The good: Norton 360 v2 includes more native support for the Firefox browser; enhanced backup options; enhanced PC Tune Up; works great on clean, new machines running Windows Vista.
The bad: Norton 360 v2 can be hard to install on legacy machines; places a gadget in Windows Vista without asking; requires personal information for access to a technical support section that can be confusing; costly to use.
The bottom line: A near-perfect all-in-one solution for brand new PCs, Norton 360 v2 may be hard to install and run on legacy machines. However, don't count on Symantec's time-consuming and expensive technical support for help.

Buy it, & after it fails they ask for more $$ to fix it
by jonobo on July 28, 2009
Pros: VERY unhappy with this. I paid for the product, kept it updated and still it allowed a VERY nasty virus through (had to format my drive in the end). While chatting with tech support they informed me they COULD fix it, but it would cost me more money.
Cons: The charges on my credit card went through in a timely manner.
Summary: Avoid like the plague.

not a winner
by johnjohnson1957 on May 14, 2009
Pros: Originally I could not think of anything good to say about this product except that the Norton Removal tool (you have to download it) sure seemed to work
Cons: does not work, won't install properly and can't get the damned thing to uninstall (had to get the Norton removal tool down load from web).
Summary: This product just does not work; It installed with minor problems on computer #1 but after that it has been a hopeless pain in the ass and won't install ...
Summary: This product just does not work; It installed with minor problems on computer #1 but after that it has been a hopeless pain in the ass and won't install on computer #2. Worse you can't get the damned thing to uninstall. Finally I downloaded the Norton removal tool from web (here is a novel idea; put the removal toolon the disc) and am now in the process of killing it. The thing that really pisses me off is when I turn of the firewall to allow me to hook the computer to my network and tell it not to restart until I tell it to. Then, son of a *****, if it doesn't just turn around and turn itself back on.
*** is wrong with corporate America. We used to make things that worked, now everyone is trying to get using the model Microsoft has been using; sell junk and make the customer figure out what is wrong and fix it. Well that's it for me; Norton joins the list of products I will no longer buy. Based upon the reviews Norton 360 V1 got I made the mistake of thinking Norton had a hit on their hands. Enough is enough. On the bright side the Norton removal tool worked like a charm. Once my computer reboots I find out if it did any damage to anything other than the Norton products. -
NOTHING BUT GARBADGE.
by block800 on April 24, 2009
Pros: I strictly do not have anything positive to say about NOrton Products.
Cons: It will mess with your firewall, you computer security, SLOW DOWN your machine even when you uninstall it. Too many services running in the background, very time consuming to install and uninstall.
Summary: I will never install or recommend it. Matter of fact, I will highly recommend against it. STAY AWAY FROM NORTON PRODUCT. I hope they shutdown soon for all the bad ...

Good in Theory bad in practice
by Ibanwayne on April 9, 2009
Pros: Mostly all in one solution
Cons: Heavy on resources, cannot pause a auto scan when you need your resourses, On my 3 computers none would auto uptate even though it was turned on. Chat tech just ensured me that it was updating but it was not.
Still needed other spyware programs.Summary: All in all very dissapointing from a big name product for the above cons.

Excellent all in one security suite.
by gam8547s on April 3, 2009
Pros: Very easy to use, installation was simple, setup was straightforward. Excellent product.
Cons: Automatic backups. I didn't like the default for the backup setting, easy to change once I noticed it though.

Norton 360 2.0 is dangerous!
by Notewriter on March 16, 2009
Pros: When it works, it works.
Cons: Given how unpredictable it is, there's no tellin' when it's working!!

