The good: The Seagate Barracuda XT hard drive supports SATA 6Gbps and offers fast performance and a capacity of up to 3TB. The drive is quiet and affordable and its 3TB version supports Windows XP well.
The bad: The Seagate Barracuda runs rather hot.
The bottom line: Storage-hungry users, especially tech-savvy ones, will find the Seagate Barracuda XT a great balance of storage space, backward compatibility, and speedy performance.

Extremely fast, very quiet 7,200 rpm 2TB drive.

Pros: I compared performance as a boot drive in an 8-core Xeon Mac Pro (SATA-300, not SATA 600) and it beat the other 2 TB, 7,200 RPM drives from Hitachi and WD Caviar Black. Quieter than either of those as well, especially the very noise Hitachi.
Cons: None so far.

DONT BUY ANY SEAGATE PRODUCTS.

Pros: BOUGHT A 2T SEAGATE UNIT A YEAR AGO. STARTED CLICKING, CALLED TECH SUPPORT WHO SAID SEND IT BACK IN AND WELL REPLACE IT. SEAGATE REPLACED IT WITH A DIFFERENT UNIT THAT HAD BEEN REFURBISHED. WOULD ANYONE LOAD ALL OF THEIR MOST PRECIOUS STUFF ONTO A REFURBI
