Sleek & great keystrokes.
by sdbrian17 on October 17, 2009
Pros: Very thin, smooth & quiet keystrokes, and great range. Batteries are simple AA and have lasted a month thus far.
Cons: Initial setup was an issue. No keyboard power button or indicator.

Summary: I love how thin the keyboard is, the keystrokes are smooth and quiet, and I use it around a corner from my computer (and usb rec'r) and it works great. Out of the box it worked, then a few days later it did not. Removing and putting the batteries back in was the only way to get it to awaken from what seemed like a sleep mode. Multiple install and uninstalls of the previous keyboard driver didn't seem to work. Then a few days later it started working flawlessly. Since that point I have loved this keyboard and would highly recommend it.

Disagree with previous reviews. Great keyboard!
by kateinmo on June 24, 2009
Pros: I have repetitive stress injury, and this keyboard is kinder to my hands, arms and back than any other I have used. It takes very little pressure on the keys to type. With the legs at the back, the slope is perfect for me.
Cons: No caps lock and number lock lights? Good grief, that's archaic.

Summary: This keyboard is perfect for people with disabilities such as carpal tunnel and repetitive stress injury. It is very flat, with legs at the rear to raise the keyboard to 1 inch in the back. The angle is perfect for me. It takes very little pressure of the fingers to type -- a huge bonus for me. My husband appreciates the silence of the keyboard; he hated the clacking of all my previous keyboards. He says my typing on this one sounds like a soft rain. I frequently type notes when I'm talking to people on the telephone. So far, in three months, no one has commented that they hear me typing. My only two wishes to make this keyboard perfect: move the number pad to the left side of the keyboard and put caps lock and number lock lights on the keyboard. We picked up this keyboard at WalMart for $19 -- a great buy!

I love this keyboard!
by quixrick on January 29, 2013
Pros: This keyboard has a great feel to it. It is slim and works very well wirelessly.
Cons: For traveling or commuting, the keyboard is not that durable and there is no "Off" switch. Unless you pull the batteries out every time you put it in your laptop bag, it will eat batteries.
Summary: As many of the reviewers have said already, this keyboard is fantastic. It feels great. The keys are a good size and the Home/End/Delete keys are in a ...
Summary: As many of the reviewers have said already, this keyboard is fantastic. It feels great. The keys are a good size and the Home/End/Delete keys are in a nice arrangement for programming.
The blue light is pretty bright, but has never bothered me. I guess if it does you can put electrical tape around it like one of the other reviewers did.
The only reason I did not give this keyboard 5-stars is that I commute to work each day on the train and it eats my batteries like crazy since there is no "off" switch. So in my laptop bag, it gets other stuff pressed up against it and they continually push the keys on my keyboard. This makes my batteries last from 1-2 weeks before I have to replace them. Another thing is that you have to be delicate when traveling with this. With my first keyboard, several of the keys ended up falling off from the keyboard being knocked about. Granted, I was a little more harsh on it than most users would be, but I'll say this: after it broke, I went right out and bought this exact same keyboard.
- I would rate this keyboard at 5-stars if you leave this keyboard at your desk all of the time.
- I would rate this keyboard at 3-stars if you travel frequently.
That is where my 4-star rating comes from.
I would definitely buy this keyboard again. -
A keyboard for professionals
by Ozzoid on December 3, 2010
Pros: Solid build, high-quality feel, quiet, clear design, excellent key response, small footprint, volume control, well-placed large 'Delete' key
Cons: Transmitter flashes bright blue with every keystroke - paint it, black...
Some users would prefer to get an additional palm rest - there is just the bottom edge.

Summary: After trying a lot of MS and Logitech keyboards in various shops I came across this HP keyboard which came with an HP desktop system. The sales guy told me 'it is only sold with a unit' --- sure enough, the next computer shop sold it separately. Not the cheapest here (in Australia) but:
it beats all those blobby, plastic feeling or shiny Xmas-tree like keyboards by miles, and who needs a little light when one single look at the bottom of the screen shows if numeric/caps are on or off.
It feels like a BMW, solid, fast, minimalist but perfect and clear design, no reflections, small footprint... it's for professionals which may not be exactly typing artists or gamers but want a well-designed top quality keyboard to increase productivity.
Goes very well with my Sony F137... I am a database developer = lots of code/mouse use (however, I prefer to use my old MS laser mouse 6000 not the HP mouse) and its just a treat to hack along. The large 'Delete' button is also much better placed than usual.
I have been typing code and technical docs since 1972 and this keyboard is the best I have ever used. -
Outstanding keyboard and mouse with minor annoyances!
by mistywindow on August 19, 2010
Pros: Great for those who like laptop style keyboards.
Good value for the money.
Compares well with Apple aluminium keyboards.Cons: Piercing blue USB receiver light.
No indication of CAPS and NUM lock status.

