by dantheman1983 on April 11, 2011
Pros: Comfortable

Updated on Apr 13, 2011Summary: 2 stars until the mouse lag problem is fixed. 5 otherwise.
After having the issue with mouse lag I decided to move the bluetooth usb dongle from the rear usb to the USB on the front of my tower pointing twords the area I sit and use the keyboard and mouse the issue has gone away for several days now and hope it stays that way. Anyone else having this issue I would say do what I did or get a USB cable and move the USB BT Dongle to a better location. Another thing to try would be switching to the internal BT if your computer has it. I Give this combo 4 stars now that I got the problem fixed. I would give it 5 stars if it worked back in my bedroom as well.

Great Mouse, Above Average Keyboard

The mouse fits well in my hand. It is just very ergonomic. It has a nice scroll on it, although i know of higher end Logitech mice with better. I do not recall its number, but it has a continuous scroll, where you can either have the mouse scroll a while with one flick or a typical scroll...unfortunately not on this mouse. It also has a side scroll, where the scroll wheel tilts along with a battery monitor (turns on when low), zoom and search buttons next to the left button, and forward and back buttons on the thumb. However, at work i have a mouse with the forward and back on the side, but it is a cheap worthless mouse and they are too easy to accidentally press. These buttons rest above your thumb so it is hard to accidentally push.
Keyboard:
I love the keyboards feel, hard to explain but it sits well and is easy to type on. Somebody claimed of no num-locks button, which isnt true, at least on my version. However, i feel that the extensions that are put on the keyboard are sub-par. The multimedia keys work well in Windows, but not in Linux - should not be a problem for most, but for those with Linux don't expect them to work. I believe the work with sum programs but not all. Also they are impossible to see in dim light, but that is to expect. The screen on the keyboard is useless. You can set an alarm, but it is hard to set and not loud at all. There is a clock on it, but not backlit so it is hard to see it in the day, let alone dim light. Plus who uses a clock on a keyboard when your monitor always displays it for you. The screen seems like a waste of battery to me. The side of the keyboard (left) has a couple of nice buttons, like search computer, internet, goto folder, etc. and a "Dynamic Zoom." This isnt a button to zoom in or zoom out, but you place you mouse on the bottom of the bar and move up to scroll in and opposite to scroll out. It is nice but i am a ctrl+wheel kind of guy. There is also a 100% "button." if you put your finger on this spot it will zoom back to 100% with no force downward. However this is a bad design flaw. When i am typing in word i zoom way in due to my high resolution screen. My little finger will accidentally hit this and zoom back to 100. (I dont use my little finger like i am supposed to while typing, i only use it for shift/ctr) So due to some substantial design flaws i do not like the keyboard.
Wireless:
The wireless receiver is quite large (comparatively). It is approximately 2" out of the USB port, but it has to control a mouse and keyboard, and is not made to be portable, so i dont have complaints. The wireless range is long enough for me and i have not tested it to its extent so i cannot comment on this.
Battery:
In the 9 months i've had this, i have changed the two double AA batteries in the mouse twice, second time happened last week, and i have not changed the keyboard batteries yet.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: This a vast improvement from the 5000 series. In addition, the ability to use the MX5500 as a Bluetoth 'Hub' is quite handy and impressive. This is a well thought out, functional and easy to use solution. Now if they could make it a bit less expensive....

Summary: The only good thing about this key board and mouse I like are the mouse. It has lasted about 3 years and still going. I want to throw the keyboard out the window and run over it several times. The keys are so far apart I feel like spider man trying to type. If you have big fingers it would be great and as long as you don't mind having to press keys more than once to type. or if they get stuck you just have to punch them with your fingers. Oh, as long as you don't need to type anything, your good.

Fantastic media/work mouse. Sub par gaming mouse.
by erikcullx on December 6, 2011
Pros: -Excellent hotkey setup for media and work or school
-Keyboard feels smooth and natural to type on
-The built in keyboard calculator is insanely handy
-Mouse is very ergonomic and the buttons are positioned well
-Charging cradle is very convenientCons: -If you are looking for a pure gaming combo I would look elsewhere
-Bought this for casual-medium gaming and was disappointed as the additional mouse buttons aren't picked up in the games I play
-Dual mouse wheels take some getting used toSummary: If you're like me and do a lot of media tasks, are a student/employed and use the microsoft suite and calculator functions frequently then this is a perfect ...
Summary: If you're like me and do a lot of media tasks, are a student/employed and use the microsoft suite and calculator functions frequently then this is a perfect combo for you! In that sense I would give it 5/5 stars.
If you do all of the above and some casual gaming I would still recommend it and give it my offical 4/5 stars (As this is exactly what I do with the product)
But if you were looking for something to satisfy your gaming needs you should probably look elsewhere. As a gaming combo I would rate it at about 2.5/5
** Browsing over the most recent reviews, I have absolutely zero mouse lag with MY combo and it works perfect with Windows 7 x64. -
great keyboard, it feels great!!!
by thibaultmol on February 10, 2011
Pros: the display is very handy because i don't have to go out of a full screen program to see the time. the buttons to pause or play media are really handy!
Cons: it's a shame that you can't configure the screen to view information from a game(like world of warcraft: viewing your amount of gold)

Great keyboard and mouse
by wright_left on October 17, 2008
Pros: Mouse is way cool with the smart scroll wheel thing. It can either have the clicks or not. Fancy.
Keyboard is so cool. They dropped the silly NUMLOCK key so you won't accidentally screw your documents when trying to type numbers.Cons: Not sure if I can program the LCD on the keyboard, it wasn't obvious. Nothing other than that is bad, except for the price of course.
Summary: Seriously does anyone use the keypad for keys that are located just to the left? It must be a relic from when those other keys weren't provided on the ...
Summary: Seriously does anyone use the keypad for keys that are located just to the left? It must be a relic from when those other keys weren't provided on the keyboard next to the keypad. Now, there's just no point. I praise Logitech for finally getting rid of it. It's just like when serial and parallel ports went the way of the Dodo.

DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 7
by alkolkin on July 1, 2009
Pros: Great keys and shortcut keys. Nicest feel of any keyboard.
Cons: Does not work with Win 7 x64 w/ latest Vista x64 driver. Logitech does not support Win 7. The Vista driver installs, but top window loses focus every 30 seconds, which makes it impossible to type. Same on different computers w/ different hardware.
Summary: Do not buy if you want to use with Windows 7.
