vibrant colors and accurate tones (but NOT on color portraits!). The downside - ink cartridges ran low VERY QUICKLY; ink ran at end of prints - streaks and smears which is UNACCEPTABLE; when paper was fed from the upper tray a corner would get a nasty nick which I could not sell to clients (feeding from the rear tray resolved this but is very inconvenient since sheets then have to be fed one at a time); skin tones on color portraits never were 100% accurate despite adjustments on Photoshop or Photosmart specs in order to compensate; poor communication between printer and my desktop (HP Media Center m7260n), for ex., printer jobs could not be completed due to 'printer out of paper' when it was not out of paper, leading to lengthy and disruptive attempts to reset the printer job; installation software was A DISASTER (spent 45-60 min on phone w/tech support and got it resolved); due to numerous problems w/printer HP sent a replacement printer which NEVER INSTALLED (literally spent 6+ hrs on phone w/tech support with 4 different reps to try and install the replacement and despite downloaded patches and install software from their website it NEVER installed - tech support admitted it exhausted ALL troubleshooting options and could do nothing else THEN they tried to blame our (HP) desktop which, if true, then how did the first printer finally get installed???). Reps were friendly but ultimately useless and at one point my call was escalated to a tech support 'supervisor' who admitted that he did not have a tech support background and transferred me back to the rep who laughed incredulously at what he heard the 'supervisor' say (it was a 3-way conference call). In the end I spoke with a case manager but HP's PHONE SYSTEM WAS HAVING TECH DIFFICULTIES AND WE COULD NOT COMMUNICATE!!!! REALLY PATHETIC! End of story - we have 2 8750's sitting in our office waiting to be sent back; we're going with Epson. BUYER BEWARE: DON'T GO WITH HP! (but this is only MY experience - you have to have your own experience which may be completely different). I believe I am an intelligent, objective individual and I hold no grudge - just reporting the facts.

  Great photo printer

  Summary: I replaced my HP 1220c with the 8750 because the 1220c failed after 3 years of great prints. Although I really liked the 1220c, I decided to spend money on newer technology instead of getting it fixed. Like the 1220c, the print heads are built right in to the cartridge. The result is virtual trouble-free print head errors over the life of the printer. Unfortunately, the ink tanks are only a fraction of the size of those on the 1220c and cost about the same. I?ve docked the overall score 2 points for that characteristic alone. The tiny tanks are neither suitable in a professional setting or for a home user who likes to print a lot. The redeeming factor is that the ink is archival quality.
  
  Prints made from photos taken by my Minolta Dimage 8 mega pixel camera turned out beautifully on the 13x19 satin paper. In my opinion it is indiscernible from film processed in a quality lab. Although I was happy with the 1220c, the 8750 is a remarkable improvement in terms of print quality (especially subtle shades of gray and in B&W) and has a much more robust print driver. The Photoshop settings I previously set for the 1220c worked perfectly with the driver and required no adjustments. I highly recommend this printer for the avid amateur who wants bigger prints.

  Summary: When you print borderless photos, the driver stretches your work disproportionately (stretched 115% or so lengthwise, and 105% or so in width) and incrementally (as in, it repeats every 10th line or so). Therefore, the last half inch of your 8.5x11 will be cut off, and the last inch of your 11x17. If you have long diagonal lines in your artwork, they will print out jagged. This only occurs on borderless prints, whether I print from InDesign, Acrobat, or the HP ImageZone software that comes with the printer. If you don't use a borderless setting everything looks great. I thought it was a hardware feed problem and returned the first printer, but the 2nd one does the same thing. Looks like it is a driver problem.

  Summary: I can not get this printer to print a borderless 8.5 x 11 document. It cuts off the bottom and the right side every time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. I have tried every single setting to no avail. I have made the documents smaller to try and fix this, but it just adds a margin to the top and cuts off the bottom. If anyone can help me, please post a reply. Please?!

  Summary: We purchased one a week ago at a local retailer. It was defective but since it was the last one, we decided to use warranty replacement. To keep it short, the tech support was a frustrating waste of time and the replacement has been delayed 3 times. We purchased an extended warranty to get next day shipping but it was sent ground anyway. When we complained, they are sending another via overnight. So 2 printers are on the way via FedEx. I have wasted at least 6 hours on the phone and 2 days home waiting for the delivery. When escalated to 2nd level supervisor, she only offered a pack of photo paper for our inconvenience. The only thing that seem to matter was which internal process was broken and who broke it.