Summary: After moving back to Windows from Macs I miss the beautiful Apple aluminium keyboard. This one fits the bill with laptop style short key travel, quiet keys, low profile and perfect key feedback. The mouse is great too: smooth movement, responsive, light, and and fits my hand nicely.
Very good value for money.
I'd have given the product 5 stars if it weren't for the inexplicable annoyances listed below.
1. As many have pointed out, the piercing blue LED light on the USB receiver which flashes every time a key is pressed or the mouse is moved is a total pest. If your computer setup allows you to hide the receiver from your view and from your next-door neighbour 2 houses away it's not a problem but not everyone can do that.
What were they thinking?
2. No indication on the keyboard, or the screen, to tell you whether or not CAPS lock or NUM lock are on. Not the end of the world but a nuisance at times.
3. Some F key functions are not usable unless you have an HP Touchsmart PC.
4. All the HP software is good for is to indicate the state of the batteries. Why not make the keys configurable?
Notwithstanding these gripes, it's an outstanding and inexpensive keyboard for those who prefer laptop style keys and for those who like Apple's aluminium keyboards. Nice no-frills mouse too. -
Probably the most conformable keyboard I've ever used.
by acm100 on June 3, 2010
Pros: It's sleek and full featured, only has a long range, IT'S GREAT!!!
Cons: There are no lights on the keyboard for num or caps lock but it's not a big deal because you just hit it again.
Summary: I would recommend this keyboard for anyone who wants one for a desktop or a laptop I's light so it works well on a desk and on your lap. ...

Amazing if you know what you're getting into.
by ArtemisCygnari on March 18, 2010
Pros: The keyboard is excellent under certain conditions only. You have to want a scissor switch keyboard with fast travel (2.5mm-3.0mm.,) be a touch typist who likes low profle keyboards, and you have to like matte finish keys without the rubber coating.
Cons: I only had a minor annoyance with the keyboard, and it's when you have the receiver plugged in it blink blue whenever you use the keyboard. I wrapped it in electrical tape though, and plugged it into the back of my case. "Problem" solved.
Summary: This keyboard is exactly what I was looking for. It's fast, has scissor switches, low profile, registers key presses with a light touch, and is small enough to not ...
Summary: This keyboard is exactly what I was looking for. It's fast, has scissor switches, low profile, registers key presses with a light touch, and is small enough to not clutter my desk. I find no fault with this keyboard, as it's perfect for my needs. Others may have issues with: no illuminated keys, not many media buttons, no display, no rubberized coating on the kys, very low profile, you have to use a light touch, etc. This keyboard can be had under $30, which makes it the best choice for touch typists seeking a 2.5mm-3.0mm key travel, and minimalist designs. If you have the money, looking into Das Keyboard or another mechanical switch keyboard, but for the price, the HP Wireless Elite is a great choice.

Sleek, exactly what I was looking for.... until...
by Durer on March 9, 2010
Pros: great design, short key travel is incredible, snappy, thin.
Cons: 1. For some reason fails to communicate with the usb receiver it came with. Battery indicator shows OK. i hit some key and receiver may respond like 10 seconds later, never seen anything like this. replaced batteries. same story.
Summary: 2. USB receiver blue light lights up on EVERY keystroke, this may either blind you or drive insane. Someone at dev dpt thought it would be a cool idea to ...
Summary: 2. USB receiver blue light lights up on EVERY keystroke, this may either blind you or drive insane. Someone at dev dpt thought it would be a cool idea to make clear case for it and put extremely bright giant bulb. dont these items pass usability and comfort test before they hit the shelves?

Wonderful design - problems with compatibility.
by selrays on December 30, 2009
Pros: I do really like the sleek design - typing papers is actually fun with this keyboard.
Cons: I started having problems with Windows responding to the keyboard. After spending more than the bottom-line price for a keyboard, I shouldn't have to restart my computer every once in a while just because my keyboard stopped functioning properly

started fine. after 3 months, began to lose keys
by carl brodyc on October 28, 2009
Pros: low profile, soft touch, wireless
Cons: once the keyboard began to fail, HP customer service was ultimately no help. Although 24/7 assistance is available, calling during normal US business hours may yield better results.
Summary: 1st red flag: attempt to register the keyboard online failed due to "invalid serial number."
After 3 months regular use, an increasing number of keys failed to register when struck. ...Summary: 1st red flag: attempt to register the keyboard online failed due to "invalid serial number."
After 3 months regular use, an increasing number of keys failed to register when struck. Contacted HP CS, and though I always spoke with someone, each subsequent call resulted in being told that some new action was required or some information had been lost and must be repeated.
In all, contacted HP 8 times between Oct 7 and Oct 28, plus 1 fax and 2 messages to seller.
At some point, it was clear I had spent too much time and did not expect a positive outcome, but I persisted to see what conclusion might occur.
At the end of an hour on the 8th call, I was asked to call again during US business hours. I acknowledged my frustration but managed to remain calm. Informed the manager that I was done, would make no further calls, would send no further faxes, would discard the product, and, would never buy another HP product again.
In the end, the keyboard was fine for a short time. The lowest rating available is less for the product and more for the horrendous HP dis-service.
If you buy it, and it fails - do not expect HP to help. Don't waste your time; just trash it.