Summary: I purchased this product, the disk, as an upgrade to the previous version which expired. Having the disk, I thought installation would be easy. I was wrong. I'm not new to installing software, but I had terrible issues with this installation. Despite inputting the newer product key several times, it continually asked for it, only to repeatedly access/recognize the older code. I tried, many times, to install the new version, in several ways and it just wouldnt work. Finally, I called Norton customer service to request assistance, and they were absolutely NO HELP! I dont know if the reps didnt understand the language, the product, my problem or simply chose to ignore me. The last rep I spoke to got remote access to my computer, then downloaded the software onto it but after "having to" disconnect me so that I could reboot he never called back, or made himself available for my callback, so I had to start all over again with another rep!! (I was on a phone line, we could have continued talking despite his remote access being disconnected--so that he could continue fixing my problem) That next attempt was just as futile, so I tried both my disk and the download several more times (over the next few weeks) with no luck! I finally gave up, since the downloaded version I got didnt seem to be the updated version I purchased. I used another computer for several months, then attempted several more times, finally having success. Since then, from time to time, I have had to access "My Account" and activate the product AGAIN, because I have received a notice that assures me that I am without protection of some sort! Additionally, I keep getting the notice that my subscription is expiring soon and I have to re-purchase (it doesnt expire until Oct 2009). Most recently, my Phishing Protection has expired! I dont know why, and frankly, I dont have the energy to review the information on the box/website. I dont think the phishing protection is supposed to expire before the subscription period. This is enuf to drive me to drink!! The unpredictability/unreliability of this program and the support staff makes it really unsafe to use. If the notices should be taken seriously, then this product is really unstable. If the notices are in error, then what the....? I remember when Norton was a premium company, with a premium product. I am truly disappointed, terribly frustrated!!!...and $80 later, possibly unprotected!!

Impossible to install on Windows Vista Business
by a5-consulting on March 7, 2009
Pros: Confidence in prior products
Cons: Leaves computer vulnerable while wasting tens of hours trying to install-ininstall-reinstall-uninstall... And Symantec technical support was a waste of two hours.
Summary: I had a terrible experience trying to move from the trial version to the purchased version. I wasted about 12 consulting hours trying to fix this junk. They did refund ...

It works fine
by RJXXX on March 1, 2009

Summary: I've been using this software since i had to extend my subscription in the beginning of the year (before i had the 2007 version if i remember correctly), and I havent had any issues since then... Recently (yesterday) I reinstalled Windows on my machine (core 2 duo e6550, 2 gb ram, 9600 gt), and I didnt have to go through a lot of difficulties reinstalling the product, I already had it downloaded (and saved in a dvd with some drivers), so I just double clicked it and I checked dont look for actualizations, which ended happening when it analyzed the computer for the first time (i told it to do it), before installing... It took me less than 20 minutes (the computer only had 20 gb of information) analyzing and installing, I also installed the add-on, and again i didnt have any trouble...
Configuring the firewall wasnt a big deal at all, internet was already working since windows vista recognized as soon as i entered the first time, so i just had to click on the network and then i clicked "thrust it"... I configured it to tell me every time a program wants to connect to the internet, which was as simple as unchecking a box on the configuration, and it hasnt failed, only the programs i want can enter to the internet and only the persons in my network i want can see my computer, u "restrict" a computer and thats all, he/she cant see u at all...
It only has stopped working once... when the service "stopped", how i fixed it ? I just restarted the program by double clicking the icon on my desktop, and there it was working fine again... Another solution would been to shutdown to computer and start it again, but I didnt need to do it...
Also I'm a gamer my self , and i have to say it works the same way, having it on or off... I tested it, i went to "msconfig", I checked the only load windows stuff option, and the performance of my machine didn't chance at all... The program runs consuming only 10 mb of my computers memory(ccproxy.exe+ccsvchst.exe+ccsvchst.exe)...
It has blocked a portscan once, a lot of tracking-cookies and some trojan horses... And I dont remember any viruses infecting my computer, except the ones in my pendrive which i take to a lot of computers (where it gets the viruses), the program didnt succesfully removed the virus , but it blocked it, allowing me to recover the data, and formating the pendrive, which has the end of that virus...
I was looking for reviews of this program, since i was beginning to worry because i havent had any trouble, I was looking to find a hole in the security or something, but i see now that I can continue to use without any worries based on my experience so far... (and if i get to have a trouble with some spyware, i can always use windows defender...)
Also let me apologize for my english because my first language is spanish... and my software is also in spanish... -
livupdate stopped working three months ago
by alexwe on February 25, 2009
Pros: Nothing at this time.
Cons: Live update will not work. The techs say they know about the problem but evidently they don't have a solution other than to do manual updates. This is ridiculous.

Jammed Me Up - Took an Exorcism to Remove It
by nstonerocks on February 16, 2009
Pros: Easy install on XP. Seemed to have all the bells and whistles. Things seemed a bit slow, but ok for a while until I couldn't access internet. Then the fun began.
Cons: Couldn't get on internet. Linksys said it was probably the Norton.Couldn't open it, disable it, or remove it. Downloaded the Norton uninstaller from another laptop. Took 40 minutes -- still there. Finally a tech guy used an uninstaller that worked.
Summary: Acted like malware. Possessed my system, couldn't remove it. What's to like?