  The printer that arrived under warranty replacement seems to be working just fine. I haven't had time to put it through it's paces just yet.

  It is a little large-- but it produces very large prints. The little lcd on top could be brighter and more useful. But if you calibrate your monitor, and tweak the printer driver a hair, the prints come out absolutely as you see them on screen. As someone said, it's a "darkroom in a box." (Maybe it's not perfect enough to give it a 10, but the "1" ratings above are so unfair.)

  Summary: I've been a photographer and printer since the early '60s, everything from pure zone system stuff to hard news and pushed Ektachrome. This printer is providing the best results I've ever gotten.
  Now, I'm using it to print on hand-made paper and make enlarged negatives for Van **** contact prints; it has done everything I have asked of it.
  My Epson sits in the garage; the head clogging, metamerism, and sorry tech support are a paragon of poor product.

  I was delighted with my HP 8750 when I used it with my last PC, equipped with Windows XP Pro. But that motherboard crashed in the middle of preparing two exhibits, and in desperation I bought an HP---which to my dismay I could get only with Windows Vista.
  Everything since then has been an expensive, terribly frustrating and embarrassing disaster.
  
  An HP tech support person told me in early October that there is no full driver for this printer with Vista, and that I should just go back to using XP Professional. She told me their engineers are working on drivers and that they hoped to have one by the end of last month. But they don't.
  
  This is absolutely outrageous, irresponsible behavior on HP's part. Dell has reintroduced the XP option on their machines, and I understand they have software available to revert Vista computers to XP. Would that HP were as responsible---but that might affect upper management's quarterly bonuses.
  
  Never will I buy another HP product.

  I originally rated this printer very highly, but that was before I had to "upgrade" to Vista. HP failed to write a workable driver for almost a year, and the printer has never recovered. It cost me inexpressible anguish as it wasted SO much expensive toner and paper (there are few things in human/silicon history more frustrating than watching this thing refuse to print a photo, but run the paper through anyhow, having printed 6 letters on it).
  HP denied the problems until they proclaimed that they'd finally written a driver, of course. WHY on earth, with practices like that, do they think anyone would ever trust them or patronize them ever again?
  And through it all, they have continued spamming me, trying to sell me more material to waste. Yeah, right.
  This has been a wretched exercise in expensive frustration. Previous to this, I wasted time and material trying to use an almost-equally frustrating Epson. Next step remains to be seen, I need to print, but not to feel like a fool.

  Summary: This printer has a very unfair average rating of 4.4 so far and it really deserves a much higher rating. I have a feeling that the people that rated it poorly would have a problem with just about any printer! I can't find any fault with this printer other than it eats ink... the printer is also often deeply discounted at Staples office supply, so check there too!

  I haven't read the other reviews yet... but I have to say this is one of the best printers I've ever owned... it is reasonably fast, especially considering the quality and it is simple to use. The best feature is the hassle-free networkability. I don't think you can go too wrong with this printer if you're an advanced hobbyist, although if you only print 4x6 I'd probably stay away.

  Summary: This printer is about the worst thing I've encountered. A simple text page prints at a slight angle and the bottom 3/4 inch angles even more badly banding and smearing the bottom of the page. I tried a borderless print and the print stopped being ejected with 1/14 inches of paper still under the roller. When I pulled it out by hand, it smeared and showed deep roller marks. HP gave me a bunch of things to try. mechanical and software wise. After quite a bit of time and much wasted ink, nothing has improved. It's obvious that this printer has severe roller design problems as another reviewer noticed similar items. So now this monster printer will have to be packed up and returned for another one. Buy anything else, but don't buy this printer. You're just asking for trouble.

  Okay. Since I wrote that bad review, I've received a replacement printer from HP. Their customer service turned things around very quickly. Although packing up the first printer and replacing it was a pain in the neck, the replacement is working like a charm. Photo quality is exceptional, and this unit is much quieter than the first, which had obvious mechanical problems. Since I gave them such a bad review the first time, it's only fair to tell you they did react quickly and the second printer is great.
